Arc 8The Pejite War and Alliance

Nausicaä and the allied forces defeated the Dorok occupation of Pejite and returned the wounded young Ohmu to the Sea of Corruption. In the aftermath, Nausicaä formed the Erdtree Alliance while Mu En investigated the Giant God Warrior, the Sea of Corruption, and Master Kabo’s secrets.

  • Pejite’s merchant associations rebelled as Dorok battleships attacked, and allied forces arrived to fight for the city.
  • Nausicaä led the Blessed Warriors aboard the Endure Battleship, where Master Kabo died and his trapped soul revealed a plan to draw the Sea of Corruption’s insects to Pejite.
  • Yupa found a living Ohmu larva in a Dorok laboratory, and Nausicaä and the allied forces raced to stop Gore from using it as leverage.
  • Nausicaä healed the wounded larva and carried it west, while the Dorok surrendered and Mu En studied the Ohmu’s shared consciousness and the Sea of Corruption’s connection to Void.
  • Mu En negotiated with the Ohmu by promising protection for a molting site and monthly stories, and Nausicaä returned the young Ohmu to the swarm.
  • Pejite’s Giant God Warrior began regenerating, and Nausicaä warned allied leaders that the weapon and the Dorok threat could ignite another war.
  • Nausicaä formed the Erdtree Alliance under the Valley of the Wind, then organized Pejite’s recovery with Haideng and sent allied leaders home under escort.
  • Mu En explored using golden tendrils to create an avatar, then questioned Master Kabo, who revealed the Holy Emperor’s orders and asked him to spare the Dorok tribespeople.
Chapters 177–202 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 177The Battle of Pejite

Pejite’s king and royal forces faced a coup backed by the Dorok army, whose Endure Battleship devastated the city and drove resistance underground. As fighting continued in the ruins, allied aircraft from the nations of the Sea of Corruption arrived over Pejite.

  • Pejite’s merchant associations launched a revolt against the king while three Dorok battleships attacked the city from the sky.
  • Rebel forces seized key locations, destroyed battleships attempting to take off, and helped the Endure Battleship overwhelm Pejite’s defenses.
  • The Endure Battleship bombarded the royal palace, and the king escaped through a secret passage into the underground ruins.
  • By the following dusk, Dorok warrior monks and rebels controlled much of the city, while royal guards and workers fought them through the tunnels.
  • Aircraft carrying the flags of the nations of the Sea of Corruption appeared over Pejite as allied forces arrived.

Ch. 178The Battle of Pejite (2)

Five allied gunboats drew the invincible warship’s defenses into a fierce dogfight while Nausicaä and the Blessed Warriors prepared to board it from above. Inside the ship, Gore confronted the Dorok over Pejite’s destruction before an intrusion alarm revealed that the airborne assault had begun.

  • Five allied gunboats evaded the invincible warship’s fire and attacked it to avenge Pejite.
  • Nausicaä, Por, Kamlin, Wawar, and the Blessed Warriors prepared an airborne assault from the captured Guardian warship.
  • Nausicaä led the warriors to the hatch and ordered them to begin the attack.
  • Gore accused Master Kabo and the Dorok of destroying Pejite’s central dome without permission, while suspecting they wanted to search the ruins.
  • An intrusion alarm sounded, and Gore ordered the crew to repel an enemy attack from above.

Ch. 179The Battle of Pejite (3)

Nausicaä and the Blessed Warriors launched an airborne assault on the Dorok warship and rapidly overwhelmed its defenders. Nausicaä reached Master Kabo in the command room, but found him already dead.

  • The Blessed Warriors descended onto the warship as an allied gunboat was shot down over Pejite.
  • Nausicaä kicked open a hatch, and the Warriors fought through the Dorok defenders before splitting up to seize the ship.
  • Por, Wawar, and Kamlin advanced through the warship while Nausicaä’s overwhelming strength let her race ahead toward Master Kabo.
  • Nausicaä broke through the defenders on the staircase and entered the command room, where she prepared to strike Master Kabo.
  • Nausicaä discovered that Master Kabo had already stopped breathing.

