Background

Qing Lin was born in Stone Desert City after a mercenary team was attacked by Snake People. As a child of human and Snake Person blood, she was regarded with suspicion and endured discrimination from an early age. Orphaned and unable to perform heavy labor, she survived by running errands, serving tea, and washing clothes for mercenary groups; her earnings barely kept her fed. 28

Chen Xiao found her living alone in a shabby house, washing clothes beside two stale buns. When he offered her work in Desert City, her only concern was whether she would be able to eat her fill. She accepted immediately. 28

After leaving Stone Desert City, Qing Lin initially feared that Chen Xiao would despise the fine green, snake-scale-like patches on her arms. His unchanged treatment of her became the foundation of her trust and growing confidence. 29

Chen Xiao taught Qing Lin to draw in Qi and placed her on the path of cultivation. Her Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils later awakened in the Tagor Desert, where she subdued the Two-Headed Fire Spirit Snake and proved the exceptional potential of her bloodline. 32 41 202

Chen Xiao's acceptance gradually made her more secure and self-assured. Though she remained gentle and reserved, she became capable of voicing important decisions, such as refusing to accompany him to Jia Nan Academy in favor of better training. 52 53

She is intensely loyal to Chen Xiao and regards being taken from Stone Desert City as the turning point of her life. Despite her past, she does not consider herself pitiable, instead calling herself the luckiest person in the world. 45 179
