Gaba fell back onto the snow. Was it a hallucination before he died? How did he see Song Shi'an?
Xie Hanzheng leaned against the tree trunk, his eyelids so heavy he could barely lift them, and the face in his vision grew increasingly blurry.
Was he the only one she fantasized about before she died? Shouldn't she have taken a quick look back at her life and family? Why was she different from others...?
Seeing the coach staring blankly at him, Song Shi'an waved his hand in front of him. "Coach! Can you hear me?! No way, has the coach frozen stiff?"
He crouched down and patted Xie Hanzheng's face with his thickly gloved hand. He didn't control the force well, and the pat made a crisp, loud sound.
Xie Hanzheng was jolted back to reality by the slap, and grabbed Song Shi'an's arm. "You really are Song Shi'an!"
Song Shi'an frowned. "I'm not anyone's... Let's hurry up and leave, this guy next to us looks like he's about to die."
Xie Hanzheng didn't have time to think about how his student had parachuted directly from the intermediate level to the depths of the wilderness, "My leg is injured, I can't go down. You take him first, then find someone to pick me up."
Song Shi'an glanced at the unconscious wounded man on the stretcher next to him, then at Xie Hanzheng's leg that he couldn't lift. "Stop talking nonsense, Coach. You sit on my board, hold onto my leg, and pull on that guy's stretcher. I'll slide down from the side where there are fewer trees."
Xie Hanzheng gritted his teeth; this was the only way now. He secured the wounded man to the stretcher, found a good position on Song Shi'an's plank, and pulled on the stretcher lever.
Song Shi'an had never led anyone before, let alone dragged a stretcher, and his legs were trembling with fear.
He took a few deep breaths to calm himself down. "Then I'll go down. It's not far from the bottom of the mountain."
And so it slowly and leisurely slid down.
Xie Hanzheng kept a close eye on everything below, watching every inch of the terrain, fearing that Song Shi'an might fall and cause a fatal accident involving the unborn child.
After a slow, half-hour descent, we finally saw lights at the foot of the mountain; the red and blue lights of the rescue vehicle flashed in the night.
Song Shi'an breathed a long sigh of relief, his legs so weak he almost couldn't stand.
The rescuers were stunned for several seconds when they saw this scene: one person dragging two people down from the depths of the wilderness.
They immediately called a helicopter, and stretchers and first-aid kits were brought over at the same time.
The moment Xie Hanzheng saw the rescue team rushing towards him, his tense nerves finally relaxed, and he fainted.
A helicopter arrived quickly and took the two of them onto the plane. While the rescue workers were busy, Song Shi'an quietly slipped away.
By the time the security personnel tried to find the person again, the cable car had already swayed and climbed halfway up the mountain.
Unexpectedly, when they returned to the ski resort, they didn't see Lin Fan. The cell phone signal was restored, and there were no missed calls from Lin Fan.
That's strange. Logically, if Lin Fan came back from shopping and found him missing, his phone should have been ringing off the hook.
As soon as we arrived, we heard security guards using a loudspeaker to announce to the onlookers, "The person has been rescued, everyone can disperse!"
Someone excitedly waved their phone. "It has to be Xie Hanzheng! The world champion title is no joke!"
"I thought they weren't going to make it up. My God, wow, how are they now?"
"I heard there was another person; the rescue team couldn't get in, so someone slid in and pulled them out."
"Who is it? Even the jungle pros don't dare go down there, who's got the guts?"
Only Qi Muyang watched the whole thing. He looked down at the footage recorded by the drone. The other person was wearing ski goggles, so his face wasn't visible in the footage, yet he still managed to get both of them out of there successfully. You have to admire that.
He hesitated for a moment and decided to hold off on releasing the video until he figured out who the person was.
After Song Shi'an came up, he made a call to Lin Fan, who answered immediately, "Brother, I'll be there in a bit! There were too many people earlier, and the durian cakes I bought won't be ready for a while."
Thankfully, he rushed back so urgently, afraid that Lin Fan would be worried. Song Shi'an leaned against the railing and said, "It's alright, it's alright. Buy some for yourself, it's on me!"
The sizzling sound of the oven came from Lin Fan's side, "Thanks, bro! I'll be there in a bit!"
Song Shi'an shook his head helplessly, tucked the snowboard under his arm, and turned to walk towards the supermarket.
Qi Muyang was packing up the drone when he glanced at it casually and exclaimed, "Holy crap, this guy's amazing!"
At first, I thought I had mistaken him for someone else, until the person turned around. The turtle-shaped cushion behind his waist was mostly deflated, and there was a cut on the side made by a wire, with a small piece of cotton sticking out.
There's no doubt about it; the expert actually likes this kind of style.
After meeting up with Lin Fan, Lin Fan handed him the durian cake and looked his brother up and down. "Brother, where have you been? Why is the turtle deflated? Where's the cotton?"
Song Shi'an changed the subject without changing his expression. " Lin Fan, I'm starving! Where are the cakes?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Fan quickly handed over the bag he was holding.
The two got into the car and returned to the hotel. Lin Fan scrolled through the news on his phone. The photos on the screen showed a helicopter carrying an injured person onto a stretcher. "Brother, the injured person has been rescued. He was seriously injured, but his life has been saved. There are reporters all over the hospital outside, all wanting to interview Coach Xie."
Song Shi'an took a bite of his pancake, leaned over to watch the video, and saw a huge crowd of people at the hospital entrance, with cameras and microphones pointed at the closed emergency room doors. He wondered if the person had woken up yet.
Lying in a hospital bed, Xie Hanzheng, with an IV drip in his mouth, slowly opened his eyes and only realized he was in the hospital when he smelled the disinfectant.
The doctor stood by the bed, flipped through the medical records, asked a few questions as usual, and then examined the brace on his leg. "I've already spoken with your assistant about your previous condition. Rest well; to reach your peak performance, you'll need at least six months of rest."
Xie Hanzheng hummed in agreement. "Thank you, doctor."
The doctor had just left when the ward door opened, and Cheng Yao walked in, her high heels clicking. Her phone screen was still lit up, displaying the latest trending news.
She tossed her bag onto a chair, crossed her arms, and stood by the bed. "Trying to end your career, huh? Playing around like this!! I only let you go out for a stroll because I thought you were getting bored while recovering from your injury, and what do you do!"
Xie Hanzheng propped himself up and sat up, pulling at the brace on his leg without even frowning. "An agent just needs to do their job. What I do is my own business."
Cheng Yao was almost laughing in exasperation. This young master had quite a temper, huh? She, as his agent, couldn't control him. "Indeed, I can't control you. I'm just an employee too. President Xie told you to go back and help him as soon as your leg is fully healed. The next World Championships aren't until two years from now."
Xie Hanzheng turned his head away. "I'm not going!"
Cheng Yao sighed helplessly, "Then you'll have to figure out how to talk to President Xie yourself. Take good care of your injury. I'm leaving now. Don't leave the hospital unnecessarily; there are reporters everywhere. But it's still good news; it's free publicity for the company's products."
