"Bite"
"Scum!"
A metallic clang rang in everyone's ears, followed by a curse.
The saw blade in Dalton's hand flew out and stuck in the snow not far away. A deep dent was made on the blade by the throwing knife, and the small throwing knife was bent into an arc.
A figure slowly emerged from the thick fog in the distance. As the figure drew closer, they discovered that it was carrying another person wrapped up like a caterpillar on its back. This person was wearing a black hooded cloak, the hood obscuring its face.
The scene seemed to freeze, everyone's attention was drawn to the figure. As the figure approached, Double Axe swallowed hard. Although he couldn't see the person's face, he felt an invisible pressure and couldn't move his legs to run.
Dalton didn't know who had saved him. The person's aura was unfamiliar, but he didn't sense any malice or even any emotional outpouring. Perhaps the person had saved him casually, with only a slight emotional fluctuation at the moment of the rescue.
The expressions on the faces of the soldiers and the pirate henchmen were priceless. Dalton had just missed cutting off his own left arm by mere centimeters. The soldiers were already blaming themselves for not stopping Dalton. Seeing Dalton mutilate himself, they resignedly closed their eyes until the sound of metal clashing rang out.
"I have a patient on my back. You must all be doctors, could you take a look at him?"
The newcomer lifted his hood, revealing a young and handsome face. His gaze was fixed on the doctors surrounded by pirates.
The person who arrived was Vic. After experiencing several incidents of falling to the island from the sky, he was brought to the waters of Drum Island by Xiaobai at high speed.
Although he angrily cursed Kaido on the small boat, telling him to come out and fight him one-on-one, Vic really didn't want to fight Kaido right now. It wasn't that he was afraid of him, but mainly because Wendy's illness really couldn't be delayed any longer.
Wrap Wendy up like a caterpillar and tie her to his back, Vic immediately landed on the island. He hadn't gone far when he discovered the conflict between the pirates and Dalton, and he overheard quite a bit of their conversation.
Moreover, he discovered that there were quite a few doctors here, which was perfect for Wendy to see immediately. However, Dalton's subsequent act of being forced to harm himself truly shocked Vic!
Some might say Dalton was truly foolish, sacrificing himself for unrelated people, and that it wasn't worth it at all.
But you have to think about Dalton's position, what are his responsibilities? This reminded Vic of those public servants in his past life who sacrificed themselves to save people. Vic admired this kind of purity, and he didn't want to see such people disappear from this world.
"We can help you take a look, but right now..." one of the doctors said, raising his hands which were bound by rope. They would naturally help patients without hesitation, but now they were prisoners and had no power to do so!
"I'll take care of the pirates for you, and you treat my illness." Vic understood what the doctor meant.
"Who are you! We have hostages, try moving!" The thug with the knife quickly grabbed a doctor from behind and held the knife to his neck.
"Who do you think you are? Do you think you can just kill us whenever you want? Do you think my axe is just for show?"
The Double Axe was somewhat dismissive of Vic, a young man. At first, he thought Vic was a master, but now, seeing Vic's face, he only thought that Dalton's weapon was too thin and soft. His own great axes were indestructible, and the two axes together weighed five thousand pounds, which was incomparable to Dalton's weapon.
"Young man, they have hostages. We can't act rashly without a foolproof plan..."
Before Dalton could finish speaking, the young man had vanished. All they heard was the sharp sound of blades cutting through the air, and then they found that Vic had returned to his original spot.
"Crunch..."
A series of sounds rang out as objects fell onto the snow. Dalton and the soldiers behind him were dumbfounded, their eyes practically popping out of their sockets.
Except for the Double Axe were still standing in place, all the pirates had a small knife stuck in their heads, the blades completely embedded in their skulls, leaving only the hilts and the red ribbons fluttering in the wind behind them. They lay on the ground, their eyes still wide open, a trace of surprise lingering in them.
"You, you, you..."
For a moment, Double Axe felt a surge of fear and instinctively raised his axe, which narrowly saved him from the flying knife Vic was aiming at his eyes.
Seeing all his underlings around him and behind him dead, he was so terrified that he wet himself, soaking his crotch, which quickly froze in the low temperature.
"This..."
Dalton was speechless. He hadn't even seen what Vic had done when the pirates who had driven him to self-harm were now corpses, and the person who had done it was untying the ropes binding the sick man, seemingly unconcerned about what he had done.
"They were all killed with a single, deep stab to the brain. They didn't even feel anything when they died. This isn't something you can do by killing just one or two people!"
"This person probably understands physiology better than we do. I wonder how many people he's killed at such a young age? Is he good or evil?"
"We are doctors. Regardless of whether they are good or evil, we must treat any patient!"
Voices rose from among the doctors; they were also shocked by the pirate's death, but quickly turned their attention back to their own field.
After untying Wendy Vic carried her in his arms and walked toward the doctor, without even glancing at the Double Axe whose legs were trembling.
Although he was lucky enough to block the throwing knife, Vic had hundreds of ways to kill him. He was just a brute with no Devil Fruit and only brute strength.
Vic continued walking toward the doctor past Double Axe. Double Axe was overjoyed to see Vic's utter disregard for him. A ferocious smile appeared on his bearded face as he raised his axe and swung it down toward Vic's head. The axe squeezed the air and produced a suffocating whistling sound.
"Hey buddy! Watch out!"
Dalton's eyes widened in fury as he watched helplessly as the giant axe hurtled towards Vic's head. He couldn't possibly catch it at all; he couldn't understand why Vic would leave his back to the pirates—wasn't that just courting death?
Judging from his behavior just now, he didn't seem like a novice at all. How could he make such a mistake now? Dalton felt both nervous and puzzled.
Vic was fully aware of Double Axe's movements; his Observation Haki was no joke. He originally planned to take Wendy to the doctor first before dealing with Double Axe, but he didn't expect Double Axe to be such a genuine pirate, launching sneak attacks as if it were second nature.
Armament Haki Hardening
Vic's body was instantly enveloped in black, making him look like a demon god descending.
The blades of the Double Axe landed on Vic's head, but instead of the expected scene of Vic being split in two, the axes shattered and became pieces of scrap metal that splashed onto the surrounding snow.
