"Everyone, adjust your gear. There might be combat soon, which will affect your movement. You can leave it aside for now. Also, don't forget to check the value of your gear; we don't know how many of us will survive this mission..."
"Check if you have enough money to rebuild your body and run back from your corpse, so you don't get stuck on a bug and can't revive..."
[ Gill's Cuisine ] As the captain of this squad, he was nagging about safety and other important instructions, while the strangely dressed warriors he brought with him obediently began to adjust themselves.
The sound of a longsword scraping against its scabbard filled the air as a knight in simple full armor drew his iron sword and stood before everyone, awaiting orders from either the captain ([ Gill's Cuisine ]) or the vice-captain ([ Western Sharpshooter ]).
[ Gill's Cuisine ] looked at his good brother:
Have the coordinates been recorded?
[ Western Sharpshooter ] nodded:
"Don't worry, the post is already in my drafts. If we get wiped out, I'll post it and let others come here to wipe them out."
[ Gill's Cuisine ] waved forward:
"Alright, everyone, slow down and pay attention, let's go!"
A group of more than a dozen people cautiously made their way into the cave, but no intricate or winding passages appeared before them.
The cave shows obvious signs of being carved, with chisel marks even visible on the rock walls. Clearly, whoever carved it didn't intend for it to become a maze. So, compared to natural caves, this is practically a beginner-friendly Dungeon, and you don't need to worry about getting stuck in the crevices.
After walking about a hundred meters forward, the group was shocked to find that they were in a dead end.
A rock wall completely blocked the passage in front of them, making everyone's careful vigilance seem like a joke.
However, several players with relatively rich combat experience realized that things were not so simple. One player dressed as a minor nobleman came to the rock wall, reached out and gently tapped it to try to confirm whether it was made of rock. Then he went to the edge of the rock wall and observed the interface between the surrounding caves and this rock wall.
He quickly came to a conclusion--
This thing isn't a stone wall, it's a door.
The gaps at the edges were not completely sealed, and although the material was similar to stone, there were no traces of chiseling on the surface.
Such an obvious flaw could be seen by anyone, but discovering the problem does not mean that the problem can be solved—the stone wall still stood in front of everyone, separating the Blood Corpse on the other side.
"How about we send a coordinate request for support?"
Suddenly someone in the group spoke up, and several sharp eyes quickly turned to him. The man raised his hands and waved them in defense:
"I just... feel like I'm carrying too much equipment, more than three-quarters of my belongings. If I die this time, I'll go bankrupt."
Seeing no understanding in the eyes of the crowd, the cowardly lizard gripped his weapon even tighter.
"Alright, alright, I won't leave. You guys figure out a way to break down the door. Didn't they say [ Haide ] wanted to try making explosives here? What happened?"
[ Western Sharpshooter ] shook his head:
"The rules of the game world are different from those in reality. He told me that I have to figure everything out from scratch, and the amount of chemistry knowledge I have in the real world that can be applied here is pitifully small."
"Okay, so how do we tear down this wall in front of us now?"
"Shh."
Suddenly someone reminded them, and everyone then noticed that the player dressed as a nobleman had pulled out a small hammer, about the size of a palm, from somewhere and began to gently tap on the rock wall in front of him, as if trying to discern whether there was a cavity behind it by listening to the echoing sound.
The group listened quietly to the "bang bang" sounds echoing through the rock wall, while the player carefully pressed his ear against the rock face to gather information.
"Hey, what's his major?"
Someone in the group asked their friend.
"It seems to be the geology department."
"No wonder, who would carry a hammer like that around with them?"
"Keep your voice down, it sounds a little different."
The group looked towards the rock wall and saw that the "noble" player from the geology department had already tapped at the bottom of the rock wall. He seemed to have discovered something and was constantly searching for his target by tapping.
Finally, he located a protrusion about the size of a bowl at the bottom of the rock face, and turned back to his companions with considerable pride, saying:
"Brothers, I think I've found the mechanism."
"Go ahead, we're ready."
"No problem."
The "nobleman" raised his small hammer, ready to tap the mechanism to see if he could open it and see the cavity below.
However, just as he raised the hammer, the sizable protrusion instantly flipped inward by half a circle, transforming from a hemisphere protruding from the rock wall into a blood-red eye the size of a bowl.
The enormous, scarlet eyeballs were covered with fine gray filaments, their colors blurry and hazy like a palette wet with rain.
These are the characteristics of Blood Corpse's eyes.
At this moment, the Blood Corpse's eyes were still moving, aiming their gazes directly at each player inside the cave.
After a brief moment of shock, the geology player did not take a step back and sit down as normally would. Instead, he increased the force in his hand, making the geological hammer cut through the air with a whooshing sound, and landed heavily on the eye.
"Bang!"
The enormous stone eyeball burst open instantly, and a viscous liquid, a mixture of mud and blood, flowed down, spreading across the ground beneath everyone's feet.
A low growl, powerful enough to make a small mountain tremble, came from behind, and everyone realized something was wrong.
So they all followed their hearts and made their choices.
Dry!
If this happened in the real world, everyone would definitely rush to run away. But the point of playing games is the experience, right? If you run away at this moment, your teammates will laugh at you so much that they'll quit the game.
In almost the blink of an eye, everyone's weapons had already slammed into the stone wall in front of them.
The expected vibration of hard objects colliding did not occur, and no one felt numbness in their hands. Upon closer inspection, they discovered that their weapons had sunk into the "stone wall" in front of them, and the stone wall was visibly crumbling.
The players now realized that the stone wall must be some kind of enemy with camouflage. Although they didn't know the weaknesses of this slime-like monster, it didn't stop them from focusing all their efforts on the monster in front of them.
The monster with its eyes blasted out wasn't as powerful as its roar suggested. It was quickly reduced to pieces by the players' axes, and the rock wall formed from its body gradually collapsed, revealing the true scene inside the cavity behind it.
Hundreds of Blood Corpse stood solemnly in the cave behind the monster, surrounding a coffin with intricate carvings in the center.
At that moment, they all turned their heads in unison, looking at the group of uninvited guests with their murky, bloodshot eyes.
