Li Yan narrowed his eyes and carefully looked ahead. He was not looking at the clay jar covered by yellow cloth, but at what was on the stone wall behind it.
A painting had been carved there. Originally, because the clay jar blocked it, Li Yan could see only part of it. But when he had swept it with his Divine Sense just now, he had clearly seen the mural carved behind it in an instant.
It depicted a monk walking beneath the moon. A crescent moon hung in the sky above, while below was a mountain that had not been fully carved.
Yet the carver's skill was profound. The exposed portion of the mountain had still been rendered lifelike, carrying a deep and far-reaching artistic conception...
A winding stone stairway climbed up the mountain. Since the stone wall offered limited space, one could only judge from the steps eventually narrowing into a thin line in the painting that this mountain ought to have been very tall.
In the part blocked by the clay jar, an old monk in a patchwork robe was climbing the steps. Only half of his body was visible, as though he had just rounded a bend along the mountainside and revealed half his figure.
Besides that, there were crooked pine trees decorating the side. What Li Yan was staring at now was neither the old monk nor any other part of the painting, but one of the old monk's half-extended, half-curled hands.
The entire scene had been carved from a slightly overhead angle. One hand of the partially revealed old monk was held upright before his chest in a single-palm gesture, while his other hand stretched forward, carrying a lantern.
It was simply a scene of an old monk walking through the night beneath moonlight.
