The Heartless, Unfaithful Scumbag Wife in a Female-Dominated World (End)
"W-wife..."
The long-unspoken word lingered bitterly on Rong Chao's tongue. The tangled emotions surging through him choked his throat, nearly leaving him unable to speak.
Only half a year had passed, yet it felt as long as a lifetime.
Tears filled his eyes as he looked at Jiang Xuefu, his gaze full of regret and pain, as well as the joy and excitement of finding her again after losing her.
No longer able to restrain the impulse in his heart, Rong Chao stepped toward her involuntarily. He reached out a trembling hand, wanting to hold her.
Jiang Xuefu simply stepped back warily. "What are you doing? And don't call me that. At most, the only thing you can call me now is sister-in-law."
Sister-in-law?
Rong Chao's breath caught as he remembered the photograph Rong Feng had shown him after he got engaged to Xu Zhu.
Bastard! He gritted his teeth, anger flashing in his eyes, all of it hatred for Rong Feng and even the rest of the Rong Family!
They were the ones who made me divorce my wife!
"Wife," Rong Chao sobbed, tears falling as grief overwhelmed him. "I lost my memory. They divorced you behind my back, and I didn't even know. Then they forced me to marry Xu Zhu and lied to me, saying I'd never been in love."
"You're the only one I've ever held in my heart, wife. They forced me to do everything. Wife, will you forgive me? I'm sorry. I'll never be willful again..."
Unable to hold her, he clutched her hand tightly instead. His lips trembled, his beautiful eyes were full of pleading and sorrow, and tears streamed down his face as if they cost nothing.
Yet his tears failed to move Jiang Xuefu in the slightest.
She never went back to graze on old grass. If two people could separate, it meant there had been a problem between them at the time. What was the point of trying to force things again?
Rong Chao was indeed beautiful, and his body was nice too. Playing with him felt great. But she had played with him for seven years and was already tired of him.
Jiang Xuefu pulled her hand out of Rong Chao's grasp and said, stressing every word, "Rong Chao, even if you lost your memory, the fact is that we're divorced. That will never change."
"I won't let Xu Zhu off, and you shouldn't come looking for me anymore either. You'll only annoy me."
The woman's voice was quiet, but it struck Rong Chao's heart like a heavy hammer.
She said we're divorced... that I'm annoying...
Seeing him standing there like a puppet, Jiang Xuefu frowned but paid him no further attention. She got back into her car and drove around him, leaving Rong Chao standing there in a daze.
His face was even paler than the snow blanketing the world.
When he returned to the Rong Family home, Rong Chao was still distracted, as though a puppet had snatched his soul away in an instant.
Father Rong hurriedly brought him a cup of ginger tea, then fetched a blanket and wrapped him up snugly. "Why did you go looking for that person without a word? And you stayed outside so long, too. It's freezing out there. Hurry and drink the ginger tea to warm yourself up."
Rong Chao held the scalding ginger tea in his hands, but it was as though a gap had opened in his heart, with the cold wind howling through it, never to heal again.
Why? Why did we have to divorce? Why did they make that decision for me? And why did they make me marry Xu Zhu?
I'm not clean anymore... Fufu will never want me again...
Rong Chao hurled the cup in his hand to the floor. It shattered into pieces, splashing ginger tea everywhere and startling the rest of the Rong Family.
"Xiao Chao, what's wrong?" Father Rong asked cautiously.
"Get out!! All of you, get out!!" Ignoring Father Rong, Rong Chao swept everything off the coffee table onto the floor. As if that still wasn't enough to vent his anger, he smashed everything he could get his hands on, leaving shards of glass and porcelain all over the floor.
His tears had long since run dry. Now, even in the depths of his sorrow, all he could do was wail in anguish. "Are you even my family? Why did you hide it from me? Why did you divorce her for me without asking?!"
Father Rong shrank to one side, mumbling, heartbroken and guilty, too afraid to meet his son's eyes.
Mother Rong sighed as well. "Xiao Chao, we did all this for your own good. That Jiang Xuefu isn't a good match. Look at your brother. He's neither a proper husband nor a proper lover. What kind of arrangement is that? He's brought nothing but shame on our Rong Family!"
Rong Chao sneered, his eyes full of scorn.
"Is that bastard Rong Feng hiding from me now because he doesn't dare face me? He's shameless, coveting his younger brother's wife, and none of you are any better!"
"From now on, either Rong Feng stays in this family or I do. You choose."
How was she supposed to choose? They were both her sons. Though she usually favored Rong Chao a little more because he was the youngest, Rong Feng was also the heir they had painstakingly raised. Whether it was the palm or the back of her hand, both were flesh!
Father Rong sighed miserably, his brow furrowed as he wept in silence. He had long expected this day might come, but he hadn't thought it would come so soon.
Their once-happy family had been utterly ruined by Jiang Xuefu...
Mother Rong had thought Rong Chao was simply angry at the time and would be fine after a while. But to her surprise, he stuck to his demand. Every time Rong Feng came home, he would even attack him like a madman, and the brothers usually ended up wrestling with each other.
With no other choice, Mother Rong suggested that Rong Feng stop coming home for the time being. Most of what she said was criticism of him as the older brother.
The gist was that, as the older brother, he ought to give way to his younger brother no matter what. His brother had every right to be angry and to hit him. After all, he was the one who had done wrong in the first place. He should have obediently taken the blows, so how could he hit back?
Rong Feng showed no reaction after hearing this. But from then on, he never set foot through the Rong Family's doors again.
Ten years later, Mother Rong retired and handed all the family's restaurants over to Rong Chao.
To her surprise, as soon as the businesses were in Rong Chao's hands, he sold them all and donated every bit of the money to an orphanage. Mother Rong was so furious that she suffered a stroke on the spot and was hospitalized.
Rong Chao spent the rest of his life at the orphanage.
After taking over the Xie Corporation, Jiang Xuefu did settle down and behave herself for quite a while. But after her two children were born, her already restless heart grew wild again.
Besides the four men, she took two more young, handsome male college students as kept lovers.
Xie Jinhua, Rong Feng and the others saw it, but there was nothing they could do. As long as those young lovers didn't make trouble in front of them, they simply pretended not to see.
Jiang Xuefu lived to the age of eighty in this world, surrounded by descendants, and her wealth ranked first in Hua Country. The Jiang Family flourished as the largest family in Hua Country, and its prosperity continued for several hundred years.
