Pei Yubai visited Meng Xu and got jealous of Chenchen. A visit to a fan's shop. (Two chapters in one)
Qiguan Yuan leaned against Pei Yubai, his breathing gradually calming down.
He fell asleep just like that, because he was so exhausted.
Pei Yubai looked down at him for a while, then wrapped his arm around Qiguan Yuan's waist to make him lean more securely.
Qiguan Yuan's body temperature was slightly lower than his; nestled in his arms, she felt like a cool piece of jade, and he could feel his heartbeat through her clothes.
If he could, Pei Yubai wished time could stand still at this moment.
I watched it for who knows how long.
Pei Yubai gently laid Qiguan Yuan down and let him lie on the blanket that had been laid out.
One hand supported the back of his neck, the other hand protected his waist, and the lowering motion was almost silent.
Qiguan Yuan turned his head slightly, fast asleep, undisturbed.
Pei Yubai covered Qiguan Yuan with a light blanket, then got up and quietly unzipped the tent.
It was completely quiet outside.
The tents near the staff were dark, with only a few small lights shining at the edge of the camp, barely illuminating the camp's outline.
Pei Yubai fetched half a basin of warm water that Meng Xu had arranged for someone to prepare long ago.
He soaked a tissue, wrung it out until it was half-dry, and took it back into the tent.
Pei Yubai knelt down next to Qiguan Yuan and wiped his face with a tissue.
After wiping his face, he changed to a different tissue.
She lifted Qiguan Yuan's inner garment a little higher and used it to wipe his neck and collarbone.
Qiguan Yuan usually wore very simple clothes: a plain-colored inner garment without any accessories or buttons, tied at the waist with just a belt.
It's comfortable, but it wrinkles easily.
The inner garment was already somewhat wrinkled, and the neckline was askew, revealing a large expanse of her shoulder.
Pei Yubai wiped his body clean.
To ensure Qiguan Yuan can sleep more comfortably.
After wiping him down, he took out a clean undershirt from the suitcase and put it on him.
The old blanket was folded and placed aside, and then the blanket was pulled up to cover him.
After doing all that, Pei Yubai went to wash up.
When I returned, the small lamp in the tent was almost out of power, and the light was dimmer than before.
He turned off the light, lifted a corner of the blanket and lay down, reaching out to pull Qiguan Yuan into his arms.
Qiguan Yuan turned over in his sleep, buried his face in his chest, placed one hand on his waist, and breathed evenly on his collarbone.
The tail that hadn't been retracted also wrapped around Pei Yubai's waist.
Fortunately, Qiguan Yuan's body temperature was not high, so you couldn't feel hot or cold around him.
Pei Yubai placed his hand on his waist and closed his eyes.
Pei Yubai woke up early the next day.
It wasn't fully light yet; the light outside the tent was a weak, grayish-blue, filtering through the edges of the tarpaulin.
Qiguan Yuan was still asleep in his arms.
Pei Yubai gently moved his head onto the pillow, pulled his arm out from under him, sat up, dressed, and left the tent.
The campsite was quiet; no one else was up yet.
There were several strings of bird footprints on the sand, thin and stretching from one end of the camp to the other.
Pei Yubai walked to the outside of Meng Xu's tent and heard voices coming from inside.
Meng Xu's voice, and a child's voice, came through the tent flap in a muffled manner.
Meng Xu.
The talking inside paused for a moment, then Meng Xu replied, "Come in."
Pei Yubai unzipped his jacket and bent down to go inside.
Meng Xu was sitting cross-legged on his sleeping bag, his hair a mess like a bird's nest, his eyes not fully open, holding a phone in his hand, the screen lit up, showing a child's face.
Meng Xu was wearing a wrinkled gray T-shirt with the collar askew to one side.
A pile of things lay in front of him: a power bank, a data cable, a half-empty bottle of mineral water, and an opened bag of cookies.
"Come see your godfather." Meng Xu turned his phone screen towards Pei Yubai.
On the screen, Chenchen is wearing a yellow duck outfit and sitting in a high chair.
The clothes have a fluffy little duck printed on them, and the hat has a duck's beak on it.
In front of him was a small blue bowl filled with porridge, along with a side dish of vegetables and half a peeled egg.
An older woman was standing at the table, holding a spoon and waiting for him to continue eating.
"Godfather." Chenchen blinked his big eyes and obediently called out to the screen.
Her voice was soft and sweet.
Pei Yubai nodded. "Okay, eat well. I'll send you an airplane another day."
Meng Xu clicked his tongue, scratched his messy hair, and curled his lip. "So stingy? Your Yuanyuan picked him up herself, how can you be such a godfather? You just give him an airplane?"
