Samuer vaguely remembered that the place beneath his feet should have been a rainforest, but reality told him that there was only sand here now, endless sand.
The Demonic Tide permanently changed many things; compared to the upheaval here, the sunken Klaf City seems so insignificant.
Nors, once the empire's second-largest city, which flourished hundreds of years ago, has now been occupied by the Skeleton Alliance and renamed " Sand Capital " due to the dramatic changes in its surroundings.
After traveling for a while, a city wall could finally be vaguely seen in the sand and dust ahead.
The city wall reflected an eerie light in the sunlight, its overall appearance being a sinister semi-transparent shape, as if it were haphazardly piled up with some kind of crystal.
As the grey-robed man approached the walls of Sand Capital, his journey was finally no longer lonely.
Some of the Skeleton Alliance residents who came from other paths got closer and closer to him, and after curiously glancing under the hood, they were all stunned and speechless.
Noticing the strange and curious gazes around him, Samuer turned his head expressionlessly, and his eyes met those of a skeleton that looked a head shorter than himself.
Although there wasn't a single scrap of flesh left on the skeleton, he could still sense through the flow of Psionic Energy that the skeleton opposite him was looking at him.
He had been in the Skeleton Alliance for over half a month, and by all accounts, he should have gotten used to it by now.
But Samuer still felt uneasy whenever he saw a large group of skeletons staring at him.
He simply took off his hood, looked at the skeleton, and said:
"If you're curious, just look at it."
The skeleton opened its mouth in astonishment, and because it had no flesh, it made a very crisp "crack" sound.
He, or she...
In short, the skeleton reached up and pressed his slightly dislocated jaw back into place, looked Samuer up and down, and asked:
"Where are you from? What brings you to Sand Capital?"
As a skeleton, its mouth can only make a "crackling" sound when it opens and closes.
However, with the aid of different frequencies of Psionic Energy, it can still transmit information to the ears of the person in front of it.
"I am an envoy, and I have come to present treasures to your king."
Samuer remarked casually, and the skeleton was greatly shocked:
"You mean... some of the members of the Skeleton Council?"
"Yes, that's about it."
The skull looked Samuer, who was somewhat thin beneath the gray robe, up and down, and finally focused its Psionic Energy gaze on the only thing that seemed to have some value:
"This?"
He pointed to the huge falcon behind the gray-robed youth and asked.
The giant falcon understood the meaning of the skeleton, looked at the skeleton man with sharp eyes, and opened its arms and cried out.
The skeleton trembled in fear, whether it realized it was no match for the giant eagle or remembered the habit of large falcons to suck the marrow from bones.
"No."
Samuer reached out and stroked the falcon a few times to soothe it, while shaking his head and saying:
"The treasure isn't here; you'll need to go get it yourselves."
Just as the skeleton and Samuer were having a lively conversation, a powerful Psionic Energy surge suddenly came from the city gate of Sand Capital not far away.
Although this Psionic Energy was powerful, it was essentially no different from the Psionic Energy fluctuations emitted by the skeleton.
With just a slight sensitivity to Psionic Energy, one can directly analyze it as a signal similar to sound and understand its meaning.
Now Samuer understood the meaning of that Psionic Energy fluctuation perfectly.
It was a stirring piece of music; clearly, it was welcoming him.
Sand Capital is already the capital of the Skeleton Alliance. Samuer had already alerted the Skeleton Alliance's border guards when he entered the territory.
He explained his purpose to the guards, who then offered to escort him to Sand Capital as soon as possible, but Samuer politely declined.
Therefore, the border guards had no choice but to send two teams: one on horseback to Sand Capital to deliver the message, and the other to escort Samuer to Sand Capital.
Although Samuer was the only one left who made it this far, at least he arrived safely, didn't he?
Amidst the clatter of Psionic Energy drums, Samuer finally arrived near the city gate.
A tall, skeletal frame looked down at him. Although only bones remained, the large skeleton still revealed the imposing figure of the man in life; even if he wasn't a general, he must have been a formidable fighter.
What attracted Samuer's attention even more was clearly the material of the skeleton.
Unlike the short, cowardly skeleton that had previously appeared before, the material of this skeleton seemed to have changed significantly.
His bones seemed to be covered with a layer of enamel-like substance, which, although opaque, reflected light in a way somewhat similar to the crystals that make up the city walls.
Along his spine, tiny clusters of crystals had filled the gaps between the vertebrae.
The combination of these two elements made the skeleton look as if it had just been pulled from a supersaturated solution, its entire body covered in crystalline reflections of light.
Upon seeing this luxurious skeleton, Samuer naturally compared it in his mind to the commoners he had seen before.
After confirming that this person was no ordinary individual, he simply gave a perfunctory bow.
"My name is Samuer. Take me to see the 'senators'."
The tall, imposing frame nodded in return with a strange gesture:
"Captain Quint of the Parliamentary Guard, messenger, please follow me."
Led by the Crystal Skull and the other skeletons, Samuer entered Sand Capital through the West Gate and began walking along the main street towards the city center where the council was located.
Samuer also had his eyes opened along the way. As the capital of the Skeleton Alliance, Sand Capital naturally had a large "population".
Just watching the large skeletons watching and having fun, the small skeletons playing and frolicking in the streets and alleys, and all sorts of skeleton cats, dogs, and even skeleton rats running around everywhere on the street, Samuer felt a sense of absurdity from the bottom of his heart.
Finally, after passing through the bustling city, Quint led Samuer to a building constructed entirely of unknown crystals.
"Envoy, regarding this..."
Quint pointed to the enormous falcon on Samuer's shoulder; its danger was well-known, and bringing it before the councilors seemed inappropriate.
"Oh well."
Samuer patted the falcon's thick thigh and said:
"You can play by yourself for a while."
His response was a sharp bird cry, and then the falcon spread its broad wings and disappeared into the clouds in a gust of wind.
"What amazing creatures."
Captain Quint clicked his tongue in amazement as he looked in the direction the giant eagle had disappeared.
"I'm still a bit behind you guys."
Samuer curled his lip and said:
"Take me inside."
