Manhattan, Baxter Building.
Sean pulled Mindy, who was carrying a small backpack, into the elevator. It ascended until the numbers stopped at the forty-eighth floor. A large and a small figure were led by the long-awaiting property manager into their new home.
"Wow... this is amazing, Sean!" Mindy exclaimed excitedly, her mouth agape.
The first thing the little loli's eyes fell upon was the massive transparent floor-to-ceiling windows. Sunlight streamed in from outside, illuminating the temporarily spacious hall. Outside the window, dense, towering buildings stood like trees growing in a forest. Once night fell, standing here and looking out, one could admire nearby Park Avenue and Central Park, as well as the vibrant, colorful lights, giving the illusion of overlooking all of New York.
The European-style decor, with its simple style, and the brand new, fully equipped furniture made Mindy extremely satisfied with the new home. She couldn't wait to rush into a room and pick out a bedroom she liked.
"Kids can be a bit boisterous," Sean said with a chuckle, his eyes soft.
Mindy had lost her mother when she was very young and lived with her father afterward. It had to be said that the police officer father had been a complete failure in his role, raising his daughter as a killing machine. As a result, Mindy lacked normal values and a concept of daily life, developing a bad habit of resorting to violence to solve problems, even taking lives without batting an eye.
Fortunately, under Sean's deliberate guidance, this little blonde loli had gradually forgotten her past life. Those bloody and painful memories had faded into old photographs, sealed deep within her heart by the passage of time.
Now, their relationship was somewhat like family. Two lonely souls living together, giving and receiving a rare warmth in their hearts.
"It seems you are quite satisfied with the Baxter Building. This building has fifty floors, and the residents are all elite individuals of New York. By the way, Mr. Reed Richards lives on the floor above you. You are both geniuses renowned in New York, so I believe you will have common topics. The Baxter Building is honored to have you as residents."
The well-dressed property manager fawned. Anyone who had read the newspapers recently would likely not be unfamiliar with Sean's face. After all, both entertainment tabloids and academic magazines were vying to report on this young man who possessed the dual halos of a new-found tycoon and a scientific genius.
"Reed Richards?" Sean's eyes flickered. The man, hailed as one of the top three geniuses in the world, living above him was an interesting coincidence. "I'll pay him a visit when I have time. I've always looked forward to meeting Dr. Richards."
After seeing off the solicitous property manager, Sean walked onto the balcony. Mindy was busy decorating her room, and the excitement of moving into a new home wouldn't likely subside anytime soon. Sean let her fuss around. His pocket vibrated, and he took out his phone, answering a call from Wesley.
"How did it go?" Sean asked.
"Everything went as you predicted, Boss," a respectful voice came from the other end of the phone. "When I mentioned Danny Rand and the Hand, Alexandra's attitude immediately changed. She readily agreed to your request."
"Alexandra doesn't have much time left. The shadow of death looms, and no one can remain calm."
Sean stood on the balcony, overlooking the city below. Cars flowed like a long dragon on the road. Gazing into the distance, the winding Hudson River could be vaguely seen.
While admiring the Manhattan scenery from above, he instructed Wesley, "Keep an eye on Danny Rand. I'll go see him personally tonight."
"Boss, are you really going to help the Hand complete their plan?" Wesley hesitated and asked.
Sean had revealed the Hand's plan to him entirely. If Alexandra unearthed the giant Dragon Bone buried underground, it was said to affect the foundations of all of New York. If the city sank and collapsed, who knew how many people would die in such a disaster.
Although Wesley was not a benevolent person, the thought of millions dying made him hesitate and feel a pang of pity.
"How could I let these death-seeking madmen destroy New York? I'll hand Danny Rand over to Alexandra, but the Dragon Bone and the Hand are not for them to meddle with."
Sean chuckled softly in the breeze. The Dragon Bone that could revive the dead, and the Hand with its global influence, these two things were his goals. As for Alexandra and the other Hand leaders, someone would naturally deal with them for him.
"Those street heroes in Hell's Kitchen, they should have gathered by now, right?"
"The Punisher and Daredevil have approached some people, but they don't seem to be getting along well." Wesley used his resources to track these targets. "The Hand found Danny Rand earlier, but he escaped. Those ninjas are no match for him. And Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have also followed some clues and investigated that company of the Hand... In short, everyone has gathered."
"Mm, very good. A large wave of points is coming my way." Sean nodded with satisfaction. Thinking of the dazzling exchange list in his mind, his heart couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.
"What did you say, Boss?" Wesley felt that his boss, who was occasionally out of touch, seemed to treat all of this as a game.
"Uh, I said you did a great job. You'll get a promotion and a raise soon, reaching the pinnacle of life... Keep up the good work, Wesley."
Sean's perfunctory reply left Wesley speechless. He could never quite figure out his boss's personality. Sometimes he seemed very approachable, and other times he appeared cold and decisive, showing no mercy. Most of the time, the other party wore a sunny smile, like a gentle and cheerful boy next door. But when he encountered an opponent, or when he targeted something, he would immediately exude a deep, dark aura.
It was precisely because of this unpredictable mysteriousness that Wesley became even more cautious, not daring to harbor any thought of betrayal. In his eyes, his young boss was even more terrifying than the former Black Emperor, Kingpin.
After hanging up the phone, Sean stretched his neck. A hint of excitement rose in his calm eyes. He felt the surging power within him, and the warm sunlight seeped into his body like water, drop by drop, as if transforming into electric currents, stimulating the cells and tiny molecules in his body.
"I have a feeling I'm going to get a pentakill achievement tonight," Sean clenched his fist and grinned.
"Sean, how are we going to celebrate tonight? Let's go to Chinatown! Roast duck is much tastier than pizza! I've already prepared new clothes!" Mindy said excitedly as she walked out, dressed in a princess-like gown that made the little blonde loli even more adorable.
"Uh, if I tell you I have other plans tonight, you won't blame me, right?" Sean said cautiously, looking at Mindy, who was brimming with joy.
The spacious living room fell silent for a second, and then, accompanied by an angry shout of "Liar!", the frenzied blonde loli began to chase Sean madly. The large and small figures chased each other around the new home, ending half an hour later with Mindy collapsing on the sofa.
"I'll make it up to you next time, okay?" Sean sat on the sofa and patted Mindy's little head.
"Mm, only this time... And don't touch my head!" Mindy nestled on the soft sofa like a kitten. "Remember, come back safely."
