| Personal anchor established in Teyvat | 41 | Accepting “Yaya” as her nickname allows an anchor belonging solely to her to take root through Logic Above Logic. This does not completely remove her dependence on Tang Wang: releasing his hand still exposes her to Teyvat’s rejection afterward 44 45. |
Background / History
Centuries before her journey to Mondstadt, Columbina was used by the Frostmoon Scions. Her subsequent treatment in Snezhnaya reinforced her belief that family relationships depended on usefulness: if she lost her value or failed to meet others’ expectations, she would be abandoned. While staying at Snezhnaya Palace, she supplied Kuuvahki that The Doctor extracted for experiments 29.
Columbina has felt rejected by Teyvat since birth. Tang Wang connects this condition to Frostmoon having been cast beyond the False Sky. She describes the sensation as having her throat squeezed so tightly that she can barely breathe 40 45.
Tang Wang established contact with her after obtaining Fatui information from Diluc and using his standing as an S-rank adventurer. Before their first face-to-face meeting, he sent her flowers preserved in Shadow Domain containers and spoke with her remotely. His apparent lack of demands made their relationship comforting but unfamiliar to her 24 29 33 35 39.
Tang Wang initially pursued their connection partly because his knowledge of Genshin Impact told him she would become the Moon Goddess. Venti later challenged him to recognize that his feelings could not simply be treated as an investment. Her anticipated ascension is not shown occurring in the supplied chapters 33 34.
Appearance
- Build and bearing: A petite, graceful young woman whose harmless appearance contrasts sharply with her power 41 42.
- Arrival clothing: A loose white robe and thin gauze blindfold; she arrives barefoot, floating above the ground 39.
- Mondstadt clothing: Changes into a local-style long dress and high heels, later described as a loose blue-and-white dress 40 42.
- Head ornament: A white ornament at the back of her head rises like an angry bird’s feathers when she threatens a Fatui soldier, then droops when she relaxes 42.
Personality
Columbina speaks softly and directly, often approaching social questions with little understanding of ordinary human conventions. She asks how bad people behave, readily accepts Tang Wang’s friends as family, and initially assumes La Signora must be bad because Tang Wang fought her. Nevertheless, she listens when he distinguishes personal dislike from wrongdoing and discourages unnecessary force 41 42 43.
Her attachment to family is shaped by a fear of abandonment. Tang Wang asking for her help initially reassures her because she believes being useful will keep their relationship from ending. Over time, she expresses a less transactional understanding of family: she embraces Ronava despite the pain of letting go of Tang Wang and later argues that family members should help one another 29 44 49.
She is protective of those she loves and compassionate toward suffering. She promises to keep Tang Wang safe after hearing about his violent world of origin, and asks whether the forcibly transformed Abyss Lector can be saved before accepting that a swift death is the only option 45 46.
Food quickly excites her. At Angel’s Share, she eats at astonishing speed and finishes most of Mondstadt’s dishes, calling it the most filling meal she has ever had. She particularly likes Sweet Madame and mushroom chicken skewers 41 42 44.
Abilities & Skills
Kuuvahki and Sensory Perception
- Perceives her surroundings through Kuuvahki despite being unable to see with her eyes; she uses it to examine Tang Wang’s flowers and their preserved dew 39.
- Cannot clearly identify Tang Wang’s nature: to her perception, he lies between blurred and clear 40.
- Recognizes the power within One-Day Mondstadt as identical to the power in Tang Wang 52.
- Can tell that Rosalyne remains alive after leaving the artificial realm 52.
Gravity Manipulation and Levitation
- Floats during ordinary movement and raises herself with Kuuvahki to reach Tang Wang’s head 39 45.
- Produces gravitational force capable of seizing a Fatui soldier by the throat 42.
- Briefly seals La Signora’s throat with Kuuvahki, stopping her speech and breathing 43.
- Attempts to reach an airborne enemy roughly seventy meters above the ground by manipulating gravity. The effort causes pain almost immediately; Venti’s wind ultimately carries the squad upward instead 47.
Hydro and Lunar Reactions
- Manifests Kuuvahki as Hydro through her Elemental Skill, invoked with “Bloom like moonlight” 46.
- Triggers Lunar-Charged against the Electro Abyss Lector, forming thunderclouds and purple-white lightning that repeatedly wounds it 46.
- Supplies the Hydro component of the squad’s combined reactions, including Albedo’s Lunar Cage 46.
- Lends moonlight to Linaya during the final assault. Together with Linaya’s crystal and Albedo’s enhancement, this allows Lumi to strike through the Lector’s Abyss shield 47.
- Is considered better suited to Light Realm Power than to the Human Realm Power contained in artifacts, according to Albedo 46.
