He merely existed deep within a corpse's memories. He needed to explore the past, uncover the source of Ghost Lake, and understand all its secrets.
Within memories, Shen Lin was not absolutely safe.
Invading a ghost's memories was especially dangerous. He could be attacked by the ghost, and if he was killed, it meant his death. But death was not the end. He would awaken in another memory and invade reality once more. However, in that case, he would be separated from the Ghost Lake Incident.
Because if Shen Lin revived through a new memory, he could only exist at the time when that memory occurred.
In other words, if Shen Lin was killed in the memory now, then when he revived and invaded reality through a new memory, it would no longer be the present, but some point in the past. At the same time, he would lose all memories of the future.
This was a restart.
But not an Infinite Restart.
