Background and History

Linaya met Tang Wang in Sumeru and became his close friend and comrade-in-arms. During their earlier adventures, she used his breath-regulation technique to help defeat monsters. She also knew about his recurring nightmares: when they traveled together, he usually slept holding Lumi 5 22 25.

Their travels included a dangerous encounter with desert mercenaries whom Tang Wang initially spared. After the mercenaries ambushed and seriously wounded him, Linaya and Lumi carried him through the desert for more than three hours. She later cited this incident to explain his insistence on immediately neutralizing threats when his companions were vulnerable 28.

By the Mondstadt crisis, Linaya was serving as an adviser to the Adventurers’ Guild’s Nod-Krai branch. She traveled to Mondstadt, assessed damage to the city, and worked on replanning trade routes disrupted by the disaster 5 15.

Appearance

  • Pink hair, visible during her work in Mondstadt and her confrontation with Kang Jie 15 49.
  • Small wings beside her head and ears that move expressively, drooping when she is disappointed and twitching when she is uneasy 24 50.
  • A lens worn on her person, which helps Danika recognize her as a Snezhnayan fairy 20.
  • A visible Wheel of the Moon, noticed by a nun at the Cathedral of Favonius 30.
  • A backpack or book bag used to carry Lumi and supplies 16 23.

Personality

Linaya is affectionate and openly enthusiastic with people she trusts. She greets Tang Wang by rushing into an embrace, readily welcomes Columbina into the group, and gives Ronava the nickname “Nana.” Her fascination with rare creatures can overwhelm her composure: after learning that Ronava is supposedly an adeptus, she repeatedly asks permission to touch her, then apologizes when she realizes she has frightened her 16 24 38 41.

Her professional judgment remains practical. She insists on attempting to rescue missing adventurers despite the danger, leaves Mondstadt’s civic response to the Knights of Favonius rather than overstepping, and later chooses to remain with the wounded because her healing is most useful there. The deaths of young Guild members affect her deeply 16 17 30.

She is also attentive to companions’ emotional needs. When Ronava feels excluded, Linaya acknowledges her own failure as a Guild consultant and helps comfort her. Her later care becomes almost maternal, including arranging Ronava’s hair, wiping food from her mouth, and patiently explaining human customs 18 25 37 38.

Linaya rejects despair as a justification for sacrificing the present. Even after Kang Jie gains power surpassing the gods, she challenges his decision to surrender Mondstadt’s future rather than protect what its people still have 49.

Abilities and Skills

Geo Healing — Happy Ending

Linaya’s Elemental Power specializes in healing and enhancement rather than direct offensive techniques 23.

  • Limb restoration: Regenerates Tang Wang’s severed arm after the Hydro Abyss Herald battle 20.
  • Group healing: Her Elemental Burst, Happy Ending, restores the missing limbs of multiple patients at the Cathedral of Favonius 30.
  • Diagnosis: Identifies the severe hidden injuries restricting Ronava’s strength 23.
  • Limits: Cannot heal Ronava’s underlying condition; she compares Ronava’s remaining capacity to water barely held by the fragments of a broken cup 23.
  • Energy cost: Exhausting her Elemental Power can leave her unable to continue treatment until replenished. Tang Wang restores her depleted Wheel of the Moon with Gang Qi after the Hydro Herald fight 20.

Lumi Enhancement and Control

Linaya supplies the Geo Elemental Power used by Lumi, her Frost Spirit companion. Lumi accounts for an estimated 70–80% of her combat strength, compensating for her limited close-range fighting ability 16.

  • Combat coordination: Directs Lumi’s hammer attacks while supporting from a distance with her bow 16.
  • Recall: Channels Elemental Power to bring an injured Lumi back to her side 19.
  • Ore-fed enlargement: Feeds Lumi ores infused with Geo power, enlarging both its body and hammer enough to break a sealed ruin door 17.
  • Maximum temporary growth: During the final Electro Abyss Lector battle, a crystal, Columbina’s moonlight, and Albedo’s Mora-based enhancement allow Lumi to reach the sixteenfold limit described by Albedo 47.

Wheel of the Moon and Lunar Reactions

Linaya possesses a Wheel of the Moon, allowing her Geo power to participate in Lunar Crystallize when it reacts with Hydro. These reactions are especially effective at suppressing the Abyss 20 21.

  • Moonshell Concerto: During the Hydro Abyss Herald battle, accumulated Geo energy after Moonsign Ascension triggers the concerto through the existing Lunar Cage, releasing platinum-colored Kuuvahki 20.
  • Abyss suppression: The resulting light cracks the Herald’s shield and ultimately overwhelms its Abyssal power through repeated coordinated attacks 20.
  • Team enhancement: Kuuvahki strengthens Lumi and brightens Tang Wang’s protective golden energy during the same battle 20.
  • Elemental requirement: Tang Wang specifically identifies Hydro as necessary for her Lunar Crystallize; the party’s lack of a Hydro Vision user limits their access to it outside suitable encounters 21.