Ch. 181The Battle of Pejite (4)

Nausicaä and Mu En captured Master Kabo’s soul after he tried to possess her, then learned he had started the war to destroy the Giant God Warrior. Though the allied forces had seized the Dorok warship, Master Kabo revealed that his final plan would unleash the Sea of Corruption’s insects on Pejite and bury the underground ruins.

  • After Master Kabo died, his soul emerged from a priest and attacked Nausicaä, but Mu En trapped it with the Erdtree’s golden branches.
  • Nausicaä confronted Master Kabo’s captive soul and learned he wanted to destroy the Giant God Warrior before anyone could use it.
  • Master Kabo admitted he had ordered Gore to attack Pejite, and Nausicaä condemned him for starting a war that killed civilians.
  • Kamlin’s group reported that the allies had secured the Bridge, while Por and Wawar reported that they had taken control of the warship and its ammunition depot.
  • Master Kabo warned that his final plan would bring the Sea of Corruption’s insects to Pejite, bury the underground passages, and kill the city’s residents and both armies.

Ch. 182The Battle of Pejite (5)

Yupa’s squad infiltrated the Pejite ruins, where they discovered a Dorok laboratory holding a living Ohmu larva. After escaping the alerted soldiers, they learned that the Pejite King’s Army was nearby and set out to join the king.

  • Yupa split the Mercenary Corps of the Wind into groups to search the ruins and spread word of the allied army.
  • Yupa and Ashta’s squad attacked Dorok guards at a secret underground entrance and forced a monk official to reveal that the passage led to an unknown marked area.
  • Yupa’s squad followed the map through the ruins and found a Dorok laboratory containing a living Ohmu larva in an incubation tank.
  • Ashta accidentally made a noise, alerting the guards, and Yupa led the squad through the tunnels to escape their pursuers.
  • A message revealed that the Pejite King’s Army and the king were stationed in Ruin No. 3, so Yupa’s squad headed to regroup with them.

Ch. 183Giant God Warrior

Yupa discovered a pristine Giant God Warrior skeleton beneath Pejite and learned the Dorok planned to lure the Sea of Corruption’s insects into the city. As Yupa led Pejite’s fighters to stop the plan, King Asumo took the secret stone that could activate the weapon, choosing Pejite’s survival over the risk of unleashing it.

  • Yupa met King Asumo in the underground refuge and spotted a nearly intact Giant God Warrior skeleton hidden in the cavern.
  • Asumo explained that Pejite had concealed the discovery, while Yupa grew suspicious of the king’s account and the blond minister questioned him about the surface.
  • After Ashta relayed Nausicaä’s warning that the Dorok planned to use a young Ohmu to draw the insect swarm to Pejite, Yupa urged Asumo to help stop them.
  • Asumo assembled Pejite’s soldiers and the Blessed squad, and Yupa led more than two hundred fighters toward the Dorok laboratory.
  • The blond minister revealed the secret stone that could activate the Giant God Warrior and persuaded Asumo to take it as Pejite’s last hope.
  • Asumo grasped the secret stone despite fearing that activating the weapon could destroy the world.

Ch. 184The Great Counteroffensive

Allied reinforcements arrived in Pejite as the Endure Battleship fell silent, and the city's people joined them in a counterattack against the Dorok and the merchant guild rebels. The Blessed Warriors turned the tide of the street fighting and led the forces into an all-out effort to reclaim the city.

  • Pejite's citizens resisted the occupation, but the Endure Battleship crushed organized resistance with precise artillery strikes and shot down a royal gunboat.
  • Five gunboats attacked the battleship, which gradually fell silent; cargo airships then landed and brought allied reinforcements calling on Pejite to fight.
  • Allied forces and Pejite citizens advanced through the city, facing fierce resistance from merchant guild private soldiers who knew the terrain.
  • Repaired assault guns joined the street fighting, but enemy armored vehicles threatened to overwhelm the allies.
  • Two groups of Blessed Warriors arrived, and a golden warrior severed an assault gun's barrel and helped defeat its crew.
  • A young Blessed Warrior called for an attack, and allied forces and Pejite citizens launched an all-out counteroffensive to drive out the Dorok.

