The Town of Beginnings had no gate guards.
A wide road passed under the archway, leading to stone-paved streets inside the city and a rolling grassland outside. People carrying weapons walked out in twos and threes, talking about wild boars, quests, and levels.
Lin Yuan followed the crowd for a while, and soon left the road.
He didn't have the map those people were using, nor could he see the so-called mission prompts. Staying near the crowd would only draw more attention to his unusual behavior.
The grass blades covered the tops of the shoes.
A breeze blew from afar, carrying the scents of earth and plants, and the ground beneath your feet sank slightly with each step. If it weren't for the colorful markings hanging above the heads of a few wild animals in the distance, this place would be almost indistinguishable from a real grassland.
Lin Yuan walked to a rock about half his height and clenched his fist, smashing it down.
Bang!
The rock shuddered violently, and several fine cracks appeared on its surface. Unlike the wooden barrel in the alley, it did not immediately turn into a sheet of light; instead, a slightly shortened red line appeared above it.
Lin Yuan looked at his fist.
There was no injury, nor did I feel any suppression of my power.
His body was still his body.
The spatial True Magic was completely blocked within his body, but the physical body left behind by the Campione did not disappear along with the True Magic. His strength, speed, and reflexes remained, but the world before him clearly displayed how much attack a stone could withstand.
Suddenly, the sound of rapid hoofbeats came from behind.
A bluish-gray wild boar, head down, charged out of the bushes, its two tusks aimed at Lin Yuan's waist. It appeared silently, only letting out a low growl when it was within ten meters of him.
In the past, Lin Yuan would have discovered it from the changes in space.
Now we can only rely on our ears.
He stepped aside, making half a step.
The wild boar charged past, its four hooves digging a patch of mud in the grass. After charging several meters, it suddenly turned around, the red marker above its head shifting accordingly, locking onto Lin Yuan once more.
Lin Yuan did not draw his sword.
When the second charge reached him, he reached out and grabbed a fang, turned sideways, lowered his shoulder, and used the momentum of the charge to lift it upwards.
The nearly 200-pound wild boar was lifted off the ground, rolled over his shoulder, and slammed heavily onto the rocks.
The red line suddenly became shorter.
The wild boar fell to the ground, its four legs still kicking in a fixed motion. It showed no fear due to the difference in strength, nor did it choose to flee. The mark above its head lit up, and its massive body immediately sprang up, continuing its charge towards Lin Yuan.
Aren't you scared?
Lin Yuan then drew his one-handed sword.
He didn't use the complex variations Erza had taught him; he simply placed the blade in the path of the boar's advance. The monster ran into the edge of the blade, its momentum sending the longsword piercing its neck.
The red line was instantly cleared.
The boar's body paused for a moment, then began to shatter from its tusks. Its fur, flesh, and bones turned into blue light fragments that floated upwards, even the marks on the longsword disappeared along with them.
Lin Yuan stood there and waited for a moment.
There was no sound to tell him what he had gained, nor were there any new blank panels in front of him. He touched his waist, where, of course, there was no money pouch that had appeared out of thin air.
As the last few glimmers of blue light faded, a broken fang fell onto the grass.
Lin Yuan bent down and picked it up.
The fangs felt hard and cold to the touch, and they hadn't disappeared after leaving the monster. He put them in his pocket; this was probably the only thing he'd kept from the monster.
Two more wild boars spawned not far away.
They first lowered their heads and pawed the ground in the same posture, then rushed towards Lin Yuan from the left and right respectively. The two red markers lit up at the same time, and even their starting time was exactly the same.
Lin Yuan went to greet him.
The first sword pierced below the tusks of the wild boar on the left. The blade did not touch the actual bone; it only caused the red line to descend rapidly after reaching a sufficient depth.
He drew his sword, turned around, and used the back of the blade to smash open the head of another wild boar.
The monster, which should have continued forward, was thrown sideways by the immense force, its four hooves still in mid-air, maintaining their charging motion. Lin Yuan took a step forward, his sword slicing upwards through its exposed belly.
Before the wild boar even hit the ground, its body shattered into light.
The first monster pounced from behind.
Lin Yuan didn't turn his head, his longsword thrusting out along his ribs. The movement was almost identical to when he dealt with the armored puppets in the moving castle, except this time he didn't have the Boundary-Severing Blade that could change shape at will.
The sword tip pierced precisely into the wild boar's brow.
A third patch of blue light spread out.
As Lin Yuan sheathed his sword, he heard a very soft, crisp sound.
A crack has appeared near the hilt of the standard longsword. A thin horizontal line has emerged above the crack, indicating that nearly a third of it is missing.
It also has the same tolerance limit as barrels, rocks, and monsters.
Lin Yuan flicked the blade of his sword with his finger.
It's a good thing that the power can be used normally.
The problem is, the weapons the world has given him seem to be failing him first.