Chenchen smiled broadly on the other side of the screen, his little yellow duck hat slipping down his head to reveal a bald head that hadn't grown any hair yet. "Thank you, godfather."
His treatment has just ended, and it will take some time for his hair to grow back.
Meng Xu tilted the phone towards himself and said to Chenchen on the screen, " Chenbao, don't be so pathetic. You already have an airplane, so have your godfather give you a three-piece set, covering land, sea, and air. A cruise ship, and a car that boys like, all of that. Rip him off big time."
Chenchen tilted his head and thought for a moment, then shook the spoon in his hand and shook his head. "Godfather, can Chenchen get a different one?"
Pei Yubai asked, "What do you want?"
Chenchen placed the spoon on the edge of the bowl, braced his hands on the table, and leaned closer to the screen.
The little yellow duck hat had completely fallen off its back, leaving only two straps hanging around its neck.
" Chenchen wants to see Yuanyuan, okay?"
Pei Yubai blankly at the screen, his voice as flat as a straight line. "Not good."
He paused, his tone equally even, stating an undeniable fact. " Yuanyuan is mine. When you grow up, find yourself a wife. Don't covet other people's wives; that's a bad habit."
Chenchen blinked.
The four-year-old's little brain obviously couldn't quite grasp the concept of "wife," nor did it know what "thinking about someone else's wife" meant.
He looked down at the porridge in his bowl, then looked up at Pei Yubai's face on the screen. His lips twitched; he was a little unhappy.
But Yuanyuan is her godfather's wife, not his.
Finally, as if he had figured something out, he looked up at the screen again. "Alright then, Chenchen, you should still tell me about the land, sea, and air that Daddy talked about."
Pei Yubai nodded, as if he had closed a very satisfactory deal. "The car will be delivered in a couple of days. Your father can take you to see the plane and the cruise ship when he has time."
Meng Xu rolled his eyes and took the phone back.
He chatted with Chenchen for a few more minutes.
Finally Chenchen kissed Meng Xu's cheek on the screen, said "Bye-bye, Xu Xu's dad," and hung up the phone.
Meng Xu put down his phone, rubbed his cheek where Chenchen had kissed him, and looked up at Pei Yubai: "Why aren't you guarding your Yuanyuan? What are you doing here? You're even jealous of a four-year-old? Pei Yubai, you're hopeless."
Pei Yubai stood in the middle of the tent, his expression unchanged. "You don't even have a wife, what do you know?"
Meng Xu's lips twitched, and he took a deep breath.
He closed his eyes, then opened them again, and said in an extremely indignant tone, "If you're here to show off, then get out of here right now, in a very polite manner."
Pei Yubai showed no intention of leaving; in fact, he sat down on the folding chair opposite him. "What are the filming plans for today?"
Upon hearing this, Meng Xu's expression instantly fell.
He slumped back onto his sleeping bag, staring blankly at the tent ceiling, his voice utterly lifeless. "I don't know. You know, I just photograph whatever comes to mind."
He rolled over and lay on his side, propping his head up with one hand.
Her hair had gone from a chicken coop to an even messier one, with a tuft of hair sticking up on top.
"No, let the guests play house and build houses out of sand."
His eyes suddenly lit up, and he pointed to his phone. "This is an idea my Chenbao gave me these past two days while building houses with blocks. Whoever builds the tallest wins, how about it?"
Pei Yubai didn't respond to that, " Yuanyuan today to help with fittings."
Meng Xu regained some of his senses.
He sat up, scratched his hair, and the tuft of hair bounced back up after being pressed down.
He looked at Pei Yubai, waiting for him to continue.
Pei Yubai recounted the events of the night he arrived in Dunhuang.
Meng Xu was stunned for two seconds after hearing this.
Then he sat up straight and asked, "When are you going?"
Pei Yubai thought for a moment, "Later, Yuanyuan wakes up, we'll go over. It'll probably be around noon."
Meng Xu nodded, rubbing his chin with his fingers.
His mind works very fast; within seconds, he had arranged a new shooting schedule.
"Let's not play house anymore." He slapped his knee, stood up from his sleeping bag, and bent down to find his shoes. "I'll take the other guests over there and get them dressed up too. That's the night market area, right? It's full of shops selling unique clothing. Perfect, I'll get each of them a set and assign them tasks."
After discussing the matter, Pei Yubai got up and left Meng Xu's tent.
People have already started moving around in the camp.
A staff member was squatting by the campsite brushing his teeth, the foam dripping onto the sand and creating several small craters.
Upon seeing him, she greeted him, " Film Emperor Pei."
Pei Yubai nodded in response, "Morning."
Then he went back to his own tent.
Qiguan Yuan was still fast asleep.
Pei Yubai didn't bother him.
I sat down next to the sleeping bag, took out my phone, and waited quietly.