Ch. 185The Power of Unity

The allied forces drove the rebels from Pejite, then learned the Dorok were transporting an Ohmu larva to provoke a swarm. Nausicaä coordinated a citywide search that located Gore and the larva’s transport team in the ruins of the central dome.

  • The allied forces routed the rebels as the Dorok warrior monks and Pejite private soldiers fell into disarray.
  • Fresh Dorok troops emerged from mines near the city center and fled toward the airfield, prompting Yupa to order the allies to find the Ohmu larva.
  • Nausicaä and Mu En organized the allied nations, Pejite civilians, and local defenders into a coordinated search for the larva and its transport team.
  • Reports revealed that merchant association soldiers, trailer tracks, and a flying pot had converged on the central dome.
  • Nausicaä learned that Gore was leading the larva’s transport team into the dome ruins and vowed he would not escape again.

Ch. 186Gore's End

Nausicaä and the allied forces cornered Gore at the shattered central dome, where he tried to use an Ohmu larva to threaten them. Gore was killed before he could detonate the explosives, ending his bid to rule the frontier.

  • Gore gathered his merchant allies and Dorok technicians among the ruins, planning to use the Ohmu larva as leverage and escape.
  • Nausicaä descended from the silent Endure Battleship as the Blessed Warriors and allied forces overwhelmed Gore’s defenses.
  • Gore accused Nausicaä of ruining his ambitions, while she challenged the human cost of his supposed new order.
  • Gore threatened to destroy the Ohmu larva and attract the swarm, but Nausicaä kept approaching him.
  • As Gore reached for the emergency button, a blue figure severed his left arm, and Gore was beheaded.

Ch. 187The Insect and the Girl

After Gore’s death, a Dorok technician detonated the cultivation tank and wounded the baby Ohmu, but Nausicaä calmed and healed it. She promised to take it home and flew west from Pejite with it as dawn broke over the ruined city.

  • A Dorok technician detonated explosives in the cultivation tank, injuring the baby Ohmu and causing panic among the merchants and rebel soldiers.
  • Nausicaä stopped the wounded Ohmu from charging away and healed its shell with golden ripples.
  • The Ohmu calmed down, touched Nausicaä’s forehead with its feelers, and asked to go home; Nausicaä promised to return it to the Sea of Corruption.
  • Nausicaä, Por, and Kamlin secured the Ohmu beneath Gore’s flying pot and took off toward the west.
  • At dawn, Mu En looked down at the ruined City of Pejite and said the war was finally over.

Ch. 188Can Insects Become Blessed?

After the battle for Pejite ended, Mu En used Nausicaä’s flight over the city to spread word of the Erdtree and its blessings. As they carried the baby Ohmu toward the Sea of Corruption, Mu En wondered whether its insects could become Blessed.

  • The Dorok forces surrendered after Gore’s death and Nausicaä’s display of power, while Mu En ordered the disarmed soldiers captured rather than killed.
  • Mu En reviewed the battle’s strengths and weaknesses, noting the Blessed Warriors’ power and communication network as well as shortages in manpower and long-range weapons.
  • Mu En asked Nausicaä to fly low over Pejite with the baby Ohmu, and the people panicked until the Blessed Warriors announced that Nausicaä had saved them from disaster.
  • People in Pejite learned about the Erdtree and its power as guards described how it had helped save Mining Town and the Valley of the Wind.
  • As Nausicaä flew west with the baby Ohmu toward the Sea of Corruption, Mu En wondered if its insects could be made Blessed.

Ch. 189The Child Agreed to It

Mu En arranged for Nausicaä to ask the young Ohmu to accept the Erdtree’s blessing, hoping to learn about the Ohmu and gain a connection to its powers. The Ohmu agreed, and Nausicaä began the blessing despite the strain Divine Descent placed on her.

  • Mu En asked Nausicaä to explain the Erdtree’s blessing and its benefits to the young Ohmu.
  • The young Ohmu demonstrated its healing ability by healing Por’s cheek and startling Por and Kamlin with its golden feelers.
  • Nausicaä persuaded the young Ohmu that the blessing could make it stronger and let her help it if it encountered danger.
  • The young Ohmu agreed to receive the blessing, and Nausicaä summoned a drop of golden liquid through Divine Descent.
  • The young Ohmu raised a feeler and produced Ohmu serum as the large Blessed Dew enveloped it in golden light.

