Origami looked at the blond, blue-eyed policeman.
There was no fear in the other person's eyes.
There is only one kind of resolute, "what's the use" attitude.
"Since you started it."
Origami Theory.
"Then you can't blame me."
She threw a punch.
There are no bonuses from Noble Phantasm or Magecraft.
But the force of that punch was enough to send a truck flying.
The blond policeman's pupils contracted sharply, and he raised the knife in his hand in an attempt to block.
The knife broke.
The force of the fist penetrated the broken blade and slammed into his chest.
His body flew backward.
Walk through half the hall.
Then it crashed into the wall.
He was embedded in the concrete wall of the police station like a nail, with only his head and half a shoulder sticking out.
"..."
The hall was deathly quiet.
The other police officers who were about to take action froze in place.
Origami retracted her fist and flicked her wrist.
"Anyone else want to make a move?"
No one answered.
That's enough.
A voice came from deep within the hall.
Calm, deep, with a weary air of authority.
A middle-aged man in a dark suit walked out of the corridor.
His golden hair was neatly combed back, and his features were well-proportioned, but the fine lines at the corners of his eyes and the deep frown lines between his brows revealed his recent mental state.
Orlando Reeves.
Chief of the Snowfield City Police Department.
He walked to the center of the hall and stood between Origami and the group of policemen.
He looked at his subordinates who were embedded in the wall, and then at Origami.
Then he raised a hand, signaling all the police officers behind him who were about to draw their Noble Phantasm to stop.
"Everyone, put your weapons away."
"But Director," someone spoke up.
"I said, put your weapons away."
No one spoke anymore.
More than twenty police officers silently retreated to both sides of the hall, putting away the Noble Phantasm in their hands.
Orlando turned his head to face the Origami.
"You're here to take someone back."
It is not a question.
"Right."
Origami nodded.
"That blond knight, and that girl with glasses."
I can grant your request.
Orlando's voice was calm.
But Origami could tell that his calmness was forced.
A thin layer of cold sweat covered the man's forehead, his hands were in his suit pockets, and his cuffs were trembling slightly.
He was afraid.
But he still stepped forward.
Origami added a point to her opinion of this man.
They're much better than those lackeys.
"But there's one condition."
Orlando said.
"Before my people take you to see her, I need to confirm one thing."
You won't do it in this building.
"Your only target is her, isn't that right?"
The Origami tilted its head.
"As long as your people don't block my way, I have no interest in this building."
Orlando nodded.
He turned to a policeman standing next to him.
"Take her to the third floor, to the detention cell where the blond man is being held."
"Yes, yes, Director."
A young policeman emerged from the crowd, Pale- faced but still able to walk.
He gestured "please" towards the direction of the Origami.
The Origami didn't move.
Where is the priest?
She looked at the dark-haired priest in the corner of the hall.
"He's not one of yours?"
Orlando followed her gaze.
The priest was leaning against the wall, his hands in his pockets, with a look on his face that said, "Finally, it's my turn."
"His name is Hansa Serbandis, the overseer sent by the Holy Church."
"They're not one of our people, but they're still considered partners."
"The overseer?" Origami's tone was uninterested. "The overseer of this Holy Grail War?"
I guess so.
Hansa himself took over the conversation.
He stepped forward and nodded slightly to the Origami.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Archer."
"My name is Hansa Serbandis, and as you can see, I am a priest."
Origami looked at him.
This man's sense of magic is strange.
On the surface, the concentration of magic he exuded was only at the level of an ordinary Magecraft, but there was a very strange aura emanating from his body.
Are you human?
Origami asked directly.
Hansa smiled.
"I'd say he's a modified human."
"Renovation?"
"Some parts of my body have been replaced." He patted his right arm, making a dull metallic clang. "You get old, things always start to go wrong."
Origami did not ask any further questions.
She had little interest in priests.
"Get out of the way."
"Okay, okay."
Hansa stepped aside, making way for the path to the stairwell.
"Good luck, Miss Archer."
Origami didn't respond, but turned and followed the young policeman inside.
The young policeman walked in front, with Origami following behind.
The two walked down the corridor one after the other and headed for the elevator.
Origami while walking and thinking.
The police chief from earlier also had magical fluctuations emanating from him.
So, he's also Magecraft?
In the United States, the government and Magecraft are surprisingly entangled.
Even a position like police chief can be held by Magecraft.
It seems her previous assumptions were wrong.
She had always assumed that official forces would not participate in the Holy Grail War, which was the precedent set in previous Holy Grail War.
But this time is different.
The government may have gotten involved in this Holy Grail War as well.
Considering the fact that each of the police officers had a copy of the Original Noble Phantasm, it's almost certain that Origami is the one in question.
The Servant summoned by the government is none other than Gilgamesh.
I'll deal with that unfamiliar blonde Servant first.
I'll settle the score with this police chief later.
The elevator reached the third floor.
The young policeman carried Origami through a long corridor.
The corridor was lined with detention cells, each door fitted with a heavy iron window, from which dim light shone through.
At the end of the corridor, the last room.
"This is... this is the one."
The young policeman's voice trembled.
Origami walked to the door of the detention cell.
You can see inside through the iron bars.
Origami glanced inside.
"..."
The detention cell was empty.
The cell wasn't large, about ten square meters.
An iron bed, a toilet, and a fluorescent light.
A neatly folded blanket lay on the iron bed.
There was a half-eaten plastic lunchbox on the ground, containing the unfinished food.
There was nobody there.
The young policeman also came over for a look, and froze.
"Ah?"
Where are they?
He flung open the door to the detention cell and rushed in, looking around.
There wasn't one under the bed.
There's nothing behind the toilet.
The windows were sealed shut.
This detention cell had no exit from beginning to end.
But the person simply disappeared.
"This... this is impossible..."
The young policeman's face went from Pale to deathly white.
"I personally witnessed them being locked up before I left work... The chief even came by in person..."
He turned his head and looked at the Origami.
His eyes were filled with terror.
Origami stared blankly at the empty detention cell.
These police officers probably wouldn't dare to mess with me.
In other words, the blond knight took advantage of the chaos caused by the Dead Apostle's intrusion and ran away?
They run pretty fast.
Origami sighed inwardly.
I hope I don't waste my time again tonight.
Although one of the suspected Master's Dead Apostle has been dealt with.
But I still feel very unhappy.
"Go ask your bureau chief."
Origami said something to the young policeman.
Ask him if he knows where those two people went.
"Yes, yes!"
The young policeman, feeling as if he had been granted a pardon, turned and ran out of the corridor.
The footsteps faded into the distance.
