The dark clouds obscured the stars and the bright moon, and darkness enveloped New York under the night sky. Mary Jane woke up from her coma, inexplicably feeling a chill. She stood up and looked around, only to find herself above the Brooklyn Bridge.
Looking down, she saw an endless stream of traffic and cargo ships and passenger liners sailing on the river. The cold wind blew against Mary Jane's delicate, thin body. The red-haired girl quickly grabbed the metal structure beside her, afraid of falling with just one slip.
"Hahahaha..."
A sharp, piercing laugh tore through the night sky. Mary Jane looked towards the sound and saw the supervillain Green Goblin, who had caused chaos at the carnival. That notorious, terrifying demon stood on his glider, spewing unrestrained, rampant laughter.
The mini-missiles mounted on the glider were launched towards a building construction site below the Brooklyn Bridge. With a loud bang, surging flames illuminated the night sky. The tremendous explosion resounded through heaven and earth. The blast wave, carrying flames, rolled over. The cars driving on the bridge, as if startled, hastily dodged. With a bang, they crashed into the guardrail, losing control. Chain-reaction rear-end collisions followed one after another.
In an instant, the bridge was jammed into a long dragon. Dozens of cars collided, and the scene was chaotic. The previously smooth traffic immediately lost order, and even the hastily arriving police cars could not get through.
Sean stood not far away with Gwen, taking in the entire scene. The Green Goblin had clearly issued a challenge to New York's friendly neighborhood hero, Spider-Man. As expected, it didn't take long before a red figure, like Tarzan, arrived at the scene, swinging on webs.
"Spider-Man! This is why fools become heroes, because you never know when some lunatic will give you a cruel dilemma: let the woman you love die... or let innocent children die?!"
Spider-Man agilely maneuvered above the Brooklyn Bridge. By the time he arrived, the Green Goblin was holding Mary Jane in one hand and the steel cable hanging the school bus in the other, letting out a malicious laugh.
"Spider-Man!"
"Save us!"
"Someone help me..."
The children in the school bus saw the superhero famous throughout New York and shouted for help. Meanwhile, Mary Jane was suspended in mid-air. If the Green Goblin let go slightly, she would plummet into the cold riverbed.
"Make your decision quickly, Spider-Man!"
The Green Goblin urged Spider-Man to make a choice as soon as possible. He loved the thrill of toying with his opponents and watching them suffer and struggle!
"Being a hero comes with a price!" the sharp voice said mockingly.
"Don't do this, Green Goblin!" Peter pleaded, unwilling to abandon anyone.
"Your fate is in your hands, now—make your decision!" The Green Goblin looked at the hesitant Spider-Man and let out a sinister cackle, then simultaneously released his arms.
The school bus and Mary Jane fell simultaneously. The children's terrified screams and the cries for help from the girl he loved echoed in Peter's ears. Spider-Man decisively ran towards Mary Jane, leaping down and catching the red-haired girl in mid-air. Then, another web was shot out, sticking to the Brooklyn Bridge, and the falling school bus was also saved in time.
Peter held Mary Jane in one arm and struggled to hold onto the heavy school bus as it plummeted. At the same time, the Green Goblin flew over in his glider, unwilling to stand by and watch Spider-Man save the citizens.
Peter, suspended in mid-air, became the Green Goblin's live target. He had to hold the school bus and protect Mary Jane from harm, so he could only silently endure the Green Goblin's punches and kicks.
"It's time to die!" Sharp blades popped out from the glider, and the Green Goblin laughed maniacally as he charged towards Spider-Man, intending to end the life of this New York hero.
Bang bang bang!
A series of gunshots hit the flying Green Goblin. A few sparks erupted. Although the armor had bulletproof capabilities, the kinetic energy of the bullets still caused the Green Goblin to deviate from his original direction, wobbling and crashing to the other side.
On the Brooklyn Bridge, dozens of police officers finally arrived. The one who had just fired the shots decisively was the recently promoted Police Chief George.
"Ah! That's my father!" Gwen, who was anxiously watching the scene, cried out in surprise. She saw her father.
"It's dangerous there now, and you can't help by going over. Don't worry, your father will be fine!"
Sean held back Gwen, who was about to rush over. If she were caught in the crossfire between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin, it wouldn't be good. He might have to step in himself. There were so many onlookers on the bridge, making it difficult to act.
