Hitting on My Childhood Sweetheart? Have Diarrhea Until You Question Your Life!
Outside the arrivals hall at Jinghai International Airport.
Ruan Qingwu strode out, pulling a silver suitcase behind her.
She was already strikingly beautiful, and now excitement had dusted her fair, cool cheeks with a faint blush, sweeping away even her usual unapproachable air.
Fatty Wang followed behind, pushing two large suitcases and panting from the effort.
"Qingwu, slow down! My legs are about to fall off trying to keep up!"
Ruan Qingwu ignored him, her beautiful eyes sweeping back and forth across the crowd waiting for arrivals.
Suddenly, her gaze stopped.
A young man in a white T-shirt leaned against a railing not far away.
He stood tall and straight, his casually tousled hair lending him a lazy air.
In his hand was a plastic bag printed with "Old Wang's Breakfast."
"Lin Bei!"
Ruan Qingwu's eyes lit up. Abandoning even her suitcase, she ran straight toward him.
The sight of this dramatic transformation left several male passengers who had been about to approach her with their jaws shattered all over the floor.
"Where did you run off to?" Ruan Qingwu stopped in front of Lin Bei and tilted her head up slightly to look at him.
Lin Bei casually handed her the warm plastic bag and grinned.
"Told you I had my own transportation. Here, freshly steamed soup dumplings, with extra chili and cilantro."
Ruan Qingwu took the bag and glanced at the plump white dumplings inside. The resentment she had built up over being stood up instantly vanished like smoke.
"At least you have a conscience," Ruan Qingwu muttered.
Then she abruptly raised her head, her voice brimming with irrepressible excitement.
"Lin Bei, you seriously missed out by not taking the same flight as us today!"
Lin Bei raised an eyebrow. "Why? Were they handing out gold bars on the plane?"
"It was even crazier than that!" Fatty Wang finally caught up, pushing the suitcases.
He dumped the suitcases on the ground and jumped into the conversation, gesturing wildly.
"We saw an immortal up in the sky! He was standing on a sword, racing through the clouds! That speed-whoosh, and he'd overtaken our plane!"
Ruan Qingwu nodded vigorously in agreement. "It's going viral online now. Even military fighter jets were scrambled, but they couldn't even catch his shadow."
Seeing how little of the world these two had seen, Lin Bei was blooming with delight inside, but he put on a surprised expression.
"Seriously? Something that unbelievable? You sure you didn't see things? A person flying ten thousand meters up-doesn't he need to breathe?"
"If I'm lying, I'm your grandson!" Fatty Wang grew agitated, pulling out his phone to open his gallery. "I've even got a video! Didn't get his face, but that view from behind was incredible!"
Lin Bei leaned over for a casual glance and thought, Who filmed this? They made me look pretty slim.
While the three huddled together watching the video, a commotion rose from the entrance to the arrivals hall.
Zhou Zihao swaggered out with four lackeys.
Back on the plane, the bastard really had been badly frightened by that sword immortal who had appeared out of thin air outside the window.
But after landing, once that feeling had passed, his rich-second-generation way of thinking took over again.
He figured it had to be some secret holographic weapon test the government was conducting, which they had just happened to stumble upon.
Immortals? Where would you find immortals in this day and age?
After changing into clean pants, Zhou Zihao felt like he was somebody again.
The moment he left the hall, he spotted Ruan Qingwu standing beside the railing.
When he saw that innocent campus belle, who had treated him as coldly as frost on the plane, smiling so sweetly at some poor kid dressed in street-stall clothes-
The flames of jealousy in Zhou Zihao's heart shot straight to the crown of his head.
"Let's go."
His face cold, Zhou Zihao headed straight over with his lackeys.
"Well, Qingwu, what a coincidence."
Zhou Zihao stopped in front of the three and looked Lin Bei up and down, undisguised contempt filling his eyes.
"And who's this?"
The smile on Ruan Qingwu's face instantly vanished, replaced by her aloof, unapproachable look.
"None of your business. Lin Bei, let's go."
Zhou Zihao wasn't annoyed by the rebuff. Instead, he stepped forward and blocked their path.
"Don't be in such a hurry to leave." Zhou Zihao sneered and pointed at the plastic bag in Lin Bei's hand. "Qingwu, judging by how your friend dresses, he's probably never even been on a plane, right? He comes to pick you up and fobs you off with junk food from a roadside stall? That's just pathetic."
