Tribal Inspection
Just as the new clansmen were busily turning over the soil with great enthusiasm, Yan was walking on his way to the Youth Team. He was in a good mood and his steps were light. He had finished all the things he needed to do these past few days, and today he had some free time to go and see the Youth Team.
Before even getting close to the Youth Team's camp, a series of neat shouts could be heard—the sounds of the boys training, loud and powerful, echoing through the empty valley. Yan quickened his pace and entered the camp.
In the camp, hundreds of teenagers were training; some were practicing formations, while others were working on physical fitness.
Standing on the sidelines were two familiar figures— Daya and Zhuangchai. Their expressions were serious, their eyes sharp, and they frequently shouted corrections to the movements. Daya's voice was loud and clear, like thunder. "You, straighten your legs! Raise your arms higher!" Zhuangchai's voice was deep but powerful. "Steady! Don't sway! Do it again!"
Yan didn't disturb them. He quietly walked to the sidelines and watched. Although the boys' movements were still a bit clumsy, they were already quite good, much better than when they first arrived. After watching for a while, he asked Daya and Zhuangchai about the details of the training and offered some suggestions. Daya and Zhuangchai listened attentively and nodded from time to time.
"Alright, you guys get back to work, I'm leaving now." Yan patted the two of them on the shoulders, turned and left.
After leaving the Youth Team camp, Yan went to the Hunting Team camp. Before he even got close, he heard shouts of battle. It was the soldiers training. Yan quickened his pace and entered the camp.
Inside the camp, hundreds of soldiers were training. Yingmu and Shibang stood on the sidelines, giving instructions. Both men wore leather armor, carried bronze swords at their waists, and were full of vigor with piercing eyes. Yingmu's voice was deep and powerful, while Shibang's voice was loud and clear like a bell.
Seeing Yan approaching, the two quickly went to greet him.
"Boss!" Shibang ran ahead, a smile on his face, "You're here!"
Yingmu followed behind, nodding and smiling.
Yan looked at them, nodded, and asked, "How's your training going?"
Shibang patted his chest and said, "Boss, don't worry, every single one of our soldiers is an elite!" He pointed to the soldiers who were training, "Look at them, they're all full of energy and high spirits. If the Tiger Tribe dares to come, we'll beat them to a pulp!"
Yingmu nodded and said, "Yes, everyone has been busy lately."
Yan nodded in satisfaction, his gaze sweeping over the soldiers who were training. Their movements were synchronized, their shouts were loud, and their eyes were firm, clearly indicating that they had been training for a long time. Especially the veterans, with their scars and murderous intent in their eyes, were people who had truly been on the battlefield.
"The conflict between the Fire Tribe and the Tiger Tribe is inevitable sooner or later." Yan looked at them seriously. "You must train your men to be elite so that they can perform well when the time comes. The Tiger Tribe is not the Wolf Tribe. They have over 100,000 people, 30,000 armored warriors, and giant ships with a carrying capacity of 100,000 jin. Although our Fire Tribe has developed rapidly, we are still behind them. Therefore, we cannot be careless."
The Shibang and the Yingmu exchanged a glance, both seeing determination in each other's eyes.
"Boss, don't worry!" Shibang patted his chest. "We'll definitely train them well! When the Tiger Tribe comes, we'll let them taste the might of our Fire Tribe!"
Yingmu nodded and said, "Yes, the warriors of our Fire Tribe fear no one!"
Yan nodded and said, "Okay, I believe you."
He walked to the sidelines and watched the soldiers train. When the soldiers saw him, they trained even harder. Some raised stone weights above their heads, some swung wooden swords with a whooshing sound, and some shot arrows that hit the bullseye. Yan watched for a while and was very satisfied. These soldiers were the future of the Fire Tribe.
Over the next few days, Yan visited various workshops. In the pottery workshops, the craftsmen were busy, some mixing clay, some throwing clay, and some firing kilns. The kiln fires were blazing, and the heat was intense.
The Xiaotou in charge stepped forward with a smile and said, "Young Master Yan, you've arrived!"
Yan nodded and asked, "How's production lately?"
The Xiaotou said, "Great! It's increased by several times compared to before. At this rate, production will double next year!"
Yan nodded in satisfaction and then asked, "What about the quality? Is there no problem?"
Taolao patted his chest and assured him, "Don't worry! Our pottery is even better than that of the Tiger Tribe!"
Inside the bronze workshop of the Deer Tribe, craftsmen were busy at work; some were smelting copper, some were forging, and some were polishing. Flames roared, hammers clanged, and as the Tongchui came at them, Yan asked, "How's the recent production of farm tools?"
Tongchui said, "We make enough farm tools and implements for our tribe every day, and there's even a surplus."
Yan nodded and then asked, "What about bronze weapons? Is the inventory sufficient?"
Tongchui said, "That's enough. We have over 20,000 pieces in stock. If a war really breaks out, that's enough to arm more than 20,000 people." Yan nodded in satisfaction.
In the textile workshop, women were weaving cloth. The spinning wheel creaked and groaned, and the shuttle flew swiftly through their hands, folding the cloth neatly into neat piles.
The person in charge was now a middle-aged woman named Zhiniang. She came forward and said, "Young Chief, you've arrived!"
Yan nodded and asked, "How's production lately?"
The Zhiniang said, "It's 50% more than before. We have enough linen and blankets, and we can even exchange a lot for food." Yan nodded in satisfaction.
Inside the salt-making workshop, craftsmen were boiling salt. The brine in the large pots bubbled and steamed, filling the air with a salty aroma. The Yanbo greeted them, "Young Chief, you've arrived!"
Yan nodded and asked, "How's production lately?"
Yanbo said, "The production of fine salt has increased by 30% compared to before, enough to feed 100,000 people, with a surplus." Yan nodded in satisfaction.
Inside the shipbuilding workshop, craftsmen were busy at work; some were sawing wood, others were planing boards. The person in charge was an old craftsman named Chuantou.
He stepped forward, a smile on his face, and said, "Young Chief, you've arrived!"
Yan nodded and asked, "How's it going at the shipbuilding workshop lately?"
The Chuantou said, "We can build eight or nine ships with a carrying capacity of 50,000 jin by next spring. We've completed this year's task of building ships with a carrying capacity of 20,000 jin, and we'll continue building them next year. We also completed the construction of ships with a carrying capacity of 10,000 jin this year. Now we're preparing the materials for next year's construction and inspecting the ships." Yan nodded in satisfaction.
After making his rounds, Yan had a clear understanding of the situation. The workshop's output was sufficient to support the Fire Tribe's rapid development. With new tribesmen integrated, the Fire Tribe was growing stronger day by day.