The battle continued on the Brooklyn Bridge. A cargo ship sailing on the river channel caught the school bus carrying the children and teachers. Mary Jane also gained temporary safety. Spider-Man could finally free his hands to deal with the Green Goblin's attacks.
The two fought fiercely, evenly matched. The Green Goblin relied on his high-tech equipment and endless new weapons, while Spider-Man, with his extraordinary agility, dodged flexibly, occasionally shooting out webs to disrupt his opponent's flight.
"Heh heh, New York's great hero, try this!"
The Green Goblin controlled his glider, waving a long steel cable in his hand, binding Spider-Man in mid-air, and then dragging him away from the Brooklyn Bridge.
"Alright, it's all over. You can go find the Police Chief now."
Sean smiled faintly. Like a chivalrous protector, he escorted the girl to the police car. Just as Gwen was about to introduce him to her father, she turned around and found that the young boy's figure had already disappeared into the night.
In a deserted old house, Spider-Man was thrown from high up, smashing through the fragile roof and glass windows, and falling to the ground in a sorry state.
Before he could even get up, a pumpkin bomb rolled to Peter's feet. The scorching flames stirred up the air, and the intense shockwave directly blew Spider-Man away, smashing into a solitary wall. He was buried under the bricks and stones.
"You chose a tragic fate, poor Spider-Man..."
The Green Goblin jumped off his glider and walked up to Peter, who was covered in wounds. He unleashed a fierce, stormy barrage of blows. The injured Spider-Man was completely unable to fight back and could only endure his opponent's beating.
"I thought you would resist more fiercely, how boring!"
The Green Goblin, completely dominating, tore off Spider-Man's mask, placed a foot on Peter's head, and sneered, "My son considered you a friend, yet you betrayed him and got involved with that little red-haired slut!"
"Peter Parker, you will pay the price for this!"
Peter, his face covered in blood, struggled to look up at the terrifying demon mask. "Uncle Norman? How could it be you?!"
The young and inexperienced Spider-Man couldn't believe that the gentle and respected Uncle Norman, Harry's father, could be the brutal and violent Green Goblin!
"Unfortunately, you can only take this secret with you and say goodbye to the world forever."
The Green Goblin's murderous intent was ignited. The violence and killing within him surged towards his brain like boiling blood. He kicked Peter's head forcefully. Amidst the intense pain, Peter suddenly lost consciousness and fainted.
"I still have to do it myself, Peter, you're really unreliable."
Just as the Green Goblin was about to deliver a fatal blow, a young boy emerged from the shadows, a faint smile on his face, as if he had just enjoyed a spectacular show.
"Who are you?" The Green Goblin felt a sense of vigilance rise in his heart.
"A boring question."
Sean strode forward like an arrow loosed from a bow, instantly lunging in front of the Green Goblin. His fierce fist, trailing a gust of wind, sent the Green Goblin, who had given Spider-Man so much trouble, flying sideways as if hit head-on by a car at full throttle.
Crack!
An intense wave of pain washed over him. The Green Goblin couldn't help but howl loudly. Sean had directly snapped one of the opponent's arms. He felt no sympathy whatsoever for this cunning and sinister supervillain.
"Say goodbye to this world, Norman Osborn." Sean removed the Green Goblin's mask, revealing the pale, contorted face of a middle-aged man.
"Please! Spare me... I can help you get anything you want! Just let me live!" The renowned president of Osborn Industries now begged without dignity, willing to give up everything he owned to gain a sliver of hope for survival.
"Alas, Mr. Osborn, you're quite dishonest." Another crisp snap of bone echoed as Sean mercilessly broke the man's other arm. "Trying to control a glider? That's not something a smart person would do."
"What I want, I'll get my own way. Mr. Osborn, please accept death quietly... I'll take good care of Osborn Industries for you."
Sean took the Pumpkin Bombs from the Green Goblin and, under Norman Osborn's terrified gaze, arranged them in a circle, as if performing some wicked ritual.
"No, no, no! I..."
The Green Goblin, attempting to escape in his final moment, was kicked back into place by Sean. The next second, fierce flames surged upward, engulfing the struggling Norman Osborn.
"A fulfilling day..."
The young boy's silhouette gradually disappeared into the darkness, leaving only a faint remark echoing in the silent night sky.