Fatty Wang's temper flared. Rolling up his sleeves, he was about to unleash a stream of abuse. "You bastard, what's it to you? Are we eating your family's rice?"
The lackeys behind Zhou Zihao immediately stepped forward, glaring menacingly at Fatty Wang.
Ruan Qingwu knitted her brows, about to erupt.
Lin Bei, who had remained silent all this time, suddenly reached back, took Ruan Qingwu by the wrist, and gently pulled her behind him.
Not only was Lin Bei not angry, he actually grinned.
He handed the plastic bag to Fatty Wang, then unhurriedly stepped forward to stand in front of Zhou Zihao.
"Buddy, move aside."
Lin Bei's tone was calm. He neither threatened nor shouted.
The sight of Lin Bei looking so utterly unruffled irritated Zhou Zihao even more. He stiffened his neck. "And if I don't? What can you do to-"
Before he could finish.
Lin Bei raised his right hand and gave Zhou Zihao's shoulder two seemingly casual pats.
They weren't hard enough to make much of a sound.
But at the instant his palm touched Zhou Zihao's shoulder.
A wisp of pure spiritual energy from Lin Bei's dantian traveled through his fingertips and slipped soundlessly into Zhou Zihao's body.
The wisp of spiritual energy flowed down along his meridians and concealed itself directly inside a major acupoint near his stomach and intestines.
Zhou Zihao only felt an inexplicable cool breeze pass across his belly, but he paid it no mind, assuming it was the airport's air conditioning.
"Who the fuck are you touching? Get your filthy hand off me!"
Zhou Zihao slapped Lin Bei's hand away in disgust and was just about to order his lackeys to attack.
But Lin Bei had already withdrawn his hand and reached over to take Ruan Qingwu's suitcase.
"Fatty, lead the way. We're going to campus."
Watching the three walk off, chatting and laughing, Zhou Zihao was so furious that he kicked a nearby trash can.
"Fuck! Who the hell does he think he is? Some broke bastard who eats at roadside stalls dares challenge me!"
"Young Master Zhou, calm down." A lackey beside him hurried over with a placating smile. "That kid's just a reckless punk. Once we're at school, we'll have plenty of chances to deal with him."
"Deal with him? I'm going to show him what happens when he offends me, Zhou Zihao!"
Zhou Zihao cursed through gritted teeth.
At the same time.
At a military airfield on the outskirts of Jinghai City.
A military transport aircraft bearing no civilian aviation markings landed smoothly on a secret runway.
The hatch opened, and several men in dark jackets with crew cuts hurried down the boarding stairs.
The man in front was named Sun Lixin.
Forty-two years old, he had an ordinary face that would be utterly impossible to pick out in a crowd.
Yet if that face appeared anywhere within Jinghai City's official circles, even the municipal bureau's leaders would have to address him politely as "Group Leader Sun."
Leader of the State Security Bureau Special Operations Group.
Specifically responsible for thorny incidents that science couldn't explain and conventional methods couldn't resolve.
Sun Lixin got off the plane, ignoring the military region personnel who had come to meet him.
His head was lowered, a military-grade encrypted tablet in his hands.
On its screen, a blurry video enhanced through technical restoration played over and over.
In the video, a man wearing a gray short-sleeved shirt and standing on a battered iron sword hovered ten thousand meters in the air.
The man turned his head and leisurely gave the fighter jet's electro-optical sensor a thumbs-up.
Then he vanished into thin air.
Sun Lixin swiped a finger across the screen, freezing the video on that raised thumb.
"Group Leader Sun."
A subordinate hurried over and reported in a lowered voice.
"The military region has sent over all the radar data. The target vanished into thin air in the airspace over the barren mountains outside Jinghai City. The radar signal dropped completely to zero."
Sun Lixin nodded, his face betraying no change in emotion.
"Pull all road surveillance footage, Skynet System footage, and dashcam recordings within a fifty-kilometer radius of the area where the target disappeared. Screen every suspicious person who appeared during that time frame."
"Especially..." Sun Lixin paused, tapping the gray-clad figure on the screen.
"Young men between eighteen and twenty-five, on the thin side, wearing gray short-sleeved shirts or white T-shirts."
"Dig three feet into the ground if you have to, but find this man."
"Yes, sir!"
