After making a circuit around the village, he found nothing unusual.

Everything was calm.

Yet that calm left Yang Jian feeling uneasy.

After all, the information showed that there really was a paranormal incident here. That company would never have used false information to lure Yang Jian and the people from Xiaoqiang Club here.

Simple deception served no purpose. It would only bring endless trouble upon themselves.

There must be something unusual here. Maybe I just haven't found it yet. It'd be better to find someone and ask, Yang Jian thought.

Without realizing it, he arrived at the back of the village.

An old man in his early sixties was tending his vegetable garden.

Yang Jian walked over and greeted him. "Sir, planting vegetables?"

The old man glanced back at him, then continued with his work.

"Sir, I'm a tourist from the city. I wanted to ask why this village seems so empty, and why there's a funeral being held at the entrance. Did something happen?" Yang Jian asked.

"Get lost!"

The old man answered with a very unfriendly attitude.

"..."

Yang Jian's mouth twitched. He was not angry and continued asking, "Sir, do you know how the person at the village entrance died? So young, with such decent features—it's a pity to die like that."

"Get lost!"

The old man enunciated clearly. That single word, "lost," was steady and forceful, as though he had tempered it thousands of times.

"Sir, can't you talk properly? Is that the only word you know?" Yang Jian asked.

"You little brats, get lost! Can't you see your old man is busy?"

The old man looked at Yang Jian sideways. His attitude was more than unfriendly—it was downright vile.

Yang Jian thought for a moment, then pulled out one hundred yuan from his pocket.
