Background / History

Yang Jian was an ordinary high-school senior before surviving the A-class Ghost Knocking incident at Dachang City Seventh Middle School. He became a ghost wielder during the event and helped save six classmates; only seven students survived the school-wide disaster. 484

After Zhou Zheng died during the high-school incident, Yang Jian reported the death to Headquarters. He was subsequently considered for the position of Dachang City's person in charge, while Headquarters promised support against Wang Xiaoqiang and Ye Feng after his appointment. 52 209

His early career was defined by unusually high-risk cases. He resolved the Starvation Ghost Incident through strategy and later became one of Headquarters' few wielders with experience surviving two S-class supernatural events. 283 534

Yang Jian repeatedly died, revived, and altered his own condition through the balance of multiple ghosts. By the time he became a Captain, his body and abilities had diverged sharply from those of an ordinary ghost wielder. 591 878

Appearance

Yang Jian is commonly recognized by his youthful face, the scarlet Ghost Eye on his forehead, and his cracked supernatural spear. His appearance is not fixed: he can use supernatural power to alter physical features, and he rebuilt his formerly cold, emaciated body into a stronger and taller form. 496 1579

  • A red, unnatural Ghost Eye on his forehead. 1579
  • A pale hand and altered arm that resist the bodily changes affecting the rest of him. 496
  • A cracked spear used as both a weapon and a supernatural medium. 942 1240
  • Can change appearances through supernatural means, making conventional beauty or ugliness largely meaningless to him. 1371

Personality

Yang Jian is intensely pragmatic. His first priority is survival, and he distrusts authority, social niceties, and promises that do not produce tangible protection. He is willing to negotiate, but he refuses to be controlled by Headquarters, factions, or stronger personalities. 473 503 1244

He is ruthless when threatened. Yang Jian uses intimidation, preemptive attacks, and overwhelming force against hostile ghost wielders, particularly those who endanger his city, his team, or people under his protection. 600 669 801

His emotional detachment grows alongside his supernatural erosion, though he remains aware of that loss. He values people who remind him of his humanity and gradually accepts broader responsibility for Dachang City and the supernatural world. 663 766 1550

Revival and Restart

Yang Jian's abnormal condition lets him survive states that would normally end a ghost wielder.

  • Can exist without his physical body as a ghost with living consciousness. 878
  • Can use the Ghost Shadow, Blood-Stained Old Newspaper, and Liar Ghost to implant living memories into corpses, indirectly restoring the dead. 878
  • Repeatedly uses restart during combat without immediately reaching his limit. 1517

Wishing and Certain-Death Attacks

Yang Jian can manipulate reality through wishes and weaponized supernatural rules.
