Uchiha Chiri's Sharingan swept through the crowd, the Tomoe spinning like millstones. "Drive these parasites into the ravine!" Behind her, the legion's soldiers charged, treading on the shattered jade, their Kunai cleaving through the gold and silver treasures held aloft by the nobles. "Hide them! Hide them in the cracks of the ground!"
The nobles of Land of Waterfalls were chased like stray dogs, their brocade robes torn, their jade crowns tumbling into the mud. The king stumbled and fell to a giant rock before the mountainside, his fingernails digging into the moss in the cracks as he roared, "You scum of the Black Tortoise Corps! You dare destroy my Land of Waterfalls!" He pulled a blood-stained bronze key from his robes and inserted it into the lock on the rock. " The Beast God seal left by our ancestors, today I will let it see the light of day again!"
The Onmyoji who had fled up the mountain were terrified, their legs trembling. The nobles held knives to their necks and pushed them before the boulder. An old Onmyoji with a white beard wailed, his incantation banner trembling. "Your Majesty! You mustn't! That Beast God is an ancient ferocious beast; releasing it will bring divine retribution!" The king kicked him in the lower back, and with a click, the boulder slowly slid away, revealing a dark cave behind it. "Divine retribution? I'll be punished by the heavens right now!"
The stench emanating from the cave was enough to knock one unconscious. The Onmyoji were forced to chant obscure incantations. As the last syllable fell, a deafening roar suddenly erupted from the bottom of the cave, shaking the entire mountain. When Uchiha Chiri led his team to the ravine, they saw a burst of golden light erupt from behind a boulder. The lord, laughing maniacally, opened his arms wide. "Come out! Lord Bi'an! Let these invaders taste your power!"
The first thing to emerge from the cave wasn't some mythical beast, but a tail thicker than a bucket, covered in jet-black scales, which Mars as it swept across the rock wall. Next came a massive, wrinkled face, with bloodshot eyes the size of copper bells, and the gusts of air from its nostrils sent the Onmyoji reeling. This monster had the head of a lion, the body of an ox, but a row of bone spikes along its back, and its claws dug directly into the rock when it stepped on the ground—it was none other than the ancient Beast God, Bi'an.
"Welcome, Lord Bi'an!" The king was still kowtowing when Bi'an tilted its head, seemingly sizing up these tiny creatures. Suddenly, it opened its mouth, revealing two rows of serrated fangs. Before anyone could react, its gaping maw had already enveloped the king and several nobles beside him. The crisp sound of bones shattering mingled with screams of agony. The white-bearded Onmyoji was so frightened that he wet his pants and turned to run, but Bi'an's tail lashed out, and he was stuffed into its mouth like a skewer of candied hawthorns.
"Burp—" The Beast God let out a burp, its breath carrying bits of meat. Seemingly disgusted by the smell of these people, it rubbed the rag around its mouth with its paw and slowly Earth Flow the cave. Sunlight shone on its scales, reflecting a metallic sheen. Those Black Tortoise Corps outposts who tried to attack it were easily swatted away by its paw, crashing into the mountainside and turning into a pile of minced meat.
"What... what kind of monster is this?!" A new recruit was so frightened he dropped his gun, watching helplessly as the Beast God slowly descended the mountain. It seemed uninterested in the soldiers, charging straight into the village at the foot of the mountain. Thatched huts were like paper before it; the villagers' cries were cut short as soon as they began. A woman holding a child tried to run, but the Beast God's tail gently hooked her, and she and her child were swallowed whole.
Half an hour later, the entire village fell silent. The Beast God licked the blood from its paws, its belly swollen like a small mountain. It yawned, turned around, and slowly walked up the mountain. When it passed a peach grove, it even nibbled on a peach tree as a dessert. The trunk was as crunchy as a biscuit in its mouth, and it swallowed it after a couple of chews.