Ch. 190The Tree and the Forest

Mu En blessed a young Ohmu and used their link to enter the species’ vast mental network, where he encountered the collective will that called him a fellow kind. By changing how he perceived it, he saw that the Ohmu and the Sea of Corruption formed a planet-spanning forest of interconnected life.

  • Mu En strengthened his blessing on the young Ohmu, whose compound eyes gained a pale golden hue and whose power rose to that of a stronger Golden Folk.
  • Mu En tried to connect with the Ohmu and found himself inside a vast mental network made of the individual consciousnesses of countless Ohmu.
  • The Ohmu gathered their thoughts into a collective will, greeted Mu En as a fellow kind, and explained that a tree and a forest belonged to the same kind.
  • Mu En shifted from analytical observation to spiritual perception and saw the network as mycelium intertwined with the nerves of giant arthropods and the stalks of fungi.
  • Mu En recognized the Sea of Corruption as a planet-spanning forest whose plants and insects were interconnected and dependent on one another.

Ch. 191Was the Sea of Corruption a Tsundere?

Mu En met the will of the Sea of Corruption in his mental space and learned about its ancient enemy, Void. Before departing, the Sea of Corruption awakened a dormant ability in Mu En and warned him that something dangerous was stirring underground.

  • The Sea of Corruption tried and failed to expel Mu En, then acknowledged the Erdtree as powerful and explained that the Ohmu, fungi, and other insects formed part of its shared consciousness.
  • The Sea of Corruption identified Void as an ancient being that devoured souls and asked Mu En to stand against it.
  • Mu En questioned the Sea of Corruption’s account and asked whether it would help him repel his enemies, and it said its rules prevented it from acting directly.
  • The Sea of Corruption awakened a dormant ability in Mu En and warned him that something bad was awakening underground where the larva had hidden.
  • After the Sea of Corruption disappeared, Mu En wondered whether its cold but helpful manner meant it was a tsundere girl.

Ch. 192Not Falling for It

Mu En tried to recruit the Sea of Corruption’s Ohmu to oppose the humans who persecuted them, but they refused to abandon their duty or join human conflicts. He drew their interest by sharing knowledge of another world and began telling them the story of Pazu and Sheeta, stopping at a cliffhanger.

  • Mu En showed the Ohmu the cruel experiments conducted on their kind in Mining Town and explained that he wanted their help against the perpetrators.
  • An old Ohmu rejected Mu En’s offer, saying the swarm would not join human conflicts or perpetuate a cycle of revenge.
  • Mu En offered to make the Ohmu stronger, but they saw little reason to accept his power.
  • Mu En described a world with real forests and oceans, prompting a flurry of questions from the curious Ohmu.
  • Mu En showed the Ohmu scenes from the story of Pazu and Sheeta, then stopped before revealing what happened next.
  • The Ohmu demanded that Mu En continue the story.

Ch. 193A Deal That Couldn't Lose

Mu En negotiated with the Ohmu to collect their shed shells in exchange for monthly stories, and the swarm accepted after Nausicaä returned a rescued young Ohmu. As the Ohmu departed, Nausicaä asked whether Mu En’s stories were true, and he promised she would someday see other worlds.

  • Mu En revised his offer, promising to protect a chosen molting site and tell the Ohmu a new story each month in exchange for their shed shells.
  • Nausicaä freed the young Ohmu at the edge of the Sea of Corruption, and the swarm recognized her as a friend who had once saved an Ohmu larva.
  • The Ohmu accepted Mu En’s terms and asked him to continue the story, so he told them more about Dola and Pazu.
  • The Ohmu escorted the young one back into the forest, and Nausicaä waved goodbye as it promised to see her again.
  • Nausicaä asked Mu En if his stories were true, and he said they were and promised she would have the chance to visit other worlds.

Ch. 194Counting the Spoils

Mu En assessed the losses and spoils after the war, bringing Mining Town, its mines, and Pejite’s surviving forces and resources under his control. As he considered how to govern the devastated city, he learned that the Giant God Warrior beneath Pejite had awakened.

