His frivolous manner conceals a calculating approach to relationships and danger. He uses his knowledge of the original story to identify opportunities, conceals his intentions behind friendly gestures, and avoids unnecessary public confrontations that might damage his reputation 7 9 44.

His generosity often combines genuine concern with strategic benefit. He wants to ease Zhuo Shi’s worries by helping Wu Changkong, yet also recognizes the value of earning his senior brother’s gratitude. Likewise, his support for Tang Wulin improves the boy’s confidence and cultivation while supplying Emotion Points and preserving leverage against Tang San 39 44 46 64.

He is ambitious beyond commercial success. When offered a possible military partnership, he considers acquiring a legion, gaining political power, and eventually controlling the issuance of money rather than merely earning it 83.
