Background

Hai Bo Dong was the foremost Ice Attribute cultivator produced by the Jia Ma Empire and bore the title of Ice Emperor. Before his sealing, he was a renowned Dou Emperor and had never passed the Ice Emperor Scripture to the Mite'er Family's Ice Attribute juniors, believing the inheritance should not be given to mediocrity. 25 42

While pursuing the Fragment Map connected to the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame, he encountered Medusa Queen in the Tagor Desert. Their conflict left him afflicted by her Serpent Sealing Curse, which steadily weakened his cultivation. He withdrew to Mo City, concealed his identity, and operated a map store while studying the fragment without success. 25 26 38 347

Chen Xiao identified him as the Ice Emperor and offered to negotiate the removal of his seal. Though initially suspicious, Hai Bo Dong became interested in Chen Xiao's Ice Attribute, talent, and apparent familiarity with the Ice Emperor Scripture. He attempted to recruit Chen Xiao as a disciple, but Chen Xiao refused and instead made a wager tied to lifting the curse. 25 26

Medusa Queen ultimately removed the curse after Chen Xiao traded information on the Green Lotus Core Flame. Restored to much of his former strength, Hai Bo Dong repaid Chen Xiao by granting him the complete Ice Emperor Scripture inheritance, including his signature techniques. 36 37

Appearance

Following years under the curse, Hai Bo Dong is an aged man with white hair and a weathered face. Once unsealed, his appearance visibly rejuvenates and his bearing returns to that of the Ice Emperor. 37
