Background and History
Divine War and Separation
The Silver Dragon King and Golden Dragon King were the two great Dragon Kings formed from the Dragon God’s division. During the divine war, the Asura God gravely wounded the Silver Dragon King with a sword strike. She fell from the Divine Realm and hid in the Star Dou Great Forest, surviving with injuries she could only slowly nurse 43 62.
Na’er is the half separated from Gu Yue, with their eventual fusion intended to restore their unity as Gu Yuena. Gu Yue regards that reunion as part of her mission to revive the dragon race, but Na’er’s attachment to Qing Linyun makes her refuse to merge 6 7 15 18.
Gu Yue shares Na’er’s memories of Qing Linyun feeding her, buying her tanghulu, braiding her hair, and comforting her after nightmares. Although she initially finds those memories humiliating, they give her an emotional familiarity with him before their first direct meeting 7 18 53.
Spirit Pagoda Cover
Two years before Leng Yaozhu’s discussion with Qiangu Dongfeng, a hidden clan from the Soul Beast side approached the Spirit Pagoda about cooperating on Soul Spirit projects. Gu Yue served as its representative and was presented as its heir 70.
She asked to become Leng Yaozhu’s disciple to study Soul Spirit technology systematically and strengthen the partnership. Leng Yaozhu suspected that Gu Yue’s background concealed more than it revealed, but accepted her as her final disciple while intending to keep watch over her 70.
Enrollment at Eastsea Academy
Gu Yue comes to Eastsea City after sensing the Golden Dragon King Bloodline at Eastsea Academy. Having missed registration, she is stopped outside the gate until Qing Linyun claims she is his younger cousin and escorts her inside 7.
She identifies Tang Wulin as the bloodline’s bearer, then presents her recommendation letter and elemental Martial Soul to Wu Changkong. He handles her admission, and she joins Class Five 10 11 18.
Suspecting that Qing Linyun knows too much about Tang Wulin, she considers summoning Di Tian to kill him. Na’er intervenes through their mental connection, threatening to self-destruct rather than fuse if Gu Yue harms him. Gu Yue promises to spare him for the time being and instead continues watching him 15.
Training and the Class Promotion Tournament
Gu Yue is selected alongside Tang Wulin and Xie Xie for Class Five’s three-person Class Promotion Tournament team. Both boys acknowledge that she is stronger than they are 18.
She defeats Xie Xie by preventing him from reaching close range, then overwhelms Tang Wulin with a six-element torrent that Wu Changkong blocks. Her individual strength does not immediately translate into teamwork: arguments with Xie Xie lead them to attack each other during a training bout 36 37 40 41.
Wu Changkong criticizes her for failing to act as the team’s backbone, while Qing Linyun urges her to support her teammates rather than endanger them. By the tournament, the strengthened trio defeats the first-year opposition decisively, with Gu Yue fighting from the rear using Elemental Tide 41 77 80.
Qing Linyun and the Golden Dragon King Bloodline
Qing Linyun gives Gu Yue a jade pendant after accidentally rapping her on the head. Its warmth eases her old divine-war injuries, increasing her curiosity about him. She does not know that the pendant also lets him track her 17 18.
Her concern grows when he returns safely after the appearance of a powerful Evil Soul Master. Later, his private training of Tang Wulin prompts her to question him during an outing through Eastsea City. He avoids revealing what he knows about the Golden Dragon King Bloodline 31 49 53 54.
After discussing Soul Beast survival and artificial Soul Spirits, Gu Yue hires Qing Linyun as her bodyguard and private tutor for one billion Federation Coins per month. She begins believing he has romantic feelings for her, although the narration reveals that he deliberately tells her what she hopes to hear 55 60.
Gu Yue subsequently discovers that Tang Wulin’s Golden Dragon King Bloodline has vanished and that he now carries the Asura God’s presence. She later senses the missing bloodline fully integrated into Qing Linyun. Unlike her willingness to kill Tang Wulin for it, her feelings for Qing Linyun leave her conflicted, and she postpones confrontation 62 64 65.
Studying Soul Spirit Technology
Qing Linyun begins teaching Gu Yue Soul Spirit technology, starting with gene segment deduction. At the Heaven-Supporting Pillar laboratory, she examines a newly created ten-thousand-year Dark Demon Bird Soul Spirit and recognizes the technology’s potential to eliminate the need to hunt Soul Beasts for Soul Rings 65 72 73.
She also considers whether injecting her spiritual power into the process could advance her own plans. When Leng Yaozhu asks her to gather information about the technology from within, Gu Yue privately welcomes the opportunity while outwardly pretending reluctance 73 74.
Qing Linyun overhears the assignment and confronts her. Gu Yue kisses his cheek to appease his apparent anger, only for Ye Lingling to enter and discover them together. The resulting jealousy persists after their return to the academy and disrupts Gu Yue’s concentration during training 74 75 76 78.
Appearance
- Build and features: Tall and slender, with delicate features 16.
- Bearing: Cold and distant in class; Qing Linyun compares her presence to a queen stepping out of a painting and describes it as almost divine 7 16.
- Hairstyle: Wears her hair in a small ponytail in later academy scenes 76.
- Expressions: Frequently blushes around Qing Linyun, contrasting with her usual aloofness toward classmates 8 55 72.
Personality
Gu Yue is proud of her identity as the Silver Dragon King and initially dismisses human love as unreliable. She intends to use her charm to make Qing Linyun submit to her, thereby proving Na’er’s attachment mistaken. Her responsibility toward the Soul Beast Clan is reinforced by the long history of bloodshed between humans and Soul Beasts 7 54.
Her sharp tongue and impatience make her intimidating to classmates. She mocks Xie Xie’s cultivation, challenges him to fights, and sometimes vents frustration with Qing Linyun on her teammates. Her pride also makes criticism difficult to accept, even when she privately recognizes that it is justified 32 41 43.
Despite her self-assurance, Gu Yue becomes easily flustered by Qing Linyun’s attention. She worries that his affection merely treats her as a substitute for Na’er, then grows jealous when he focuses on Tang Wulin or appears close to Ye Lingling. Her emotional investment eventually interferes with her otherwise precise elemental control 18 49 76 78.
She nevertheless exercises caution over the Golden Dragon King Bloodline. Rather than immediately attacking its bearer, she investigates its origins and delays action when its transfer to Qing Linyun remains unexplained 43 64 65.

