"Boom!"
"Aah!!"
The explosion shattered the auditorium windows, and shards of glass scattered throughout the interior on the blast wave, drawing startled screams from the students sitting toward the back.
Several more explosions followed, and quite a few students began leaving their seats, conspicuous red, white, and blue bracelet-style CADs showing on their right wrists.
"Hm!"
Tatsuya Shiba instantly recognized the matching CADs as the same model worn by Hajime Tsukasa, who had attacked him.
"Chairwoman!"
"Catch them!"
Hearing Tatsuya Shiba's warning, Mari Watanabe immediately activated her communicator. "Catch them!"
The Public Morals Committee members sprang into action, apprehending the offenders, and Chiba Yeyou pinned one down as well.
Then came the sound of a window breaking high up in the auditorium, followed by something being thrown through the opening.
"Clink-clatter!"
"It's tear gas!"
Chiba Yeyou hurriedly warned them. After all, the thing was far too close to them.
"Be careful not to breathe in the smoke!"
Hattori Gyoubu also shouted a warning.
He then used magic to gather the gas, draw it back into its container, and throw it out through the opening it had come through.
Chiba Yeyou silently judged that his gas-convergence and movement magic were quite good.
Then Chiba Yeyou saw Tatsuya Shiba look at Hattori Gyoubu, only for Hattori Gyoubu to give a haughty snort and turn his head away.
"Pfft!"
"Those two!"
Chiba Yeyou really could not hold it in.
"Stay still!"
Seeing Chiba Yeyou distracted, the man he had pinned down tried to resist, only to be pressed straight down onto the floor.
"Clack!"
The auditorium doors suddenly opened, and several masked figures in protective suits and gas masks rushed in with guns. They were taken aback by the situation inside. This was not what they had planned!
Clearly, they had yet to understand what was happening, but they had no chance to think about it either. A green light flashed, and the masked figures collapsed to the floor, clutching their necks.
MIB Field filled the enclosed spaces inside their gas masks with nitrogen, dropping them straight to the floor.
Judging by the outstretched palm, Mari Watanabe had clearly acted.
"Intruders?"
"You have them over there too?"
Mari Watanabe looked thoroughly surprised by the report over her communicator.
A louder explosion came from outside. From the sound, it was clearly coming from the practical skills building. Evidently, the enemy had sent in quite a few intruders.
"Chairwoman, I'll go check what happened at the practical skills building where the explosion went off!"
"I'll go with my elder brother!"
The Shiba siblings immediately stepped forward to make their request to Mari Watanabe.
"Please be careful!"
"Yes!"
The siblings then headed toward the practical skills building.
"Junior, sorry for the trouble, but could you go help too? I'm afraid the situation isn't looking good."
Mayumi Saegusa walked over, bowed slightly to Chiba Yeyou, and made her request.
"The Shiba siblings will be enough over there, but I'll help Mari and the others clear out the combatants scattered around campus."
Chiba Yeyou reassured Mayumi Saegusa.
"Can they really handle it?"
Mayumi Saegusa felt this was somewhat uncertain. After all, Chiba Yeyou was the only one whose strength she knew anything about.
"Don't worry."
Chiba Yeyou reached out and patted Mayumi Saegusa's head to reassure her, then left the auditorium as she said, "Please be careful."
He had barely gone any distance outside when an armed man aimed his gun at him. Chiba Yeyou could not be bothered to waste words. He simply drew his CAD, and a deathly white beam shot out. Fierce flames erupted over the armed man, burning him to nothing in mere seconds. Only a faint scent of cooked flesh lingering in the air proved he had ever existed.
"Aah!"
The Public Morals Committee member who had come to provide support was scared senseless by the sight, repeatedly crying out in terror as he stared at Chiba Yeyou as though looking at a devil. His cries drew more people, both Public Morals Committee members and armed men.
"This many?"
Chiba Yeyou had not expected so many armed men either.
Quantum Magic: "Situational Awareness."
As the magic activated, the flow patterns of quantum states gave Chiba Yeyou sufficient feedback.
"One behind the trash can on the left, one behind the tree on the right, two around the corner of the school building behind me, and one behind each of three doors on the second floor of the school building diagonally behind me. One of them has a rocket launcher."
"Well then..."
Chiba Yeyou raised the CAD in his hand and pulled the trigger. A deathly white beam shot into the sky and quickly split apart. Five attacks streaked toward targets at five different locations in different directions, striking those five people as they stared in disbelief and terror.
Five burning figures appeared in various directions before the approaching Public Morals Committee members. They instinctively stopped in their tracks, staring blankly at the savage fellow before them.
"Gulp... Chiba Yeyou..."
Leonhard Saijo happened to be among those who had arrived. Although he was not a member of the Public Morals Committee, he would certainly help when the school was under attack. Instead, he had witnessed such a wild scene. Wisps of the scent of cooked flesh still drifted through the air, but he had no appetite whatsoever. In fact, he felt somewhat sick.
"Hm?"
"What's wrong?"
Chiba Yeyou knew these people would surely be unable to adjust, so he offered what he considered a friendly smile, intending to dispel their fear.
"N-nothing!"
"I'm going to help somewhere else."
"Bye!"
Leonhart hastily shook his head and ran off.
Seriously, did someone who could casually roast people like barbecue ingredients need help from a weakling like him?
"Hmm..."
"Looks like that failed..."
Chiba Yeyou gave an awkward smile.
Indeed, his smile looked rather terrifying to everyone else.
"Mari, please notify the others. Leave the eastern side to me and have them clear the other areas. Let's eliminate these people as soon as possible and quickly put an end to the chaos."
Chiba Yeyou took out his communicator and spoke to Mari Watanabe.
"All right. Be careful too."
Mari Watanabe responded immediately.
Putting away his communicator, Chiba Yeyou immediately cleared the eastern area, leaving one person alive.
"How about we make a deal? Would you take me to your hideout to meet your boss?"
Chiba Yeyou asked the man before him with what he considered a gentle smile.
"Y-you..."
Even his voice kept trembling. He had personally seen the man protecting him, a magician, suddenly burst into flames less than ten meters away. He still could not forget those agonized screams from within the flames, and his body was still shaking. A foul smell drifted up from beneath him.
"Looks like you've agreed!"
Chiba Yeyou then rushed out of the school with this magician from among the armed men.
