Li Yan only felt his vision blur. The light before him was no longer yellow, and the air instantly became fresh.
He was standing outside a vermilion courtyard wall. The wall stood thirty meters high and stretched away on both sides, though the vegetation to either side blocked his view.
Li Yan turned around. The ancient inheritance hall behind him was mostly obscured by the vermilion courtyard wall. Looking upward, he could see part of the walls of an enormous palace, while the rest disappeared into dark, gloomy clouds.
Beneath Li Yan's feet lay a cobblestone path that wound onward. On either side stood a grove of dark-green bamboo.
The entire sky remained dim and overcast, giving the impression of a mountain storm about to descend. This end of the path had come to an abrupt halt at the courtyard wall.
There was no gate here either. After making a brief inspection, Li Yan immediately stepped forward and soon disappeared into the dark bamboo grove.
The bamboo forest rustled beneath the fierce wind, its branches swaying madly without cease. The sky grew ever gloomier, as though torrential rain would come pouring down the very next moment.
Bamboo leaves were constantly swept up and blown past him, both across the ground and through the air. The bamboo grove gave off strange, mournful howls of "woo woo," yet Li Yan did not take to the skies. He simply continued forward along the cobblestone path.
His Divine Sense had long since spread into the distance. Disciples had already been teleported out from the hall, yet Li Yan did not see a single figure.
The gale continuously swept the slanting bamboo branches on either side toward Li Yan, as though intending to bury him within them. His azure robes snapped loudly in the wind
