Chapter 221 Miss Scarlett's Adventure
The lower cargo hold was crowded and cluttered, filled with soldiers and corporate employees moving supplies.
The O'Hara Conglomerate's airships didn't carry much cargo, but they did bring a considerable amount of gourmet food and fine wine for the leisure and entertainment of its high-ranking members.
At that moment, the supplies that were neatly stacked in the corner of the cargo hold were targeted by three "uninvited guests".
Charles, with his beard, casually pried open a wooden crate, pulled out a bottle of liquor, waved it in the light, and whistled, "Wow, Napa Valley's treasure, the kind that costs over a hundred pounds a bottle!"
Louis the Louis also pried open another box with his dagger, grabbed a ham wrapped in oiled paper, brought it to his nose, took a deep breath, and exclaimed with delight, "This smell... could it be genuine black truffle ham?"
Henri pulled a box of caviar from the trunk, opened it, and poured it into his mouth. "Mmm! Delicious! Much better than those canned goods—don't just look, you guys have some!"
Hearing Henri's call, several soldiers around him followed suit, prying open the boxes to steal food. The group even sat on the ground and set up a feast.
Charles, Louis, and Henri, the three sons of pirates, had long since become acquainted with the soldiers who believed in the Erdtree. In a sense, the airship soldiers and the air pirates were really no different.
No one noticed that Scarlett, dressed in an inconspicuous black women's suit and with her long blonde hair tucked into her hat, was crouching nearby, making her way deeper into the warehouse.
This young lady was completely oblivious to the danger she was in; instead, she curiously touched and looked around, completely ignoring Simon's warnings.
They've completely forgotten about it.
In Scarlett's eyes, there were no rules to follow; she had always done whatever she wanted since she was a child.
And this ship is so interesting!
Hiding behind the maze of storage boxes, she peered out at the unsuspecting soldiers feasting and drinking, only to find her cautious infiltration somewhat unnecessary—no one had even noticed her. Scarlett thought to herself again: These northerners, they really are all barbaric idiots.
She tightened her grip on the revolver she had taken from the ship and continued to stealthily make her way deeper into the cabin.
In that little mind full of romantic stories, plots from adventure and detective novels kept popping up, in which the protagonist would go deep behind enemy lines alone, kidnap the enemy leader, and then escape unscathed, becoming a hero admired by thousands.
That's right, this rich young lady plans to emulate the protagonists who infiltrate enemy territory alone and carry out a decapitation strike.
If we capture the captain of this ship, we can coerce them into releasing the people and the ship, and maybe even get them to return the stolen supplies.
Let's see if Grandpa still dares to say she's willful and immature then, and if Simon will still secretly grumble about her lack of maturity.
However, the young lady never considered what would happen if a beautiful girl like herself were discovered or captured by the "barbarians" she spoke of, nor did she even think about how these people would react if she succeeded.
Unfortunately, her strict upbringing meant she only knew business and etiquette; in that respect, the entire crew of the Goliath couldn't compare to her.
As for the other common sense about life that belongs to "lower-class people", no one taught her at all.
Who would have thought that this young lady, who always has thirty or forty bodyguards accompanying her on spring outings, would actually have the opportunity to face vicious "bandits" alone?
In Mu En's case, this would be considered a lack of harsh realities in life.
Soon, Scarlett arrived at the back of the warehouse, where a curtain abruptly cut off the warehouse space.
It was much quieter here than before; there were no soldiers carrying supplies, only towering stacks of cargo crates.
Scarlett approached the curtain, reached out and touched the rough fabric, and scoffed, "What cheap canvas! Our O'Hara canvas is a hundred times better!"
After finishing her usual rant, she curiously lifted a corner of the curtain, wanting to see what goodies were hidden behind it.
Was it secret weaponry from the Northern Kingdom? Or treasure plundered from other merchant ships? Or perhaps some indescribable scene?
The moment the curtain was lifted, a deep blue hue came into view, less than a meter away from her fair face.
"Huh? What's this----"
Scarlett instinctively took two steps back before she could see the full blue color.
An enormous eye.
Its eyes are at least half a meter in diameter, surrounded by an even larger skeletal structure hidden beneath white downy fur.
Then, the eye began to rise, and a colossal beast, over three meters tall with limbs as thick as pillars, appeared, its long tail covered in sharp barbs swinging nimbly behind it.
Below the head, the massive, scythe-like jaws, even longer than Scarlett herself, snapped shut with a metallic shearing sound.
The Fallingstar Beast looked down at the tiny creature in front of it and let out a low roar.
"Roar?"
Who are you? Have you arrived? Why are you disturbing my sleep?
Scarlett's mind went blank.
She had indeed considered the potential dangers, the possibility of being discovered by soldiers, and the possibility of needing to use her own skills to defeat the enemy.
But she never imagined that she would encounter a monster that only existed in myths and legends!
"Strange, strange—" Her lips trembled, uttering incoherent sounds.
No, don't panic, it must be fake. How could such a thing exist in this world Fallingstar Beast moved closer, its giant sapphire-like eyes almost touching the girl's face, as if it was very interested in this intruder.
when!
Summoning courage from who-knows-where, Scarlett slammed the butt of her pistol into the giant jaw that was looming in front of her, then turned and ran.
The Fallingstar Beast stood frozen in place, completely bewildered.
That little guy actually dared to hit it! Could it be—could it be sent by the golden guy to warn it not to move?
Thinking of this, Niuniu lay back down.
Never mind, getting some sleep is the priority.
Scarlett trudged along, head down, her legs moving with frantic speed; this was the passageway leading to the top deck.
She was lucky; she didn't encounter anyone along the way. This was because Dola's previous orders had kept most of the soldiers at their posts, and no one was moving around in the passageway.
As she ran, she reassured herself that it must have been a sculpture or something similar; how could there be a real monster in this world? She was just scared!
The empty corridor confirmed her suspicions. What Goliath Battleship? The guards were so lax, letting anyone slip in so easily. They're all a bunch of incompetent fools!
The young lady quickly adjusted her mindset and, following the area signs, finally arrived at the "core area" she had imagined.
The surroundings were no longer crisscrossing pipes and steel beams, but clean and tidy bulkheads, with carpets laid out underfoot.
This passageway, named " Top Deck Keel," is much wider than the one below, with portholes on both sides offering views of the sea of clouds outside—clearly a place only high-ranking military officers could access.
"Hmm... this is the Bridge, that's the lounge, where is it, you evil villain—"
She tiptoed past each door, holding her pistol up to her face, mimicking the actions of secret agents in a play.
As luck would have it, this young lady actually found the so-called "big villain".
Just as she turned the corner and entered the corridor with floor-to-ceiling windows, a golden figure stood there overlooking the sea of clouds.
The figure was unusually tall, unlike a normal human. Upon closer inspection, its body was actually made of twisted, worm-knotted tree branches!
For Scarlett, the most terrifying thing was that guy's face.
The "figure" had only blank wooden textures on its face, without any features, but she clearly felt that something was watching her.
Suddenly, the golden figure turned around.
Oh? You are----
Run!
Run!
She screamed inwardly, but her legs wouldn't obey her commands.
"Weird, monster ahhhhhhhhhh!!!"
As the golden figure slowly turned and walked towards her, the girl finally rolled her eyes and fainted.
Mu En was just out for a walk.
Am I that scary?
