Sea Circle Calendar, Year 1490
A strange island in the first half of the Grand Line: the Stomach Baron, the Boin Archipelago.
At the edge of the island, a boy with long golden hair lay on a giant leaf with his legs crossed. He was naked except for a grass skirt around his waist.
The man-eating plant behind the boy stretched out its leaves and overlapped them, holding him aloft like a pair of giant hands. Large drops of sweat streamed down the plant's face in the sunlight. It glanced up at the sun, then carried the boy toward the interior of the island.
After entering the forest, the man-eating plant extended its long tongue and gently patted the boy's cheek, waking him from his sleep.
As he slowly awoke, the boy felt that his cheek was wet. He swung his fist and slammed it straight into the man-eating plant's enormous head.
He plucked a huge piece of meat on the bone from a nearby plant and ate as he spoke angrily.
"Damn it, Pea! How many times have I told you not to wake me up with your tongue?!"
"Your drool's all over my face!"
After he finished the huge piece of meat in his hand, Pea rubbed the bump on its head with a handlike leaf. It stepped forward angrily, repeatedly overlapping its two leaves in a lifting motion.
The boy knitted his little brows and stared at the "peashooter" in front of him. He seemed to sense something, and an embarrassed look appeared on his face. Then he pursed his lips.
"Next time, next time, you can put me down first."
With that, he turned his head and resumed eating the food beside him.
The boy had subdued this man-eating plant by force over the past three years. Because it looked like a peashooter from the game Plants vs. Zombies, he had named it "Pea."
Hearing the boy's words, Pea grew even angrier. It pointed a leaf at the spot on its head where it had been hit last time and brought it close to the boy's face.
The boy pushed away the enormous face leaning toward him and sensed the voice coming from the giant flower.
"Last time I put you down first, and you still hit me!!!"
It was hard to imagine seeing such a humanlike side of a plant. But this was the world of One Piece. (Well, that explained it.)
Yes, this was Roy's third year in the world of One Piece. When he was eight, he had gone out to sea with his parents for a pleasure trip and encountered pirates. His father had put him in a barrel and thrown him into the sea. When Roy woke up, he was already on this strange island.
At the time, Roy had just woken up and couldn't understand why he had opened his eyes to the boundless sea instead of his familiar rented room.
A burst of searing pain went through his head, and the two sets of memories merged. Only then did Roy realize that he had probably transmigrated.
Roy wasn't frightened by his transmigration. On the contrary, he was delighted. He was just an ordinary wage slave and an orphan anyway. As long as he was alive, it didn't matter where he was.
Brushing the sand off his body, Roy immediately set out to explore the island behind him.
He saw plants covered in all kinds of food, ants as big as trucks, and the island's many different varieties of man-eating plants that could run around on "two legs." He also survived several dangerous occasions when the island beneath him fed.
Roy was astonished to discover that he had transmigrated into the world of One Piece, and onto the very island where Usopp, the Straw Hat Pirates' sniper, had trained for two years.
Seeing a News Coo in the air, Roy hurriedly picked some food from nearby and exchanged it for a newspaper.
Three years ago, Roy had seen a News Coo take a newspaper out of its shoulder bag with "one hand" while using its other hand to maintain its balance in the air. Since then, he had gradually begun to grow accustomed to this strange new world.
So whenever a News Coo passed by, he would always trade it for a newspaper to find out what point in time this world had reached. After all, for a transmigrator, foreknowledge was the greatest cheat.
He picked a cup of juice and took up the newspaper...
Whitebeard and Golden Lion had each formed their own pirate crews and were fighting over territory.
Charlotte Linlin and Kaido had fallen out and gone their separate ways.
Charlotte Linlin really was beautiful when she was young. He didn't know what kind of fetish that old bastard Oda had. The beauties in the world of One Piece really were beautiful when they were young, but they all turned into wrinkled old women when they got old.
But none of that had anything to do with him right now. After all, he was only eleven.
"The Roger Pirates destroyed the Sorrows Kingdom."
The young Pirate King!!!
He looked at the photo of the man in a captain's hat, with a mustache curling high on either side of his face and a silly grin, along with the extraordinary-looking companions behind him.
"They really are one of the top pirate crews on the seas."
Roy sighed in admiration!
Huh???
Roy noticed two kids in the corner of the photo, one with red hair and the other with a red nose. They were probably the two apprentices, Shanks and Buggy. Judging by their appearance, they were only six or seven now. Looking at their ages,
Bullet probably hasn't joined the crew yet, has he?
If I get the chance, I could visit the Endless War Country and see if I can snatch him up first. With Bullet's talent, if the Marines hadn't captured him, he'd definitely have been an emperor-level powerhouse!
At that thought, Roy put down the newspaper and began his training.
Roy ran around the island with a large rock on his back, did push-ups and sit-ups, and practiced slashing with a wooden stick after finishing those exercises.
After all, aside from Devil Fruits, physical combat and swordsmanship were the mainstream in the world of One Piece.
At first, Roy had tried calling for a system and the like, only to discover he had none of those things. Still, he didn't feel disappointed.
Because he had transmigrated, Roy's spirit was exceptionally strong. After three years of training, he could easily read the minds of other living beings. On top of that, there was plenty of food on the Boin Archipelago, and it contained enormous amounts of energy.
Roy's physique grew stronger, and his spiritual power steadily increased. At eleven, he was already around 1.8 meters tall. Once he was fully grown, he would probably be as tall as an Admiral, hehe.
He had good physical talent and powerful spiritual strength, and he had awakened Observation Haki like that of Count Patrick Redfield early on. It also covered an enormous range.
Roy rubbed his chin, feeling that he was especially powerful now. "But these basic training methods can't do much to improve my strength anymore."
"I've decided. I'll head out to sea and look for some more effective training methods first."
Roy sat cross-legged on the ground, struck his palm with his right fist, and shouted happily.
The next day, Roy was sleeping by the sea as usual when he felt the leaf beneath him shaking violently. He was just about to punch Pea when he saw it stretching out a long leaf and pointing toward the sea.
Roy turned to look. A merchant ship was sailing several hundred meters away. Overjoyed, Roy patted the man-eating plant beside him and laughed. "Nice work, Pea. Wait for me at home. I'll come back for you when the time comes!"
Without waiting for Pea to respond, he hurriedly jumped into the sea and swam toward the sailing ship.
With Roy's current physique and his years of swimming practice, catching up to a sailing ship moving at a steady speed was easy enough.
Just as Roy was rapidly approaching the sailing ship,
A sailor aboard the merchant ship was leaning against the rail in boredom, chatting with a colleague to pass the time. He seemed to spot something out of the corner of his eye. Turning to look, he saw Roy speeding through the sea.
"Hey, hey, hey, is that for real?"
Staring at Roy as he swam toward them, the sailor rapidly patted his companion's shoulder.
"Doron, there's someone swimming toward us out at sea!!"
Doron pushed the sailor's hand away and said calmly, "Don't joke about that, Sim. Who'd be bored enough to go swimming out at sea?"
"It's true, Doron, look! He's swimming so fast, and he's getting closer and closer to us."
With that, he didn't wait for his companion's answer and hurried off to report his discovery to the captain...