Elemental Control
Her publicly declared Martial Soul conceals the Silver Dragon King’s innate command over the elements 10.

- Detects the disappearance of that bloodline from Tang Wulin and recognizes the Asura God’s presence within him 62.
- Identifies the Golden Dragon King Bloodline as fully integrated into Qing Linyun 64.
- Communicates mentally with Na’er and shares her memories 7 15.
Ranged Combat and Positioning
Gu Yue excels at keeping close-range opponents away through layered attacks and terrain control. Wu Changkong praises her execution of a mage-type Soul Master’s fighting style 36.

- Combines ranged pressure with teammates’ attacks when cooperating properly 40.

- Examines a ten-thousand-year Dark Demon Bird Soul Spirit produced in his laboratory 73.
- Considers spiritual-power-based control as a possible addition to the technology, but does not demonstrate it 73.
Equipment and Items
- Healing jade pendant — A warm, milky-white pendant given by Qing Linyun as an apology. It gradually eases injuries inflicted by the Asura God and secretly functions as a tracker. Its material is not identified 17 18.
- Soul Communicator — Used to communicate with Leng Yaozhu, including receiving the assignment to gather information on Qing Linyun’s technology 74.
- Silver Dragon Spear — associated divine weapon — Identified as the Silver Dragon King’s bonded weapon, but Gu Yue is not shown wielding it in these events. The system offers it to Qing Linyun, who later possesses it and plans to surprise her with it 68 70.
Relationships
- Qing Linyun — Her academy teaching assistant, hired bodyguard, private tutor, and romantic interest. Their growing intimacy coexists with her suspicions about his knowledge, technology, and possession of the Golden Dragon King Bloodline 55 64 74.
- Na’er — Her separated half and intended fusion partner. They share memories and a mental connection, but clash over Qing Linyun; Na’er’s refusal to merge constrains Gu Yue’s actions against him 7 15.
- Leng Yaozhu — Her master at the Spirit Pagoda. Protective of Gu Yue despite suspicions about her origins, she later asks her to obtain information about the Heaven-Supporting Pillar’s Soul Spirit technology 70 74.
- Wu Changkong — Her academy teacher and team trainer. He recognizes her exceptional elemental control but rebukes her recklessness and poor teamwork 36 41.
- Tang Wulin — Classmate, teammate, and the initial target of her Golden Dragon King Bloodline investigation. His later Asura God presence provokes fear and killing intent rather than affection 43 62 77.
- Xie Xie — Classmate, teammate, and frequent sparring rival. Their arguments escalate into friendly fire during training 32 36 41.
- Ye Lingling — A source of jealousy because of her closeness to Qing Linyun. Gu Yue warns that she will not tolerate being bullied by her again 75 76.
- Di Tian — Someone Gu Yue considers summoning to eliminate Qing Linyun; she also privately threatens to call him against Xie Xie, but neither action occurs 15 43.
- Asura God — The enemy responsible for her near-fatal divine-war injuries. His presence remains a source of deep fear and hatred 17 62.
