Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Beast King Realm 900 Reached many years before the sanctuary battle. After advancing, flew beyond the sky and witnessed strange phenomena in the Milky Way.
Nine-headed true form and innate divine ability 879 880 Activated primordial ancestral bloodline power while trapped beneath the Thousand-Jun Tower. This temporary amplification strengthened its hurricanes, pushed back the tower, and enabled it to sever the shadow deity’s chains; it was not a permanent realm advancement.

Appearance

  • Enormous avian body: Large enough to overshadow the Pinglu Daoist Sanctuary, with broad wings that nevertheless allow remarkably light, agile movement 867 868.
  • Head and neck: A pointed beak, long narrow eyes, and coarse neck down resembling steel spikes 874.
  • Crown-like crest: The original head bears a crimson fleshy crest. When its nine-headed form is first revealed, the other eight heads have only bumps rather than fully developed crests 879.
  • True form: Nine heads on long necks, capable of spreading outward like an opening fan 879.
  • Surrounding wind: Frequently enveloped in hurricanes and foul wind carrying the stench of blood and decay 868 882.

Personality

The Duck Beast King is proud, contemptuous of weaker cultivators, and fiercely resentful of Perfected Lord Pinglu. It regards Zhu Peizi and He Huaibao as insignificant obstacles and is particularly angered by Pinglu’s unfailingly calm manner despite their ancient enmity 865 867.

Its arrogance conceals considerable tactical intelligence. After direct attacks fail against Xu Long, it targets the cultivators sustaining his formation, supplies resentful spirits with energy, and waits for his reserves to run dry. Xu Long recognizes that the beast’s apparent fury can mask an increasingly calculated approach 891 893 894.

Although vindictive enough to attack through grievous injuries, it can retreat when the odds turn against it. During the first documented sanctuary siege, it weighs its wounds, tightening restraints, and dwindling bloodline power before withdrawing 888 900.

Abilities & Skills

Flight and Extreme Speed

Its aerial speed is repeatedly described as unmatched in the Boundless Wilderness. It rides air currents so skillfully that it rarely needs to flap its wings 871 875.

  • Changes direction almost instantly, even while threatened by Pinglu and the Thousand-Jun Tower 871.
  • Moves too quickly for Xu Long’s Heavenly Eye to follow during the sanctuary battle 871.
  • Uses phantom attacks to misdirect opponents before striking elsewhere with its true body 872.
  • Can be slowed by coordinated restraints; Xu Long’s sword light eventually proves capable of pursuing it 877 1034.

Hurricanes and Wind Blades

The Beast King commands the power of nature through hurricanes, cutting air currents, and compressed wind 868 1034.

  • Produces steel-blade-like hurricanes capable of devastating the surrounding terrain 868.
  • Launches exceptionally swift wind blades infused with compressed natural power 1034.
  • Uses hurricanes to strip away sword qi and trap Xu Long’s sword light 886 887.
  • Combines hurricanes expelled from its nine heads into a defensive wind shield 1034.
  • Severe injuries can impair this control: after Xu Long repeatedly wounds one head, that head can no longer conjure its surrounding hurricane 890.

Primordial Bloodline and Nine-Headed Form

Its inherited bloodline allows it to briefly draw on the power of a primordial ferocious-beast ancestor 879 880.

  • Reveals nine heads and unleashes an innate divine ability that overturns the Thousand-Jun Tower’s suppression 879.
  • Tears through the tower’s treasured light and cuts apart two restraining chains with its wings 880.
  • Fights Pinglu and the tower’s shadow giant simultaneously without immediately falling behind 881.
  • Limit: The amplification cannot last indefinitely. Prolonged use exhausts its energy, and forcing it further risks damaging its origin 880.

Foul Wind and Resentful Spirits

The Duck Beast King keeps remnant souls within its foul wind and deploys them against cultivators 878 891.

  • Disperses the wind into spirits that devour one another until dozens of stronger spirits remain 891.
  • Sends formless spirits through the Banners Forming a Forest Formation, bypassing defenses capable of restraining its physical body 891.
  • Continuously supplies the spirits with energy, allowing them to reform after being cut apart 893 894.
  • Uses spirits to possess cultivators and consume their souls; three possessed cultivators ambush Xu Long with Earth Immortal Dharma Seals 897.
  • Counters and risks: Xu Long’s black mystic lightning destroys a group of spirits and severs their connection to the Beast King. When it is mortally wounded in their final battle, its newly gathered spirits show signs of turning against it 900 1034.

Physical Strength and Natural Weapons

Its body remains dangerous even when its wind techniques are weakened or restrained.

