The night at Iron Shield Fortress had never been so noisy, nor so quiet.
The hustle and bustle was palpable both inside and outside the city walls. Engineers and logistics troops toiled through the night under searchlights, repairing the wounds left by the day's battle, reinforcing fortifications, and transporting crates of ammunition and energy crystals up the walls. The medical area was brightly lit, with doctors and nurses moving among the wounded, their suppressed groans mingling with the smell of disinfectant. Soldiers, clutching their weapons, leaned against the ruins, feigning sleep, their faces etched with exhaustion, yet their eyes burned with an unquenchable fighting spirit.
The temporary command post, located in the core area of the fortress, was silent. The top combatants participating in the " Spacetime Crevice " expedition were making their final preparations and adjustments. The atmosphere was so heavy it seemed like water could be squeezed out of it.
I. The integration of forces
On a cleared training ground next to the command post, several figures were rapidly moving about.
Luffy activated Gear Fourth: Snakeman, his body twisting and turning like rubber, his fists, wrapped in top-level Armament Haki, slamming into Allen like a storm. His attacks were incredibly fast, with tricky angles, and each strike contained the power to shatter mountains and split rocks.
However, Allen's figure appeared unusually elusive in the moonlight. He wasn't using his full strength, but merely relying on his nascent Awakening of the surrounding spatial particles to make minimal movements. Luffy's fists would often be dodged by the slightest margin just before touching the hem of his clothes, as if he had foreseen all the attack trajectories in advance. Occasionally, he would extend a finger and lightly tap the incoming fist, Luffy would immediately feel the air around the fist become viscous, his speed abruptly slowing down, as if he had struck an invisible swamp.
"Wow! Allen! That was such a cheat!" Luffy withdrew his fist, grumbling in dissatisfaction, but his eyes were filled with excitement and wonder.
"This isn't cheating; it's a basic application of spatial awareness." Allen smiled slightly, a glint of silver in his left eye. "In the crevice, the stability of space is different from here. You need to adapt to this change more quickly. Try using your Observation Haki to sense the 'folds' in the space."
On the other side, Ace and Sanji were also engaged in sparring. Ace's World-Purifying Flame transformed into countless platinum-gold firebirds, attacking Sanji from all directions. Sanji, on the other hand, combined Geppo with Diable Jambe, which had begun to incorporate the concept of "Purifying Flame," leaving behind streaks of golden afterimages in the air. His legs, like red-hot steel whips, kicked the firebirds away one by one, causing them to explode into clusters of brilliant sparks.
"The temperature is high enough, but the concentration can be improved further." Sanji landed, lit a cigarette, and commented, "The demonic energy in that area is probably even denser, so the flame's purifying properties need to be more concentrated for it to penetrate effectively."
"Stop nagging, Curly Brow! You should be worried about getting swept away by the spatial turbulence!" Ace retorted, but secretly adjusted the shape of the flames, making them more restrained and solid.
Jinbe did not participate in the sparring. He sat cross-legged not far away, his hands lightly touching the ground, with a faint blue aura of water surrounding him. He was adjusting his state, striving to combine the power of Fish-Man Karate with the ultimate control over water (energy flow) to the best possible way to cope with the unknown environment.
In his makeshift laboratory, Luo repeatedly unfolded and retracted his "ROOM" space, examining several captured low-level monster samples. He needed to precisely calculate how much the consumption, range, and accuracy of the Op-Op Fruit's abilities would be affected in areas where spacetime rules were disordered, and to find the optimal solution.
Sabo didn't participate in the training. He stood at the highest point of the command post, observing through binoculars the scar-like crack in the distant sky and the faintly visible silver-purple chains around it. His pen moved rapidly across his notebook, jotting down various possible contingencies and corresponding countermeasures. As the commander-in-chief, he had to consider more than anyone else.
II. Pluton ' Upgrade
In the port area, the massive hull of Pluton gleamed with a cold, metallic sheen under the moonlight. Inside the bridge, Nami and Franky were busy working on the complex control interface.
"Energy conduit overload parameters recalibrated!" Franky shouted excitedly as he tightened a spring-like device. "SUPER! This increases the ' Purification Pulse ' emission frequency by thirty percent!"
Nami stared intently at the radar screen and energy flow graph. "According to the data provided by Allen, the energy turbulence in that crevice area is very strong. Our shield system needs to adjust its deflection frequency to... this band. Also, the trajectory calculations for long-range artillery fire must incorporate spatial distortion correction; otherwise, it simply won't hit the target."
"Leave it to me!" Franky patted his chest confidently. " Pluton's ultimate shipborne computer, ' Neptune,' can perform Chaos calculations! But it needs more energy cores..."
"I've already contacted the logistics department to prioritize transporting the high-purity energy crystals from our inventory." Nami rubbed her temples, her face showing fatigue, but her eyes were bright. "We must ensure that Pluton is their strongest support."
III. The Undercurrents
While the allied forces were making intensive preparations, the area deep within the rift was not entirely silent.
Inside the Spacetime Closed Loop, in that eerie area that was almost frozen in time, the massive, dark red figure remained frozen in its charging posture. However, the destructive energy emanating from it spread out like a stone thrown into still water, creating extremely faint, almost imperceptible ripples.
These ripples are not physical impacts, but rather a higher-level erosion and infiltration targeting the very rules of spacetime. Like the most patient hunter, it analyzes and dismantles the sealing structure laid down by Allen bit by bit. Although slow, it is unwavering. Its will, filled with savagery and greed, is like a cold, venomous snake, subtly locking onto the " Torch Dragon " aura below, which it finds both threatening and alluring, through the cracks.
IV. Decision and Farewell
Late at night, Allen climbed alone to the highest watchtower of Iron Shield Fortress, facing the rift in the sky.
The night wind ruffled his black hair, causing his clothes to flutter. He could clearly feel the growing malice and impact emanating from the other side of the seal. Time was truly running out.
Footsteps came from behind. It was Luffy, Ace, and Sabo.
"I knew you'd be here." Sabo walked to his side and looked at the crack as well.
"It starts tomorrow." Ace cracked his wrists, the joints making a soft popping sound.
Luffy adjusted his straw Straw Hat, unusually quiet, and simply looked at Allen: " Allen, we'll win, right?"
Allen turned around and looked at the three brothers whose fates were intertwined with his (though not related by blood, their bond was stronger than that of brothers). His gaze swept over Luffy's unwavering face, Ace's fiery eyes, Sabo's wise and composed gaze.
He did not make any hasty promises, but slowly raised his hand, palm up, and a tiny phantom of Torch Dragon appeared, surrounded by fine sands of time and flickering particles of light and darkness.
"I don't know how it will end," Allen said calmly but firmly, "But I know we must go. For this world that holds our laughter, tears, dreams, and promises."
He clenched his fist, and the phantom of the Torch Dragon let out a silent roar.
"This time, we will fight side by side until the end of time."
The four men clasped hands tightly. The bond of brotherhood and the will that Transcendence time and space coalesced into an invincible sword, pointing directly at the threat in the heavens.
On the eve of the expedition, its sharp edge lies hidden beneath the silence, awaiting the dawn to tear through time and space, ushering in the final battle that will determine its fate.
