Princess and fiancée

Tian Yueqing is introduced as a thirteen-year-old princess of the Land of Whirlpools living with Tsubasa and his other young fiancées. She joins their evenings of songs and stories and accompanies him to the Senju Clan Compound to study Sealing Jutsu 70 75.

Under Mito Uzumaki’s instruction, she trains with the hope of eventually helping Tsubasa. Although she supports his intensive studies, she worries about him living alone in Shikkotsu Forest. Her request to accompany him is initially refused because the forest’s pressure would be fatal without a Perfect Sage Body 74.

During a visit to the Land of Whirlpools, she asks Tsubasa to float river lanterns with her in remembrance of clansmen killed in battle 116.

Sealing research and motherhood

Yueqing studies alongside Tsubasa during his research into sealing, cellular aging, and soul reincarnation. When he first proposes making her the mother in an experimental reincarnation, she reminds him that he is still a minor 118.

She later helps carry out the Katsuyu Sage’s reincarnation. Aware that failure could scatter both the practitioner’s and the mother’s souls, she questions the technique’s danger. Tsubasa selects her for her sealing expertise and the exceptional vitality of her Uzumaki bloodline, then guides Katsuyu’s soul into a new life formed from their bloodlines 182.

Yueqing gives birth to Tian Yu amid an unusual purple light. Three days later, the infant startles her by communicating directly through spiritual power 190.

Personality

Yueqing is gentle, steady, and considerate, but her concern for others consistently drives her to become stronger. She supports Tsubasa’s need to study despite missing him, and pursues Sealing Jutsu specifically so that she can help him rather than merely wait for his return 70 74.

Her attachment to her family can become a source of intense distress. During Tsubasa’s disappearance, she repeatedly hallucinates his presence, yet continues teaching disciples and cultivating in the belief that she can find him and bring him home 259.

Her softness does not prevent decisive action. She enters the hostile nobles’ council alone to negotiate an end to their hostage crisis, and refuses to leave the battlefield while the Ten Family’s children remain in danger 277 406. After being resurrected during the Ōtsutsuki war, her usual composure temporarily gives way to rage over her death and the slaughter of her comrades 455.