Geo Repair

Linaya extends the principle of healing—repairing life—to the restoration of nonliving things associated with Geo 23.

  • Restores the training ground destroyed by Ronava’s Pyro attack at remarkable speed 23.
  • Leaves the wooden training dummies unrestored, distinguishing the repair from unrestricted reconstruction 23.

Archery

Linaya uses a bow for ranged support despite her primarily healing-oriented elemental abilities 16 23.

  • Fires Geo-infused arrows to interrupt Rifthounds attacking Tang Wang from behind 16.
  • Forces the Hydro Abyss Herald back with an arrow immediately after it severs Tang Wang’s arm 19.

Foresight

Linaya can perceive glimpses of the future, although the extent and reliability of this ability are not established 52.

  • Inside Kang Jie’s recreated world, her visions overlap so completely that she cannot distinguish even a glimpse of the future 52.

Adventuring Expertise and Instruction

  • Surveying and navigation: Assesses disaster damage, replans trade routes, marks routes through ruins, and draws her own maps 15 17 18.
  • Investigation: Recognizes that standard-issue and otherwise unexpected weapons circulating in Mondstadt may reveal a suspicious supply network 18.
  • Guild instruction: Explains the four broad uses of Elemental Power—combat, survival, enhancement, and special effects—and clarifies the distinction between Abyss Heralds and Lectors 23 25.
  • Combat assessment: Identifies Ronava’s lack of fighting intent as a barrier to using her power offensively, then helps her recognize the buildup preceding an Elemental Burst 23 26.
  • Research support: Offers to consult Nod-Krai’s Secret Archive about Tang Wang’s lost ability 18.

Equipment and Items

  • Favonius Warbow — Used against the Rifthounds. Linaya identifies it as a Knights of Favonius standard-issue weapon that she should not ordinarily possess; Tang Wang remembers her previously using a slingshot 16 18.
  • Backpack/book bag — Carries Lumi and the ores used to enhance it 16 17 23.
  • Hand-drawn map — Used to check the party’s route to Dawn Winery 18.
  • Windwheel Aster — A flower Tang Wang gathers and gives her in Mondstadt 35.

Relationships

  • Tang Wang — Close friend and longtime adventuring partner, first met in Sumeru. Their practiced coordination lets Lumi occupy enemies while Tang Wang attacks; he considers her healing essential to his ability to keep fighting 5 16 28.
  • Lumi — Frost Spirit companion and principal combat partner. Linaya supplies its elemental power, carries it in her bag, and feeds it ores and crystals for stronger attacks 16 17 47.
  • Ronava / Nana — Traveling companion, patient, and object of scholarly fascination. Linaya shares a room with her, helps her train, and teaches her everyday human customs. Ronava develops an attachment described as closer to a child’s bond with a mother than ordinary friendship 23 24 25 30 38.
  • Danika — Fellow combatant whom Linaya helps rescue from the Hydro Abyss Herald. Danika recognizes her as an Omenbird and later receives instruction from her about elemental abilities 20 23.
  • Columbina / Yaya — Welcomes her into the group and accepts her chosen nickname. Columbina later lends Linaya moonlight during the final Electro Abyss Lector battle 41 47.
  • Barbara — Meets her while treating casualties at the Cathedral of Favonius and takes responsibility for patients with severe limb injuries 30.

Story Role and Major Arcs

Mondstadt Relief and the Failed Rescue

Linaya’s letter brings Tang Wang into the Stormterror crisis. She asks him to help reduce casualties but explicitly places his safety first. When he arrives, she immediately begins organizing a rescue for adventurers missing in an Abyss-linked domain 10 15 16.

The party defeats a pack of Rifthounds on the way, but reaches the missing adventurers too late. After Lumi breaks into the sealed chamber, Linaya helps assess the three bodies and searches for clues. She leaves in tears after the group agrees that the dead should be returned to their families 16 17.

Kang Jie’s Transgression

When Kang Jie claims that Mondstadt’s tragic future justifies his actions, Linaya openly challenges his willingness to abandon the present. Within the recreated world, she notices that her future visions have become indistinguishably superimposed 49 52.

After Kang Jie restores Mondstadt and relinquishes his Descender authority, Linaya immediately approaches his collapsing body and applies Geo healing. Her expression turns sorrowful upon contact; his final request is subsequently fulfilled by Eula 54.

Trivia

  • Her letter to Tang Wang uses pink-and-gold stationery, includes a half-dried flower, and substitutes a chibi drawing of Lumi for her signature 10.
  • Hu Tao believed Linaya was the person most likely to make Tang Wang recognize romantic feelings, but the supplied chapters identify the two as close friends rather than an established couple 5 9.
