Run.
Run for your lives.
A Fei and a few of his friends ran forward as if their lives depended on it. Their faces were deathly pale, their eyes filled with terror, as if they had just witnessed something horrifying.
They had indeed encountered something terrifying.
They seemed to have run into a ghost.
They didn't know how long they ran, only stopping to bend over and gasp for breath when they were too exhausted to move.
Recalling the scene from earlier, A Fei felt his limbs trembling slightly.
"A-A Fei, what was that person just now?" one of his friends asked, a hint of fear in his voice.
A Fei cursed, "What else could it be? Most likely possessed. We'll have to go to a temple later to get a charm to ward off evil. Damn it, today's really bad luck. I knew we shouldn't have come to a deserted place. We finally found someone to extort some money from, and then we ran into that thing."
But before he could finish speaking, another companion beside him pointed ahead, trembling, "Y-you guys, what's that up ahead?"
The group of hooligans looked up, and their faces were instantly replaced with terror.
A public restroom.
It was the very place where they had encountered the supernatural earlier.
In front of the restroom stood a person, emitting a faint red glow, staring at them motionlessly.
This person was Yang Jian.
After running for so long, they had somehow circled back to where they started.
Seeing this, some of them were so scared they collapsed onto the ground, too terrified to even muster the strength to run.
"Run."
Although A Fei was exhausted, he feared Yang Jian, who stood in front of the restroom, even more. He turned and ran again.
In his panic, he didn't bother to think about why he had run so far only to end up back where he started. He had only one thought: to get away from this person, to get away from this restroom.
Meanwhile, Yang Jian frowned. "My ghost domain is a bit different from that old man's. That old man could make everyone in the entire teaching building lose their way, even affecting the walls and buildings. But I can only confuse people?"
"No, if the ghost domain is the same, then I must not have mastered the method yet."
"Ghosts and humans are different."
Yang Jian took a step forward.
Suddenly, he vanished from his spot and reappeared, walking towards them from the direction A Fei had been running.
It was like a circle; he had simply moved from one end of the circle to the other.
"So that's how it is. Within the ghost domain, I can appear anywhere. That makes sense. This explains how that knocking old man could silently appear nearby after hearing the knock."
"Ah~!"
Seeing Yang Jian suddenly appear in front of him, A Fei stopped abruptly, startled, and scrambled away in all directions.
"If I can change my position, then can I affect surrounding objects?" Yang Jian's eyes flickered. He grabbed a terrified, limp hooligan and slammed him against the wall of the nearby restroom.
Under the red glow, everything seemed to be under his control.
The hooligan cried out in pain, feeling an intense agony.
The next moment, his head was shoved into a ventilation opening in front of the restroom door.
The opening was too small for a head to fit through, yet Yang Jian forced the hooligan's head into it, passing through the wall, his neck perfectly stuck in the vent.
"So that's how it is."
Yang Jian gradually understood some of the secrets of the ghost domain.
Here, distance would distort, objects would change, and the surrounding scenery would shift. Everything was both false and true, and it could isolate everything from the outside world.
Within the ghost domain was a world that revolved around the vengeful ghost.
It appeared because of the ghost, and it changed because of the ghost.
Yang Jian experimented with the various uses of the ghost domain, using these petty hooligans as test subjects, gradually understanding what the power of this vengeful ghost represented.
Unsolvable.
Yes, unsolvable.
To humans, this power that arbitrarily twisted reality was indeed unsolvable. No wonder even bombs couldn't destroy the ghost domain.
Because within the ghost domain, it was no longer the reality you knew.
Bombs could destroy everything in reality, so how could they destroy something that existed between the real and the unreal within the ghost domain?
"If I shrink the ghost domain to only encompass myself, then I would become like something between real and unreal," Yang Jian retracted the power of the ghost domain.
The surrounding red light rapidly dissipated.
The streetlights returned to normal, neon lights lit up on distant high-rise buildings, and the sound of car horns could be heard again.
However, a faint red glow still emanated from Yang Jian's body.
He took a step forward.
His body naturally passed through a wall and entered an adjacent residential building.
He saw a couple in a room with the lights on, engaged in some steamy activities.
Yang Jian watched them, and they watched Yang Jian.
The couple, seeing an extra person suddenly appear in their room, glowing faintly red, their eyes widened in extreme fear.
"Sorry to disturb you, please continue." Yang Jian turned and left, disappearing back into the wall.
"Ah, a ghost~!" The couple's screams echoed in the room, even reaching outside.
A ghost?
Yang Jian looked at his current state.
He was indeed becoming more and more like a ghost, if not for still retaining his human consciousness.
A ghost wielder, truly a being neither human nor ghost.
Yang Jian felt a restlessness stirring within him again. The red paper covered one of his ghost eyes, but using the vengeful ghost's power for extended periods was still a great burden. He felt the eye within his body becoming agitated once more.
"The ghost domain can only be maintained for five minutes. After five minutes, I'll reach my limit."
Yang Jian checked the time on his phone, noting it down.
He withdrew from the ghost domain state.
Today's attempt was indeed important.
He looked around.
That A Fei and the few thugs from before were either cowering behind trash cans, trembling in fear, or had already lost their minds from fright.
Their tolerance was so low, and they still wanted to extort money?
"Bro, you're trembling? We're friends, and friends help each other out when they're in trouble, right? I'm a bit short on cash right now, mind lending me some?" Yang Jian narrowed his eyes and patted his shoulder.
Extort money?
He himself was dirt poor, with only a little over two hundred yuan in his pocket. Now that he couldn't go home, he had to get some money.
"Here, take it, it's all yours. Don't look for me, don't look for me. I'll burn incense for you later. Find someone else." A Fei was on the verge of tears, his hands trembling as he pulled out everything from his pocket.
It was only about a hundred yuan.
"Consider it a loan, I'll pay you back next time." Yang Jian took his money and smiled.
"N-no need to pay it back, big brother, I'm giving it to you." A Fei said, trembling with his head down, not even daring to look at Yang Jian.
It was just over a hundred yuan, what was there to pay back?
All he hoped was that this ghost would leave him quickly.
As long as it didn't bother him again, he would agree to any request.
"Extort more money in the future, so it'll be easier for me to find you." Yang Jian stood up, his voice carrying a hint of eeriness.
"Waa, waa." A Fei burst into tears from fear.
I'm just a kid, why are you doing this to me?
He swore that he would never extort money again in his life. He would be a good person.
Tomorrow, he would help old ladies cross the street.
Yang Jian went around and "disciplined" the other thugs, borrowing a few hundred yuan from them as well.
He believed that after today's experience, they would completely give up the idea of extorting people. Who knew if the next person they tried to extort would be human or a ghost?
"I'm done playing around, business is more important." Yang Jian scanned the area.
When he saw the thug he had stuffed into the ventilation shaft struggling to pull his head out, he couldn't help but find it amusing.
I'll have someone knock down the wall tomorrow.
You still dared to threaten people with a knife.
You're lucky you didn't see a real ghost.
However, when Yang Jian returned home again, he found the door wide open.
The dim room was empty.
The red newspapers that had been torn to shreds on the floor were gone.
That ghost. It was gone.
"The ghost is gone?" Yang Jian's expression changed.
He had prepared himself for a fight with the ghost, but he had come back to an empty house.
Did the ghost fear him and run away?
Or was the ghost looking for its next target?
"I must find that ghost." Yang Jian thought with determination.