Divine-Level Strength
- Belongs to the top three Fatui Harbingers, whose combat prowess Danika describes as comparable to that of gods 24.
- Is feared even within the Fatui: an encounter described as “hide-and-seek” leaves the Knave drenched in sweat 41.
- Does not always recognize the danger her strength poses to others. Tang Wang warns Mondstadt’s gate guards that trying to stop her could injure them 39.
Teyvat’s Rejection
- Physical contact with Tang Wang suppresses her lifelong sense of rejection, producing unprecedented comfort 40.
- The precise cause remains uncertain. Tang Wang considers both his cultivated Gang Qi and the unusual Shadow Domain he carries 40.
- Her nickname-anchor does not immediately eliminate the condition; she still seeks contact while sleeping to avoid its return 41 44 45.
- Inside One-Day Mondstadt, she feels Tang Wang’s warmth reaching her from every part of the realm 50.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Noblesse Oblige Set — Provided by Tang Wang before the Windrise battle. She equips the complete artifact set without instruction 45 46.
- Anemo Archon-blessed lyre — A gift from Venti; she had previously expressed interest in Mondstadt’s distinctive lyres 44 45.
- Mechanical communication device — Carried against her chest and used to receive Tang Wang’s invitation to Mondstadt 29.
- Preserved flowers and display cases — Gifts from Tang Wang, kept fresh through Shadow Domains. After The Doctor and Marionette damage one while studying it, she forbids them from touching his other gifts 35.
- Dew-covered Cecilia — Presented by Tang Wang at Mondstadt’s gates during their first in-person meeting 35 39.
Relationships
- Tang Wang — Trusted friend and chosen family. His touch relieves Teyvat’s rejection, and she remains physically close to him for comfort. She fears losing his affection, treasures his gifts, and promises to protect him 29 35 40 45.
- Ronava / Nana — Chosen family. Recognizing a shared sadness in Ronava’s history of servitude, Columbina endures renewed rejection to embrace her and promise that neither must remain lonely 44.
- Linaya / Lili — Friend who welcomes her into the group and accepts her chosen nickname. They cooperate to empower Lumi during the battle against the Abyss Lector 41 47.
- Danika — Welcomed as new family after Tang Wang introduces her as a friend. Columbina later asks her to use “Columbina” rather than “Lady Damselette” 42 46.
- La Signora / Rosalyne — Fellow Harbinger. Columbina confronts her conduct in Mondstadt and briefly restrains her, but also expresses concern for her survival after she leaves One-Day Mondstadt 43 52.
- Pantalone — Fellow Harbinger who resents her innate divine power. He opposes her trip but eventually provides a carriage and escort after she repeatedly insists on going 29.
- The Doctor / Zandik — Extracts her Kuuvahki for experiments and participates in studying Tang Wang’s gifts. She cites him when trying to understand what constitutes a bad person 29 35 41.
- Flins — Agrees to protect her if she reaches Nod-Krai, fulfilling the request of an unidentified Abyssal remnant. No meeting between them is shown in the supplied chapters 14.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Invitation to Mondstadt
Tang Wang calls Columbina as a potential answer to the remaining Electro Abyss Lector’s shield. She accepts immediately when he offers to give her flowers in person, then insists on leaving despite Pantalone’s objections and the three-day journey 29.
At Mondstadt’s gates, she meets Tang Wang face-to-face for the first time. Their visit reveals that touching him relieves her rejection by Teyvat. During the subsequent meal at Angel’s Share, she joins his companions and chooses “Yaya” as her nickname, establishing her personal anchor 39 40 41.
Fatui Confrontation and Windrise Battle
Columbina’s presence enables Tang Wang to confront La Signora’s interference in Mondstadt. After Columbina briefly silences Rosalyne, Tang Wang presses for an end to Fatui cooperation with the Abyss Order and further interference in the city 42 43.
At Windrise, her Lunar-Charged reaction helps stagger the Electro Abyss Lector for Ronava’s firebird attack. When the Lector survives and raises an Abyss shield, she lends Linaya moonlight for the combined assault that allows Lumi and Tang Wang to finish it 46 47.
One-Day Mondstadt
Columbina challenges Kang Jie’s claim that sacrificing Mondstadt is an act of love, asking why he does not help the people he considers family. Once trapped in his artificial realm, she assists the investigation and identifies its power as matching Tang Wang’s 49 50 52.
She later asks Tang Wang to sing. His rendition of her familiar melody with previously unknown lyrics becomes something Kang Jie had not foreseen, helping overturn his certainty that the future cannot change. When Kang Jie finally transfers his authority, Columbina prepares Hydro power beside Ronava to defend Tang Wang until he assures them that Kang Jie means no harm 53 54.
