Night fell once again.
The peaceful, tranquil village was once again shrouded in darkness. Only a few scattered streetlights in the village still gave off a faint yellow glow, while some had not been lit at all due to lack of maintenance.
Yang Jian had not left the old house during this time.
He had remained in the room where the portrait was kept, watching for any movement, sitting as still as a wooden statue without making any unnecessary movements.
But unfortunately.
Other than the footsteps from earlier, Yang Jian had discovered nothing.
He guessed that the nightmare was still continuing. The ghost in the dream had left this place and would not return for the time being.
"Yang Jian, what are you doing? I've been looking for you for ages." Jiang Yan cautiously appeared outside the corridor at that moment, secretly peeking inside.
When she saw Yang Jian in the room, she immediately let out a sigh of relief.
"What do you need me for? If there's nothing important, go sleep. It's dark already." Yang Jian had heard her coming long ago, so he was not surprised.
Jiang Yan walked in and said, "I wanted to report what happened earlier. Guess how much money I lent out in that short while? Your relatives were all like lunatics. I almost got surrounded. Sure enough, being a good person isn't something you can do carelessly."
"Handle it yourself. I'm not interested in such trivial matters," Yang Jian said.
"Trivial? It was several million, okay?" Jiang Yan said. "That's enough to support me for the rest of my life."
"Where's my mom?" Yang Jian ignored her and asked instead.
Jiang Yan said, "She just went back to her room to sleep. She's on the first floor. Is something wrong?"
"Nothing. Just asking,"
