Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Battlefield-trained physical fighter | 22 23 | Already possesses a basic understanding of Observation Haki. His strength and combat experience initially exceed Roy’s in direct hand-to-hand combat. |
| Haki training under Roy | 24 | Draws out his own Haki after Roy twice uses mental power to demonstrate its sensation; begins refining it through regular training. |
| Tenfold-gravity resistance | 26 27 | After a year of training, can coat his arms in Armament Haki and continue advancing under ten times gravity, though his speed falls sharply. |
| Newly awakened Conqueror’s Haki | 29 | Uses it against Vice Admiral Varmo, but its early mental pressure has little effect on the veteran Marine. |
| Mythical Zoan White Tiger Model | 40 | Eats the fruit selected for him by Roy and begins exploring its transformations and abilities. |
| Increased gravity conditioning | 45 | Adapts to ten times gravity and requests a twelve-times-gravity training zone; also punches mountainsides without Haki. |
| Internal-destruction Armament Haki | 47 | Following four years of training, possesses enormous Haki reserves and a physique assessed as not far below Kaido’s. Can fight an emperor-level opponent for an entire day. |
| Initial Conqueror’s Haki Coating | 78 | Demonstrates unstable black-and-red lightning around his fist after the brutal Marine battle. |
| Established Conqueror’s Haki Coating | 133 | Exchanges a non-contact clash with Kaido, who recognizes that Bullet has mastered the technique. |
| Internal Forging and Wind Armament | 153 | Improves the strength of his Armament Haki and combines it with his fruit’s wind and metal properties into an offensive-defensive form. |
| Bloodline optimization | 277 297 | Becomes the second Roy Pirates member to undergo the transplant. His strength, recovery, speed, reactions, defenses, and combat instincts improve. |
| Sixty-times-gravity combat training | 278 | Trains against Kaido for hours daily over three months. Both can barely fight at seventy times gravity, so their sustained training is set at sixty. |
| White Tiger Fruit Awakening | 530 | Awakens during his fifth solo challenge against Whitebeard. Gains awakened Zoan clouds, greater recovery, and battlefield assimilation of metal and wind blades. |
| Iron Balloon transplant | 619 | Receives the defensive enhancement first. A test slash from Mihawk’s Black Blade Yoru leaves only a faint white mark on his chest. |
| Three-fruit combat combination | 754 764 | Demonstrates the White Tiger, Combine-Combine, and More-More powers together, creating an enormous armored beast with hundredfold amplification. The additional fruits’ acquisition is not shown in these passages. |
| Further six-month improvement | 865 | Roy assesses Bullet’s strength as having increased by another thirty percent through intensive battles on the training islands. |
Background / History
Galzburg’s War Hero
Bullet grew up fighting on battlefields in Galzburg, one of the states within the Country of Endless War. Despite the island’s centuries of conflict, he remained committed to bringing it peace. Before meeting Roy, he returned alone from a battle with grave injuries after his own teammates betrayed him, leaving him angry and unable to understand their motives 20 21 23.
He spent most of his time inside the military camp, training intensely and rarely visiting town. Savi knew him as a celebrated soldier, while Bullet proudly identified himself as the country’s hero 21 22 23.
Recruitment by Roy
Roy contacted Bullet by planting a challenge directly in his mind. Bullet immediately abandoned his plans to eat and sought out the promised opponent. Their first encounter established Bullet’s superiority in straightforward physical combat, but Roy’s psychic interference and Haki earned his attention 22 23.
Bullet initially rejected joining a pirate crew, insisting that he would end his country’s war. Roy challenged both his prospects and his limited view of the world. Although their next fight ended without a winner, Bullet returned three days later and gradually became a regular sparring partner, learning Haki and taking part in gravity training 23 24 25.
His loyalty to Galzburg collapsed when General Douglas Gray openly admitted that he had arranged with Cipher Pol to dispose of him. Bullet defeated the agents, then accepted Roy’s invitation after warning him against another betrayal. Roy answered by offering his own life should he ever betray Bullet 27 28.
Appearance
Bullet is a towering, heavily muscled man who reaches five meters in height by age seventeen 47.
- Hair: Short, purple-gray hair 613.
- Early clothing: A green military uniform with medals; later retains green military pants and boots 24 47.
- Human-beast form: White fur, clawed hands, fangs, a tiger tail, and the character for “king” on his forehead 231 865.
