"What else?"
"If this continues, it won't look good for either of you," Yan Heqing said calmly. "For his sake, stop liking him and find someone else to like."
Lu Muchi's face turned pale instantly.
What nonsense is Lin Fengzhi spouting! He already...
His heart tightened.
Yan Heqing is going to misunderstand again!
He quickly tried to explain, "I..."
Click.
Just then, the living room door opened, and Cheng Xinying followed behind with tea and snacks, her head bowed.
Lu Changcheng's scrutinizing gaze fell on Yan Heqing, and he lightly tapped the floor with his cane. "Young man, let's talk alone."
Chapter 66
Lu Muchi was the first to react, "Why are we talking alone? Say it here!"
"Shut up," Lu Changcheng said in a deep voice, "You have no right to speak now."
Lu Muchi displeased, glanced at Yan Heqing, and finally shut up.
He couldn't show that he cared about Yan Heqing, otherwise Yan Heqing would be in big trouble if his grandfather found out the truth.
It's best to crack a joke and get away with it.
Lu Muchi his mouth to feign weakness and act coquettishly, something Lu Changcheng always fell for. "Grandpa—"
At the same time, Yan Heqing spoke up, "Where would you like to talk?"
Neither humble nor arrogant, with graceful manners.
Lu Muchi kept giving him meaningful glances. His grandfather was particularly good at getting information out of people. If Yan Heqing really went with him, he would get the truth out of him in just a few sentences!
Yan Heqing ignored him and calmly met Lu Changcheng's scrutiny.
This gave Lu Changcheng a good impression.
Born into a humble family, yet composed and unafraid.
Lu Changcheng was now largely convinced that Lu Muchi was willing to listen to Yan Heqing's words, based on Cheng Xinying's statement.
Lu Changcheng suddenly smiled broadly, "I'm old and can't move around easily, so let's talk here."
He then turned to Lu Muchi, his tone stern, yet with a hint of affection, "Hurry up and clean up your crime scene! Wait till your uncle gets back, you'll be sorry!"
He brought up Lu Lin, Lu Muchi surprised, "Uncle is coming back today?"
Thinking of his room being smashed to pieces, Lu Muchi rushed out in a few steps.
Lu Changcheng's gaze was a mixture of doting and helplessness. He then looked at Yan Heqing and said, "Sit down, young man."
He sat down on the sofa first.
Cheng Xinying followed and put down the tea and snacks, then silently left the room and closed the door.
Yan Heqing knew Lu Lin was at the company, but this was the first time she had seen Lu Muchi's apprehension towards Lu Lin firsthand.
Simply mentioning their names is enough to suppress them.
Yan Heqing took a few steps and sat down opposite Lu Changcheng.
He didn't speak, waiting for Lu Changcheng.
Lu Changcheng was still observing Yan Heqing. He hadn't noticed at the hospital, but now, looking closely, he still couldn't tell that Yan Heqing was a twin of the Lin Family's youngest son.
He looked down on Lin Fengzhi, a pale-faced, inexperienced young man, just like Xu Qiaoyin, and not presentable at all.
Lu Changcheng slowly began, "I've investigated. You and Lin Fengzhi are twins. You were sent to an orphanage after a family tragedy. He was adopted by the Lin Family, and you were adopted by an ordinary family."
He observed Yan Heqing's expression; the young man remained calm and composed throughout. After he finished speaking, Yan Heqing said matter-of-factly, "Please speak your mind."
Lu Changcheng said slowly, "I overheard your conversation at the door. It's a good thing that your brother has someone he loves, but my grandson—"
Stroking the cane handle in his palm, Lu Changcheng gave a kind smile. "You two are good friends, you should know his temper. He's stubborn and inflexible. He might not necessarily like your brother that much. Young people will have impulsive moments, it doesn't mean anything. If you drag this out, it will never be Xiao Chi who gets hurt, it will only be your brother."
Yan Heqing returned a polite smile, "You want me to advise Lu Muchi?"
Lu Changcheng was even more satisfied. He was old, and talking to smart people saved him a lot of energy. "My old bones can't keep up with the times. Xiao Chi always says there's a generation gap between us. You friends are more useful than me."
He used both soft and hard tactics, threatening without batting an eye, "If you can't persuade him, I'll have to go directly to your brother."
"But I believe you can persuade me," Lu Changcheng said confidently. "You are a smart and good older brother."
Encountering Lu Changcheng was outside of Yan Heqing's plan, but it wasn't entirely unusable.
After weighing his options for two seconds, Yan Heqing calmly said, "I can't do it."
Lu Changcheng's expression changed instantly. "Aren't you afraid I'll go after your brother?"
"I'm afraid," Yan Heqing said calmly. "But if I can't do it, I can't do it. I promised you, but I can't do it. I'm not that bold."
Lu Changcheng's expression softened, and he nodded with a smile, "You're very honest. I'm not asking you to persuade him immediately. Young people's emotions are like a forest fire; if you control it and don't let it spread, it will eventually be extinguished."
"Then first you must set this forest free," Yan Heqing smiled. "If it's trapped, the fire will only burn brighter."
Lu Changcheng also knew that keeping Lu Muchi up was not a long-term solution. He kept Lu Muchi locked up to prevent him from going to see Lin Fengzhi. If they were to do something shameful and be photographed by reporters, it would be a mistake. Now that Lin Fengzhi someone else in his heart, he was half relieved.
He put down his cane, picked up his teacup, and took a sip. "I'm getting old and don't like crowds anymore, so I won't keep you for dinner. You and Xiao Chi can go out to eat."
The implication was that Lu Muchi's confinement had been lifted.
A dozen or so servants were cleaning the hallway at the same time. Lu Muchi pressed himself against the living room door, trying to eavesdrop on the conversation inside. However, although the floor scrubber was almost silent, it still disturbed him. He could only hear people talking, but he couldn't make out the details. Just as he was about to get angry, the door opened from the inside.
Caught off guard, Lu Muchi fell straight in. He quickly grabbed the door frame and managed to steady himself in a comical manner. Panting, he looked up and saw Yan Heqing's calm face.
Lu Muchi straight in a hurry and asked in a low voice, "My grandfather didn't make things difficult for you—"
Before he could finish speaking, a deep cough echoed in the room, followed by Lu Changcheng's reproachful voice, "Look at you, so unkempt! Go change your clothes. Heqing rushed to see you after school and hasn't eaten yet. Take him out to eat."
Lu Muchi's pupils nearly burst from the shock.