  • Mu En confirmed that the Valley of the Wind’s forces had suffered no deaths, though one Blessed Warrior was severely injured after trying to block a shell.
  • Mu En made the freed laborers official miners with food, clothing, and wages, and they responded by praying to the Erdtree.
  • Mu En took control of Mining Town’s ceramic steel mine and gained three thousand residents and believers.
  • Mu En claimed three protector battleships and the Endure Battleship, but postponed studying its antigravity engines because dismantling them could destroy them.
  • Mu En considered taking control of devastated Pejite and learned that the Giant God Warrior beneath the city had awakened.

Ch. 195The Awakening Calamity (The Next Chapter Will Be Posted Later)

Nausicaä’s forces found a Giant God Warrior growing back to life in Ruins No. 3, and Nausicaä took the Secret Stone from the repentant King Asumo to keep it under control. Asumo prepared to yield Pejite’s rule to Asbel, but the gathering realized that a mysterious young minister had vanished from their memories.

  • Nausicaä and Yupa found the Giant God Warrior regenerating, while King Asumo admitted he had awakened it with the Secret Stone.
  • Nausicaä tested the creature with her holy sword, which cut its flesh but shattered, and Mu En told her it had no soul and could not be controlled through the Erdtree Blessing.
  • Asumo learned that Pejite had fallen under allied control and gave Nausicaä the Secret Stone, asking her to protect the people and saying he would pass the throne to Asbel.
  • Asumo tried to find his closest minister, but Yupa and the others realized they could no longer recall the young man’s name or face.

Ch. 196Do You Think This Is Just a Game of House?

Asumo and Mu En postponed investigating the mysterious aide and the still-growing Giant God Warrior while Pejite began recovery. At a meeting to negotiate aid, Nausicaä confronted the allied leaders for exploiting Pejite and failing to support it, then challenged their claim that the war was over.

  • Asumo could not recall the identity of the man who had given him the secret stone, and Mu En assigned Blessed Warriors to monitor the growing Giant God Warrior.
  • Prisoners and allied soldiers joined cleanup and rescue work across the City of Pejite.
  • At a conference aboard the Endure Battleship, leaders from allied city-states argued over aid deals that would give them control of Pejite's factories and resources.
  • Nausicaä silenced the leaders with her mental pressure and condemned them for withholding support during the battle, which had cost the lives of two Wind Riders.
  • When the leaders dismissed her criticism and said the war was over, Nausicaä asked whether they thought it was just a game of house.

Ch. 197Alliance

Nausicaä warned the gathered rulers that the Doroks sought the awakening Giant God Warrior beneath Pejite, and that Tolmekia could join the struggle to seize it. She proposed forming an alliance under the Erdtree, centered on the Valley of the Wind, to resist the coming threats.

  • Nausicaä rebuked the leaders for considering an attack on their allies and used a mental projection to show them the Seven Days of Fire and the awakening Giant God Warrior beneath Ruin No. 3.
  • Nausicaä said the Doroks intended to seize the Giant God Warrior and warned that Tolmekia and the Dorok tribes could turn the region into a battlefield.
  • Nausicaä rejected the rulers’ hope of controlling the weapon, explaining that it needed years to mature and might destroy everyone after awakening.
  • The king of Pakashe acknowledged the greater threats but said the border nations would demand compensation for their aid.
  • Nausicaä proposed an alliance under the Erdtree, centered on the Valley of the Wind, to coordinate resources and intelligence against foreign enemies.

Ch. 198If You Can't Resist, You Might as Well Enjoy It

Nausicaä persuaded the nations of the Sea of Corruption to join the Erdtree Alliance under the Valley of the Wind’s leadership, offering access to its technologies for a fee. After the alliance charter was signed, she worried that some members might take benefits without contributing, while Mu En assured her that the plan would gradually bind them more closely.

  • The king of Pakashe and other leaders asked Nausicaä to offer benefits in return for joining her alliance.
  • Nausicaä agreed to make the Valley of the Wind’s technologies available for a fee to nations that joined and accepted its leadership.
  • Pakashe and the other nations agreed to join, and Nausicaä directed them in drafting the Erdtree Alliance charter.
  • The nations replaced their old pact with the Erdtree Alliance, which centralized cooperation and resource allocation under Nausicaä.
  • Nausicaä told Mu En she feared some nations would take benefits without contributing, and Mu En said the Erdtree’s power and his plan would make them increasingly unable to resist.