- Awakened form: Swirling flame clouds accompany his White Tiger transformation 530 682.
- Combined armor: Surrounding inorganic material forms armor over his tiger body, often enveloped in purple Demonic Aura 865 902.
Personality
Bullet is intensely competitive and seeks opponents who can push him beyond his limits. He prefers a difficult fight to an easy victory, treats powerful enemies as whetstones, and repeatedly challenges Whitebeard simply because he wants to fight—not for revenge. His appetite for combat can make him reckless, particularly when he insists on meeting superior force head-on 22 54 231 297 530.
Betrayal initially makes him guarded and suspicious. Time spent with Roy’s companions softens his habitual hostility, and his later actions show strong loyalty to the crew. He rejects Roy’s suggestion that their injuries were the captain’s burden alone, insisting that surviving together is what matters 20 25 28 78.
His harshness as an instructor is partly protective: he pushes Savi because he fears the boy will otherwise die against future enemies. He is also capable of tactical restraint, accepting Roy’s orders to withdraw or wait even when eager to continue fighting 25 30 347 664.
Abilities & Skills
Physical Strength, Durability, and Recovery
Bullet’s foundation is a battlefield-hardened body reinforced through gravity training, bloodline optimization, and his Mythical Zoan 23 278 297.
- Defeats Jack in under three minutes using Armament Haki and physical techniques without activating his Devil Fruit 127.
- Recovers visibly from wounds during his rematch with Zephyr, allowing him to endure attacks that would cripple ordinary opponents 297 298.
- Withstands Whitebeard’s tremor-powered shockwave head-on and later trades blows with him directly 415 425.
- Shatters the Iron Wall Kingdom’s Seastone wall with an awakened White Tiger charge 726.
- Eventually outlasts Garp in a fight where the older Marine’s stamina becomes the deciding limitation 866.
His resilience is not invulnerability. Sengoku’s concentrated attack seriously injures him, Ochoku repeatedly overpowers him, and Imu’s lightning pierces his Demonic Aura 70 231 920.
Haki and Demonic Aura
Bullet uses all three types of Haki, with especially large Armament reserves 29 47 88.
- Observation Haki: Locates Roy and Mihawk beneath debris after a devastating impact 88.
- Armament Haki: Uses full-body hardening, internal destruction, and later Internal Forging to strengthen his attacks and defenses 46 47 153.
- Conqueror’s Haki: Can clash with other powerful users and coat his attacks in black-and-red lightning 78 103 133.
- Demonic Aura: Releases it alongside Conqueror’s Haki during battle and wraps it around his combined armor 710 902.
- Resistance to suppression: Expels the clinging black mist of Roy’s experimental Dark-Dark Fruit technique with Conqueror’s Haki, restoring his sealed fruit ability 777.
Early in his career, quantity did not guarantee superior Haki. Zephyr’s more concentrated, higher-quality Armament overwhelmed Bullet despite his substantial reserves 85.
Mythical Zoan: White Tiger Model
The White Tiger Fruit grants full-beast and human-beast transformations, enhanced physical power, regeneration, and abilities involving wind and metal 40 53 70 153.
- Forms steel knuckle-dusters over his tiger claws and gathers thin wind blades around himself 53.
- Combines Armament Haki with wind and metallic properties to create Wind Armament, a form Roy finds difficult to breach quickly without rule-altering attacks 153.
- Uses his awakened power to assimilate surrounding rubble and metal into armor 530 536.
- Switches from full-beast to human-beast form when the larger body makes him too easy a target against an Admiral-level opponent 70.
| Named Technique | Demonstrated Effect |
|---|---|
| Tiger’s Roar: Heaven Splitter | Meets Kaido’s Thunder Bagua in a clash that blows away the auction house’s dome 65. |
| White Tiger: Heaven-Rending Strike | Combines Mythical Zoan strength with internal-destruction Armament Haki; smashes through Kuzan’s defensive ice walls 68. |
| White Tiger: Heaven-Splitting Claw | Tears through Kaido’s Haki lightning 133. |
| Wind-Thunder Break | Cuts Kaido’s arm during their clash 133. |
Combine-Combine and More-More Fruits
Bullet supplements his White Tiger power with two additional Devil Fruits 754.
- Combine-Combine Fruit: Draws in inorganic matter and shapes it into armor around his body 754 764.
- More-More Fruit: Provides hundredfold amplification, expanding his combined beast to tens of thousands of meters 764.
