Norton Street was about a seven- or eight-minute drive from Green Street. That district was also South City's liveliest "Bathhouse Street."
Old Lindun's Outer City had a vast number of factories, whose huge steam boilers consumed countless tons of coal every day. As a result, the air quality in the city was terrible, with enormous amounts of particulate matter and dust always floating in the sky. That was why Old Lindun's residents also had a deeply ingrained bathhouse culture. Rich or poor, everyone chose to soak every day and wash the filth from their bodies.
Although Old Lindun's groundwater could not be drunk directly, it was perfect for bathing. Every day, vast amounts of boiler water flowed out of the factories. From cheap public bathhouses that cost a few coins per visit to high-end bathhouses offering all kinds of services, there was everything one could want.
And Norton Street alone had over a thousand bathhouses of all sizes.
