At Yan Heqing's action, disbelief first flashed through Lu Muchi's dark eyes. Then he let go of Yan Heqing, stepped back, and doubled over laughing. He genuinely found it hilarious; there were even tears at the corners of his eyes.
He seemed to have found a novel plaything.
Lu Muchi leaned leisurely against the balcony door, his long legs casually crossed. He took a cigarette case from his trench coat pocket, drew out a cigarette, flicked his lighter, lit it, and put it in his mouth.
"Fine."
He took a drag, then slowly exhaled a smoke ring. "I'll wait with you."
"What about them?" He chuckled. "Are they waiting with me too?"
That remark was directed at the bodyguard.
The bodyguard knew this king of hell was angry and hurriedly lowered his head, warning, "Go back to your rooms."
He released Yan Shengbing.
Yan Shengbing no longer dared waste words. He called to Zhao Huilin, "Hurry up and help me back to the bedroom!"
His voice was much quieter.
Zhao Huilin could hardly wait to leave. Stuffing the money she had picked up into her pajama pocket, she rushed over.
Yan Shengbing was as overweight as Yan Feng. Unable to support him, Zhao Huilin had to call to Yan Feng. "Fengfeng, come help."
Yan Feng did not move for a long while. Zhao Huilin looked over anxiously and saw a conspicuous wet patch on his pant leg.
Yan Feng was twelve, yet he still could not hold his pee.
Helpless and distressed for him, Zhao Huilin hauled Yan Shengbing up and dragged him along, taking Yan Feng's hand with her other hand, and returned to the bedroom with them both.
The bodyguard likewise left without a sound.
The only sound in the room was the clicking of the lighter.
The front door stood open, cold wind pouring in without pause. Yan Heqing stood motionless, his sickly body looking as though it might be blown over at any moment.
Lu Muchi said nothing either. After all that commotion, he had lost interest, only to develop another.
He toyed with his lighter, watching Yan Heqing through the swirling smoke.
Actually, on closer inspection, Yan Heqing did not look all that much like Lin Fengzhi.
Lin Fengzhi was fair and soft, so foolish that one worried about letting him go out and only wanted to hide him at home and pamper him alone. He cried easily; once the tap was turned on, it would not stop, but a single piece of candy could soothe him. When he smiled, he had a little dimple.
Yan Heqing's features were striking and beautiful, but there was a coldness in his eyes and brows. Lu Muchi had never seen him smile and did not know whether he had a dimple.
Lu Muchi put away his lighter and spoke with interest. "Give me a smile, and I'll let you off tonight. How about it?"
Yan Heqing acted as if he had not heard.
Before long, the police arrived: two officers, one older and one younger.
After entering, the younger officer's gaze moved between the two of them. "Who called the police?"
"I did." Yan Heqing walked toward the door.
Just as he passed, Lu Muchi grabbed his arm. "I don't like my things getting too close to other men."
He spat out the cigarette butt. "They can hear you from here."
Yan Heqing knew he was no match for Lu Muchi in strength. He wasted no effort struggling and nodded to the younger officer. "It's him. He broke into a private home at night."
The younger officer was a little unsure and turned to look at the older officer.
The older officer had been studying Lu Muchi since entering, feeling that he looked familiar. He asked uncertainly, "What's your name?"
Lu Muchi remained perfectly composed. "Lu Muchi."
A subtle change came over the older officer's expression.
No wonder he looked familiar. So he was that one from the Lu family...
The older officer took Yan Heqing's statement, then questioned Yan Shengbing and Zhao Huilin. Naturally, neither sided with Yan Heqing. Smiling, they said Lu Muchi was a friend's son who had come over to visit, and Yan Heqing was just sulking.
With the couple saying that, there was nothing the police could do. They mediated for a while, then left.
The voices faded, and cold wind continued pouring into the room. Despair finally appeared on Yan Heqing's face.
Lu Muchi laughed at the sight. That expression was wonderful. He had wasted his time playing this little game with Yan Heqing precisely to see an expression like that.
Shattering and destroying Yan Heqing’s hope right before his eyes was more interesting than mere carnal desire.
Slowly grinding the cigarette butt on the floor beneath the toe of his shoe, Lu Muchi sneered. "You should've agreed earlier. You wasted your chance."
Lu Muchi said no more. He hauled Yan Heqing away.
Yan Heqing was so light that Lu Muchi easily dragged him downstairs without the slightest effort.
Zhao Huilin and Yan Shengbing hid behind the bedroom door, eavesdropping in fear. Only after hearing Lu Muchi leave did they dare move or speak.
Yan Shengbing rubbed his nearly broken hand. "Fuck, he's finally gone!"
Zhao Huilin immediately pulled down Yan Feng's urine-soaked pants, tears streaming down her face. "Don't be scared, sweetheart. Let's get your pants off..."
Downstairs, Lu Muchi opened the car door and was about to shove Yan Heqing inside when Yan Heqing spoke.
"I have a condition."
Lu Muchi's gaze turned cold.
Still the same.
He had seen plenty of people like Yan Heqing. They merely took advantage of the fact that he had not gotten them yet to raise their price.
All that fuss was still just to increase his own worth.
The tiny spark of interest Lu Muchi had just developed in Yan Heqing vanished in an instant. "Say it."
The mottled streetlight fell at an angle across Yan Heqing's face, illuminating one half while the other remained hidden in darkness, indistinct and unreadable.
The late-autumn wind was piercingly cold. Yan Heqing wore only thin clothes, and his thin lips had turned blue in the wind. Slowly, he uttered a few words.
"Find my biological younger brother."
Yan Heqing knew calling the police now was useless. Nothing had happened yet.
He was acting.
He would make Lu Muchi think he was afraid and backing down, then seize on Lu Muchi's weakness and deliver a real blow.
Lu Muchi loved Lin Fengzhi. That was his greatest weapon at present.
Yan Heqing remained unmoving and indifferent, his glasslike eyes fixed on Lu Muchi. "I have a biological younger brother I was separated from as a child. As long as you find him, I'll agree."
Lu Muchi's haughty gaze instantly grew complicated.
He had long since investigated Yan Heqing's background, and naturally had discovered that Yan Heqing was Lin Fengzhi's older twin brother.
After being adopted into the Lin family, Lin Fengzhi had fallen seriously ill. Once he recovered, he remembered neither his past nor that he had a biological older brother.
