"Don't want to become enemies? Maybe we became enemies a long time ago," Yunyi said softly.
"Did you say something?" Mayumi Saegusa asked, puzzled.
Yunyi had muttered too quietly for Mayumi Saegusa to hear him clearly.
"Nothing," Yunyi said with a chuckle.
He looked at Mayumi Saegusa before him and could not help a bitter laugh. For the two of them to become friends, they would have to give up far too much.
To begin with, they came from different countries and stood on different sides. Mayumi Saegusa was also a daughter of the Saegusa Family, one of Japan's most elite families. That identity alone created a gulf between them as vast as a chasm.
Besides, Yunyi knew very well that if the story unfolded as written, Mayumi Saegusa would fall in love with Tatsuya Shiba. When that happened, it would be even harder for the two of them to become friends.

Yunyi's words caught Mayumi Saegusa's attention. She turned to look at him, only to meet the glance he stole at her.
Seeing that she meant to leave, Yunyi gently shook his head and motioned for her to sit down, then turned his attention away from her.
A moment later, the person on the other end seemed to say something. Yunyi coldly replied, "Got it," and ended the call.
"Feeling weighed down?"
Tossing the terminal onto the table, Yunyi looked at the somewhat restless Mayumi Saegusa.
"Yeah. I think anyone would feel this way after hearing news like that, wouldn't they?" Mayumi Saegusa said.
Yunyi smiled. He wanted to say that if Tatsuya Shiba heard the news, he probably wouldn't feel much of anything. He would just get right in their faces, unleash his strongest attack, and fight them for real. But considering what they were about to do, Yunyi chose to skip the subject.
"Come on, I'll take you to get revenge."
Yunyi rose and spoke to Mayumi Saegusa, who was sitting on the sofa.
"Revenge?" Mayumi Saegusa asked, somewhat confused.
"Yeah. We were attacked by terrorists! When something like that happens, shouldn't we get revenge and root out the people who wanted to hurt us?"
"Th-that's too risky, isn't it?!" Mayumi Saegusa exclaimed.
"Don't worry. I won't let you get hurt, and I'll bring you back safely. Besides, those guys scared your two little sisters. Don't you want to teach them a lesson?" Yunyi continued coaxing her.
Hearing that, Mayumi Saegusa really was a little tempted. In fact, even if Yunyi did nothing, she would have mobilized her family's resources to search for those people once she returned to the Saegusa Family.
What she had not expected was that Yunyi would choose to take revenge personally. Moreover, the people who had attacked them today seemed to have some history with him.
Just before they stepped out of the house, Yunyi raised a hand and reached it toward Mayumi Saegusa.
Mayumi Saegusa paused, but when she remembered their leap from a building dozens of stories tall, she hesitated no longer and placed her hand in Yunyi’s palm.
Yunyi took her hand and smiled. "Mayumi, your hand is small and soft."
"Hey, you!" Mayumi Saegusa's cheeks reddened slightly. She complained aloud and instinctively tried to pull her hand back.
But Yunyi had tightened his grip as he spoke. It was not enough to hurt Mayumi Saegusa, but it kept her from pulling free easily.
After that little exchange, Mayumi Saegusa's heavy mood lifted considerably.
Hand in hand, they walked out of the house and flew straight into the sky, enveloped by the Domain Magic Yunyi had deployed.
"Yunyi, is this flight magic?" Feeling what it was like to fly through the air again, Mayumi Saegusa could no longer contain her curiosity.
"This isn't flight magic at all! Actually, I'm no good at controlling Psions to connect to Magic Sequences and cast magic! All the magic I use is based on my development of Domain Magic. Within this domain of mine, all Psions are under my control. How I make them move and combine is just a matter of thought."
Mayumi Saegusa looked at Yunyi in surprise. She tried to connect to a Magic Sequence and found that she had lost contact with every Psion, both those around her and those inside her body that should have been under her control. It was as though she were in an isolated space.
