The enormous mall was eerily quiet.
There was not a single sound, only Yang Jian's footsteps echoing as he walked.
It should have been dusk outside already. Sunlight streamed through the glass windows, bringing a little brightness to the dim mall.
But that light would not last long.
Once night fell.
With the mall lights turned off, this place would become pitch-black.
"Crackle... Left, on your left, there's someone standing there." Amid static, Jiang Yan's tense voice came through Yang Jian's satellite positioning phone.
A middle-aged man with a pale face and a rotten stench emanating from his body stood peacefully with his eyes closed at the left side of the corridor corner, motionless like a puppet.
Yang Jian strode over. Glancing left, his eyes shifted slightly. "I see him."
He turned sideways and walked forward, avoiding the middle-aged man directly.
The man did not move. Even when Yang Jian passed right in front of him, he remained the same.
"You're incredible. Your deduction was right. It really works—the ghost didn't attack you." In the monitoring room, Jiang Yan could not help saying excitedly when she saw this.
Yang Jian was not pleased. "No. I suspect these aren't the real ghosts. They're probably just being controlled by the ghost. The real ghost must be hiding somewhere, or on someone. Don't waste time. The surveillance footage in the monitoring room can be kept for fifteen days. I looked into this mall before—everything from the first incident to its closure for renovations happened within the last ten days or so."
"As long as you search carefully, you'll definitely find the source."
"Don't worry, I know what to do," Jiang Yan replied. She was gradually gaining confidence and no longer felt as terrified.
"Behind you. In the shop behind you, I saw someone."
