The sword’s documented development consists of restoration, flame enhancements, and new powers channeled through its blade rather than named weapon ranks.

Appearance

• Initial form: A longsword formed entirely from six-colored flames, with runes sharing an origin with those on the Burning Heaven Cauldron 59.
• Restored form: A greatsword roughly three zhang long. Runes carrying the Flame God’s will flow along its blade, and a burning crystal—the embryonic form of the Heart of the Flame Realm—is set at its tip 62.
• Changing radiance: Its attacks can produce chaos-colored flame arcs, pure golden purification light, gray-gold sword light, and violet-gold power of existence 60 74 83 105.
• Sheath: Xiao Yan carries it in a cloth sheath; it is also described hanging at his waist 65 75.

History

The Flame God’s Weapon

The Heaven Burning Sword was once the Flame God’s personal weapon. According to Yun He, its reputation on the Battlefield of the Heavens was enough to terrify the Outer Realm Demons 62 65.

The Flame God explained that obtaining the Heart-Clearing Jade required a three-day battle against the Time Behemoth. Although he succeeded, his injuries allowed unnamed enemies to attack him and shatter the sword 63.

Inheritance and Restoration

After Xiao Yan passed the six flame trials in the Flame God’s temple, he received the sword alongside the Flame God’s Realm Lord insights. Elder Qin recognized the weapon as proof that Xiao Yan had inherited the Flame God’s legacy 59 60.

Within the Law Secret Realm, the sword guided Xiao Yan to its missing half. The fragment was guarded by flame-law beasts led by the Heaven Burning Battle Lion. Resonance between the two halves formed the character “Flame,” convincing the guardians to recognize Xiao Yan as the inheritor 62.

The reunited weapon revealed the Heaven Burning Domain’s secret, but also exposed Xiao Yan to a destructive impulse. He subsequently passed the Rift of Time’s trials of obsession, confusion, and fear, obtaining the Heart-Clearing Jade needed to stabilize it 62 63.

• Suppression: Makes the Black Fiend Realm Lord’s body feel too heavy to evade Xiao Yan’s attack 64.
• Stated potential: The Flame God’s tablet describes it as capable of burning away the laws of the heavens, leaving the path of flame supreme 62.
• Restriction: Requires the complete sword. Its tyrannical power can provoke inner demons and backlash without the Heart-Clearing Jade 62 63.