Ch. 199A Professional God Must Dare to Entrust Matters to His Followers

Mu En entrusted Nausicaä with rebuilding Pejite and organizing the Golden Alliance, and she appointed Haideng to help govern. She then used the Silver Battleship and its escorts to send the allied leaders home in a display of the alliance’s power.

  • Mu En assigned Nausicaä the work of rebuilding Pejite, housing refugees, restoring production, and organizing the alliance.
  • Nausicaä offered Haideng the roles of consul of Pejite and head of the alliance’s personnel, and he accepted after she encouraged him to trust his abilities.
  • Haideng gathered Pejite’s former officials, technicians, and engineers and assigned them administrative and recovery work according to their abilities.
  • Nausicaä and Haideng developed the Erdtree Alliance into a functioning organization, using the Blessing Link to coordinate its Blessed officials.
  • Nausicaä invited the allied nations’ leaders to the docking area and announced that the Silver Battleship and three escort battleships would accompany them home.
  • The allied leaders recognized the escort as a show of force but boarded the ships.

Ch. 200A New Ability from the Sea of Corruption (Wishing Everyone a Happy New Year's Eve!)

The Valley of the Wind prospered after shipments of seized supplies arrived from Pejite, while Mu En studied a new ability in the Golden Forest. He discovered that his golden biological tendrils could extend his senses, energy, and will beyond his roots, and he resolved to use them to create an avatar.

  • The caravan members returned to the Valley of the Wind with Liquid Field equipment, nutrient solution, and orders for Blessed Crops.
  • Airships from Pejite delivered seized supplies, prompting the elders to expand housing, factories, laboratories, and Liquid Fields.
  • Mu En examined golden biological tendrils that the will of the Sea of Corruption had helped him awaken.
  • Mu En sent a tendril from the Erdtree to the seashore and sensed the area while transmitting Golden Rune energy through it.
  • Mu En realized the tendrils could extend his reach beyond his roots and decided to use them to create an avatar.

Ch. 201Applications of Golden Mycelium (There may only be one chapter today; updates depend on how things go)

Mu En studied the golden mycelium and sought a way to use it to regain a living body, since being the Erdtree was gradually stripping away his human feelings. After rejecting the costly, fragile idea of weaving a body from golden threads, he considered using them to control an existing body and remembered Master Kabo’s soul.

  • Mu En spent three days studying the golden threads and realized he would need to create a new spell model to use the mycelium for more than expanding his territory.
  • Mu En recognized that losing his human senses was changing his personality and feared that only the Erdtree would remain if he could never move again.
  • Mu En tried weaving golden threads into a body but found it would take months, remain weak, and be vulnerable to Void’s erosion.
  • Mu En considered using golden threads to control an existing body, which could avoid the cost and limitations of Divine Descent.
  • Mu En thought of the Doroks’ cloning technology and remembered that he still had Master Kabo’s soul to interrogate.

Ch. 202You Must Atone for the Dead (Visiting People Is Exhausting, the Next Chapter Will Be Late)

Trapped in a void after his defeat, Master Kabo faced Mu En, who offered to spare him if he explained the Dorok mission and its connection to the Giant God Warrior. Master Kabo agreed to atone for his crimes in exchange for leniency for his tribespeople.

  • Master Kabo called for Nausicaä to kill him, but Mu En answered and identified himself as the Erdtree.
  • Mu En showed Master Kabo that his surviving warrior monks were being made to clear Pejite’s ruins under guard, then offered to treat them well if Master Kabo cooperated.
  • Master Kabo explained that the Holy Emperor had ordered Dorok’s infiltration of Tolmekia and admitted he had concealed the Giant God Warrior to prevent Miralupa from using it to start another war.
  • Master Kabo said he knew nothing about the Void and had gained black spiritual power around ten years earlier, which accelerated his aging whenever he used it.
  • Master Kabo asked Mu En to spare his tribespeople and accepted responsibility for his actions, offering everything he had to atone.