  • Uses its wings as guillotine-like blades 868 880.
  • Devours cultivators directly and sweeps others into its hurricane before swallowing them 872 883.
  • Breaks formation banners, weakening the golden net linked to them 882.
  • Punches a hole through Xu Long’s Dharma Body with a charging blow, bringing it close to collapse 1034.

Intelligence, Speech, and Beast Command

  • Human speech: Refined the hyoid bone in its throat, enabling it to speak human words 867.
  • Beast-tide leadership: Summons and directs masses of ferocious beasts against the sanctuary 865.
  • Intimidation: Its pressure causes Senior Brother He’s aquatic beast to cower rather than fight 865.
  • Formation analysis: Identifies supporting cultivators and banners as weaknesses in Pinglu’s restraint strategy 874 893.

History

Long Rivalry with Perfected Lord Pinglu

The Duck Beast King ruled part of the Boundless Wilderness and fought Perfected Lord Pinglu for thousands of years. It repeatedly led beast tides against the Pinglu Daoist Sanctuary but failed to conquer it. To the Beast King, the sanctuary was an intolerable foothold driven into territory belonging to the ferocious beast clans 865 867.

Years earlier, after entering the Beast King Realm, it flew beyond the sky and observed extraordinary phenomena in the Milky Way. Those memories later helped it recognize the otherworldly nature of Xu Long’s black mystic lightning 900.

Siege of the Pinglu Daoist Sanctuary

The Beast King attacked while Pinglu was secluded for the Three Calamities and Nine Tribulations. Zhu Peizi and He Huaibao attempted to defend the sanctuary, but Pinglu ultimately emerged and rescued them with the Thousand-Jun Tower 861 865 868.

Pinglu drew the Beast King into the Banners Forming a Forest Formation, combining the cultivators’ magic power with the tower, a primordial deity’s shadow, chains, and a golden net. The Beast King responded by activating its nine-headed ancestral form, breaking the chains, and attacking the formation’s supporting cultivators 874 877 879 880 882.

Xu Long repelled a pursuing head, repeatedly wounded it, and destroyed the resentful spirits sent into the formation. With its bloodline power running short and the restraints tightening, the Beast King fled, briefly dragging the connected banners and cultivators into the sky. Pinglu released the formation, and the beast departed after threatening the sanctuary’s destruction 886 890 900 901.

Movements Before the Final Attack

Ancestor Yun He later reported that the Duck Beast King had visited the Jade Screen Sect School and been fought off. He also relayed the Saint Daoist Sanctuary’s request for information about its whereabouts. Xu Long suspected that the beast’s earlier movements involved pursuit by that sanctuary, but lacked enough evidence to establish what had happened 970.

When unusual beast tides spread through the wilderness, Xu Long suspected another attempt against Pinglu. He coordinated with Zhu Peizi and led Mystic Immortal cultivators toward the sanctuary, intending to gather the beasts and draw out their king 1028 1030.

Final Battle and Death

The Duck Beast King turned Xu Long’s plan against him, using the beast tide to isolate Pinglu at the main vein. Xu Long broke through its blockade and intervened as the beast prepared to finish its old enemy 1034.

Now a Mystic Immortal, Xu Long fought it alone. The Beast King surrounded his Dharma Body with its nine heads and nearly shattered it with a charge, but Xu Long recovered, briefly immobilized the beast, and inflicted catastrophic wounds with his returning sword attack. He ultimately destroyed it with sword light and Earth-Destroying Mystic Lightning 1034.

Afterward, Xu Long discovered the energy core it had stolen from the Saint Daoist Sanctuary. He gave the Beast King’s Inner Core and the sanctuary’s jade token to Zhu Peizi. Pinglu settled his remaining affairs and died shortly after the battle 1034.

Items

  • Stolen energy core — Taken from the Saint Daoist Sanctuary and found by Xu Long after the Beast King’s destruction. Its specific use is not established in the provided account 1034.
  • Inner Core — Recovered after its death and handed to Zhu Peizi 1034.

Relationships

  • Perfected Lord Pinglu — Mortal enemy for thousands of years. Their rivalry centers on the sanctuary’s continued presence in the Boundless Wilderness 867.
  • Xu Long — Enemy whose defense of the formation earns its lasting hatred. Their conflict ends when Xu Long destroys it at the Pinglu Main Vein 890 908 1034.
  • Zhu Peizi — Sanctuary defender who opposes its assault; later receives its Inner Core from Xu Long 861 1034.
  • He Huaibao — Sanctuary defender nearly killed by its hurricane before Pinglu intervenes 867 868.
  • Ancestor Yun He — Repels its visit to the Jade Screen Sect School and warns disciples to report further sightings 970.
  • Saint Daoist Sanctuary — Seeks information about its whereabouts; its stolen energy core is discovered after the Beast King’s death 970 1034.