About an hour later, Qiguan Yuan woke up.
He rolled over, the collar of his undershirt slipping open even wider. He opened his eyes and saw Pei Yubai, his voice still hoarse from just waking up. "... What time is it?"
No rush, it's still early.
Qiguan Yuan sat up, his silver hair disheveled and scattered over his shoulders.
He looked down at his clean undergarments, then at the old clothes neatly folded in the corner, knowing that Pei Yubai had changed them for him last night.
He leaned over and kissed Pei Yubai on the corner of his mouth.
After the two finished packing, they left the tent.
Pei Yubai greeted Meng Xu, then led Qiguan Yuan towards the camp's parking area.
The car was already waiting; it was the production crew's car, and the driver was slumped over the steering wheel, playing on his phone.
The car drove out of the camp and headed towards Dunhuang city along the highway.
On both sides of the road were endless sand dunes, bleached white by the sun. Qiguan Yuan leaned against the car window and looked at the sand outside, occasionally seeing one or two withered poplars flashing past.
After entering the city, shops began to appear on both sides of the street.
The car turned into the night market area; the night market was very quiet during the day.
The shop shutters on both sides were half open, and occasionally one or two pedestrians walked by.
There were still traces left from last night's night market on the ground: a few bamboo skewers and a flattened aluminum can.
Qiguan Yuan saw the clothing store from the car.
The shop door was open.
The girl stood at the doorway, her hand resting on the doorframe, gazing towards the street corner.
She wore a plain-colored long dress, her hair was pinned up at the back of her head with a wooden hairpin, and she wore a pair of cloth shoes.
Seeing the production crew's car parked on the side of the road, she lowered her hand from the door frame and stood up straight.
Qiguan Yuan and Pei Yubai got out of the car.
Her eyes lit up the moment she saw Pei Yubai.
Great, they didn't break their promise.
"Pei... Film Emperor Pei, Yuanyuan, you're here." Her voice was a little tense. She wiped her hand on her dress, then stepped aside to let them in. "Come in and sit down. Your clothes are all ready."
The shop is small, with samples of various fabrics hanging on the walls, ranging in color from bright red to navy blue, from off-white to jet black.
Several pieces of fabric that hadn't been cut yet were spread out on a large workbench, next to a sewing machine and an iron.
Two mannequins stood in the corner, wearing unfinished sample garments.
There was a faint smell of mothballs in the air, mixed with the scent of new fabric.
It doesn't smell bad.
She walked to the innermost clothes rack, where two sets of clothes were hanging, covered with dust covers.
She carefully removed the dust cover and handed it to Pei Yubai: "This is for Film Emperor Pei."
The first thing she took out was a set of men's clothing.
The color is dark, almost ink-black, with a dark red trim around the collar and cuffs. The fabric is thick and slightly rough to the touch.
The fabric of the outer robe had a subtle sheen under the light, a dark luster, like the color of sand illuminated by moonlight.
The belt buckle was made of silver and shaped like a camel bell, with a string of small camel bells hanging next to it that made a soft tinkling sound when shaken.
"This set is for Teacher Qiguan."
The second set she took out was red.
Qiguan Yuan paused for a moment when he saw the outfit.
This dress is really beautiful.
The top was crimson, close to the color of pomegranate flowers, a very true red.
The fabric was a combination of light gauze and silk, and the dress was trimmed with a thin gold border.
The bottom was wide-legged trousers, also in crimson, but made of a fabric that draped more beautifully than the top.
The trousers were tapered up slightly at the ankle, just above the ankle.
A thin, golden chain hung from her waist, with several small bells dangling down, matching the camel bells on Pei Yubai's belt.
The outer garment was a long shawl, made of gauze, as thin as a layer of mist.
The color transitions from crimson at the shoulders to golden-red at the ends.
The accessories were kept separately in a small box.
A pair of golden armlets, engraved with fine intertwined floral patterns, each with a small red bead set at its opening.
An anklet with a bell smaller than a little fingernail hanging from it.
There was also a headband, with a crimson background and a golden bead in the center. The embroidery on both sides of the bead was auspicious cloud patterns, made with very fine gold thread that shimmered in the light.
Qiguan Yuan picked up the headband and looked at it.
The embroidery is exquisite, with even stitches and smooth curves in the cloud pattern.
He put the headband back in the box and looked up at her.
"You did all of this by yourself?"
She nodded, then ran her hand over the dress again. "The design took almost half a month, and the production took a month and a half. This outfit is called ' Great Desert Moon '."
She glanced at Pei Yubai's set, then at Qiguan Yuan's, and said in a softer voice, " Teacher Pei's set is called ' Long Wind Night '."
"I hope you like it. Go change your clothes quickly, time is a little tight."