- Combined strike: Stacks the three fruits with Haki into an attack described as powerful enough to erase a large island 754.
- Speed enhancement: Accelerates his punches so severely against Imu that the armor on his arms cracks with each blow 915.
The combination remains vulnerable to fruit suppression: Roy collapses Bullet’s giant form by binding him and sealing the White Tiger power 754.
Martial Arts and Six Powers
Bullet turns fists, feet, elbows, and knees into weapons, favoring direct, forceful close combat 23.
- Uses Geppo to maneuver in midair and recover after being launched by Kaido 133.
- Combines Tekkai: Steel with Armament Haki to withstand Zephyr’s Shigan barrage 297.
- Uses Geppo: Instant to evade a vacuum slash and counter with Beast King Fist 297.
Combat Instruction and Command
As the crew’s combat-training chief, Bullet oversees Trial Island and the creation of an elite force from surrendered pirates and island residents 257.
- Corrects Crocodile’s Haki flow, anticipation, and physical techniques during sparring 195.
- Pushes Enel to develop clouds beyond thunder and urges Pea to use plants more dynamically 179.
- Tailors Van Augur’s training toward endurance, concealment, environmental adaptation, and selecting sniping positions 399.
- Selects Wakari Bar for personal instruction after testing his strength and durability 449.
- Leads five hundred trained fighters in an offensive that defeats the Bone Crusher Pirates and secures Iron Hook Island within five days 267.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Steel knuckle-dusters: Formed over his tiger claws in human-beast form and reinforced with Armament Haki 53 54.
- Combined armor: Constructed from nearby inorganic matter through his fruit powers 754 865.
- Kikoku and Masamune: Takes both swords from the Rothschild family vault during the Mary Geoise raid; the passages do not establish them as his regular weapons 289.
Relationships
- Roy — Captain, recruiter, and Haki teacher. Their bond develops from wary rivalry into trust; Bullet repeatedly protects him and obeys his decisions despite wanting to keep fighting 24 28 70 78 347.
- Savi — Admirer and early pupil. Bullet gives him especially severe training to keep him from becoming too weak to survive future battles 25 32 45.
- Dracule Mihawk / Hawk Eyes — Fellow officer and training partner. They seek Conqueror’s Haki Coating together, and Mihawk later tests Bullet’s transplanted defenses with Yoru 59 619.
- Tesoro — Comrade and frequent target of competitive teasing. Tesoro’s suggestion that he might someday defeat Bullet immediately prompts a challenge 168.
- Kaido — Recurring rival and sparring partner. Their two-day fight ends in a reported draw, and they later train together under sixty times gravity 168 278.
- Whitebeard — Benchmark for Bullet’s growth. Repeated solo challenges against him culminate in the White Tiger Fruit’s Awakening 530.
- Zephyr — Powerful Marine opponent who initially overwhelms him. In their rematch, Bullet uses Zephyr to test his optimized body 85 297 298.
- Douglas Gray — Former commander whose plot to eliminate Bullet destroys his remaining loyalty to Galzburg’s army 27 28.
- Wakari Bar — Personally selected student whom Bullet continues training alongside the Reserve Camp soldiers 449 459.
- Monkey D. Luffy — Later sparring opponent. Bullet dominates their contest in raw strength but acknowledges Luffy’s troublesome recovery and earns his enthusiastic respect 871 872.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Early Voyages and Marine Battles

- Takes charge of combat training and Trial Island, then leads territorial expansion against the Bone Crusher Pirates and Iron Hook Island 257 267.
- Participates in the Mary Geoise vault raids with Roy and Tesoro, defeating guards and protecting the passage while treasures are collected 289.

- Joins the assault against the Five Elders and sends Saint Warcury flying with a punch 902.
- Attacks Imu alongside Kaido, but their initial ten-minute assault inflicts only shallow wounds that quickly heal 911.
- Coordinates with Kaido and Mihawk to barely hold Imu in place, using More-More-enhanced punches at the cost of damage to his own armor 915.
- Survives three lightning strikes that penetrate his Demonic Aura and insists on standing without assistance 920.

Trivia
- Roy initially withholds the Combine-Combine Fruit because he has selected a different power for Bullet. Bullet nevertheless comes to wield it later alongside the White Tiger and More-More Fruits 30 754.
- “Blood Axe” Bullet is a separate character. The axe-wielding pirate confronted by Garp is not Douglas Bullet of the Roy Pirates 508 513.