When the urgent report from the Black Tortoise Corps reached Uchiha Chiri, her Sharingan nearly burst. "An entire squad gone?" The messenger's arm was bandaged, and his voice trembled uncontrollably. "Captain... that monster is impervious to blades and spears. Kunai break off when they hit its scales, and Ninjutsu is like a tickle to it. Its speed is ridiculously fast; we can't keep up with its movements at all!"
"Useless!" Uchiha Chiri kicked over a table. "Summon the elite troops, follow me into the mountains!" She personally led three hundred elite soldiers, each wielding a specially made armor- Kunai and carrying Explosive Tag on their backs. But when they caught up with the Beast God halfway up the mountain, they understood what despair meant— the Kunai only left white marks on its scales, Explosive Tag only made it stagger a couple of times, instead enraging the monster.
The Bi'an's counterattack was as fast as lightning. Without turning around, its tail suddenly swept across, instantly turning over a dozen elite soldiers into mincemeat; it leaped forward, its claws slicing through the crowd, beheading more than twenty others. Uchiha Chiri's Great Fireball Technique was unleashed, but it was swallowed whole without a burp. "Retreat! Retreat quickly!" she roared, her eyes red, but the Beast God had already set its sights on her. Its massive claws slammed down with a whooshing sound. She barely Susanoo, but was still sent flying, crashing into a tree and spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Of the three hundred elite soldiers, fewer than ten survived. Uchiha Chiri clutched her broken ribs, watching the Beast God slowly crawl back into its cave. In the Yin Shadow at the cave entrance, she could still see it licking its paws. "I refuse to believe I can't handle you!" she gritted her teeth, pulling out the last military tally from her robes. "Pass on my order: the entire Black Tortoise Corps, assemble! Ten thousand troops, flatten this mountain!"
Three days later, at dawn, ten thousand armored soldiers completely surrounded the mountain. Uchiha Chiri's Susanoo held a giant sword, followed by a dense array of archers and Ninjutsu troops. "Fire!" With her command, a rain of arrows, carrying sparks from Explosive Tag, shot towards the cave. The Ninjutsu troops simultaneously activated their Earth Release, Water Release, and Fire Style, engulfing the entire mountain in smoke.
But when the smoke cleared, everyone gasped – the Beast God Bi'an stood at the cave entrance, its scales unmarked. Seemingly annoyed by the noise, it roared, causing many soldiers to cough up blood on the spot. It charged into the crowd like a black lightning bolt, its claws lashing out in a chorus of howls, its tail sweeping away a row of corpses. When Susanoo's giant sword struck its back, the impact, deflected by its scales, actually made Uchiha Chiri's arm go numb.
"Use Sealing Jutsu!" The support ninjas sent by Tian Yueqing threw out talismans, but the runes shattered as soon as they touched the Beast God. It suddenly turned around and bit Susanoo's arm, snapping it off with a snap. Blood spurted from Uchiha Chiri splattered on her mask, and the Tomoe in her Sharingan spun wildly. "Even if I die, I'll drag you down with me!" She controlled the tattered Susanoo pounce, trying to embrace the Beast God and perish together.
Bi'an merely tilted its head, and with a gentle scratch of its paw, Susanoo shattered like glass. It lowered its head and bit through Uchiha Chiri's armor; the scream echoed through the valley for a moment before disappearing completely.
As the sun set, a mountain of corpses had piled up at the foot of the mountain. The Beast God Bi'an licked the blood off its claws and slowly crawled back to its cave, the Yin Shadow of the cave entrance completely enveloping its massive body. From then on, no one dared to approach the mountain again—it seemed quite content with this life, going down the mountain Tensei to find food, eating its fill, and then returning to its cave to sleep. As long as no one bothered it, it was too lazy to move.
This mountainous region of the Land of Waterfalls has become a forbidden area that even ninjas dare not set foot in. Only the occasional roars coming from the mountains remind people that a Beast God who is not to be trifled with lives here.
