The Unforgiven from Shinigami

It was late at night.

Outside the aristocratic street.

The area illuminated by the moonlight was devoid of lights and people, as quiet as a dead city.

Kūkaku Shiba arrived, draped in a black cloak, holding a map in her hand, her gaze fixed on the tall watchtower in the distance.

The base is made of Shiraishi with a large red cross, and the top is a one-story building.

According to the information she received, someone knew detailed information about Isshin Shiba and arranged to meet here to make a deal.

Should I get involved?

Kūkaku Shiba harbored doubts. The fact that someone could slip such a piece of paper into the files in her drawer without her noticing was enough to show the strength of the enemy.

Just to be on the safe side, she didn't plan to meet them directly, but instead lurked in the distance, quietly observing them.

She took refuge in a building, slightly opening the window. The autumn wind brushed against her cheek, and her olive-green eyes gazed into the distance.

The agreed time has passed.

The gate to the watchtower was open, and a person stepped out.

That person...

Kūkaku Shiba tried to get a clear look, but the person suddenly vanished.

Her pupils dilated, a chill spread from her back, and her Reiatsu suddenly erupted, smashing through the window and sending her outside.

The blade flashed like lightning, leaving a deep wound on his back.

"You..." She turned her head, unable to see the figure shrouded in darkness, and only managed to utter one word.

The man reached out and grabbed her foot, pulling her back, and then threw another identical corpse down.

call.

Silver-white Ginpakukazahana no Uzuginu fluttered down.

Byakuya Kuchiki stood on the roof, watching the person falling from the sky. His eyes turned to the house, and he Shunpo rushed inside. Unable to see the culprit, he uttered, " Bakudō No. 58, Kakushitsuijaku."

He abandoned the chanting and recited the fifty-eight Bakudō, attempting to trace the Reiatsu left behind by the murderer at the scene.

Nothing was gained.

Byakuya Kuchiki frowned slightly. He arrived at the scene immediately, but he couldn't even see the culprit or sense his Reiatsu.

Such a lightning-fast Shunpo should be something that very few people in Seireitei could do.

After thinking for a moment, he Shunpo downstairs. Shattered windows littered the ground, and a person lay among them, blood gushing out from behind.

The Reiatsu was completely gone.

Byakuya Kuchiki crouched down, turned the body over, and finally saw the face clearly. He murmured, "It's her. Why is she here? Who is the murderer?"

The next question lingered in the mind of the "deceased".

That stunning strike should have been fatal enough, but Kūkaku Shiba discovered that he had not died.

His eyes were covered, he was wearing handcuffs that restricted his Reiatsu, and his limbs were immobilized; he was probably tied to the bed.

Strangely, she felt no pain at all despite her severe injuries, as if they had already healed.

"You bastard, who are you?"

Kūkaku Shiba asked impatiently.

The hoarse voice replied, "You've been looking for me, haven't you? What a surprise. I should have been piercing Isshin's heart in the World of the Living, yet I'm still able to send you messages."

Where is he?

"You bastard!!" Kūkaku Shiba roared in fury, struggling with all his might, but unable to use his Reiatsu, he gritted his teeth and tried with all his might but still couldn't sit up from the bed.

"So you didn't get any instructions."

The hoarse voice continued, rough hands touching her neck, "To act so bravely alone, investigating the safety of one's relatives, is truly admirable."

I'm absolutely going to kill you!

Kūkaku Shiba's chest was filled with rage; she couldn't believe her uncle could survive with his heart pierced.

"You're so stupid, you didn't even go with Hirako and the others."

"..." Kūkaku Shiba did not continue to rage. Her anger came quickly and went quickly. After calming down, she realized that the enemy should have been able to kill her, but they did not.

The explanation was that they wanted to get some information from her, and judging from her tone, it was undoubtedly related to Shinji Hirako.

She didn't want the enemy to get their way.

"If you're not going to say anything, then let's end our conversation here."

The footsteps faded into the distance, stopping at the door. "You can try shouting, but no one here will hear you. Don't bother."

Thirteen steps.

The number of steps from here to the door.

Kūkaku Shiba pondered these thoughts, unsure if they were of any use, but he did everything he could to accomplish what he could.

Perhaps it will come in handy in the future.

The door creaked open and then closed.

The person walked through the dimly lit corridor, ascended the stairs to the ground floor, and vanished in an Shunpo.

" Captain Unohana!!"

Without even knocking, Isane Kotetsu opened the door; it was very dark inside.

Retsu Unohana sat up lazily, her black hair falling over her shoulders, and said, " Isane, I should have said that you should knock first if you need anything."

Isane Kotetsu, panting, didn't have time to apologize and stammered, "But, but Kūkaku Shiba was killed, and the body was brought over by the 6th Division Byakuya Kuchiki himself, who said they wanted us to do an autopsy and have the results that night."

"Let's go check it out right away."

Retsu Unohana's weariness vanished instantly. Without even changing her clothes, she hurried to the door. Seeing the worried look on her face, she reached out and patted her head. "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Isane Kotetsu said bitterly, "Miss Kūkaku and Shiraishi were very close. If Shiraishi were to learn of her death, he..."

" Isane, we just need to focus on our own tasks; others will handle the killer's situation."

Retsu Unohana patted her on the shoulder and continued forward, "I believe Captain Shiraishi has the ability to find the murderer who killed Miss Kūkaku."

Even so, Miss Kūkaku will never come back.

Isane Kotetsu sighed, feeling very worried, wondering how Shiraishi would react upon hearing the news.

The two rushed to the morgue at the General Infirmary facility.

The door wasn't closed, Kūkaku Shiba's "corpse" lay on the central platform. Byakuya Kuchiki remained close by, tilting his head slightly as he said, "Sorry, I'll have to trouble Captain Unohana."

"It's alright, the scene will be a bit bloody. Captain Kuchiki, you can wait outside for the results."

Retsu Unohana replied with a single sentence.

Byakuya Kuchiki frowned and said, "It's alright."

Retsu Unohana stated bluntly, "The deceased was a woman, and we hope to preserve her final dignity."

This was a reason that the great nobles could not refute.

Byakuya Kuchiki had no choice but to change his mind and say, "I'll go outside and wait for news."

" Isane, you go out too, to prevent anyone from breaking in in a fit of rage."

"Huh? Me?" Isane Kotetsu was stunned for a moment, then, seeing Captain Unohana's determined expression, clenched her Riot Games and said, "Okay."

What should we do if Shiraishi rushes over later?

These questions raced through Isane Kotetsu's mind. He walked outside, opened the morgue door, and closed it.

Byakuya Kuchiki asked, "What are you doing out here?"

Isane Kotetsu said weakly, " Captain Unohana was afraid that Shiraishi would get too excited if he found out, so she asked me to stay here and keep watch."

"Is that so?"

Byakuya Kuchiki looked at the closed door, a hint of doubt arising in his mind.

According to regulations, to avoid falsification, an autopsy usually requires the presence of two people.

Captain Unohana couldn't possibly be unaware of that, yet she still broke the rule.

" Third Seat Kotetsu, Captain Unohana's actions violated autopsy regulations. Please return to your post."
