Xin Wuya's Solemn Oath

Ji Yuan, however, showed no extra reaction. He reached up and patted the Little Paper Crane on his shoulder, then said to Xin Wuya,

"This Little Paper Crane was a folded item I made years ago when I had nothing better to do. I do not know when it began, but it gradually gained a trace of spirituality. Though innately deficient, it still possesses the Potential to Attain the Dao."

Xin Wuya subconsciously gave Ji Yuan's shoulder another look. This paper crane was far more than merely a little spiritual, so he added,

"May I ask how this paper crane is addressed, Mister? I wished to seize it just now for a closer look, and may have offended him. I should apologize."

Ji Yuan had never truly given the Little Paper Crane any formal title. After considering it, he said,

"A fellow Daoist from Yuhuai Mountain once called it Crane Child. Let us call it that."

"Xin did not know just now that you were Crane Child. I thought you were a paper offering from the ghost city and offended you. I offer my apologies to Crane Child and hope you will be magnanimous!"

His manner was utterly sincere, and the Little Paper Crane was quite pleased by it. More importantly, it greatly liked this title. It also imitated an ordinary person in cupping its hands, bringing its two paper wings together before itself and bowing. It appeared rather generous.
