The damp, chilly air in the dimly Number One interrogation room seemed to seep into one's bones, and the rhythmic dripping of water echoed in the gloomy space, making it impossible to fall asleep.
A burly middle-aged man plopped down opposite the young half-dragon, his mechanical right hand rhythmically tapping the table, producing a series of piston-like sounds.
With a gloomy face, he took a timer from his assistant, wound it up twice, and then slammed it onto the table in front of him with a thud.
"Confess honestly, or you'll die when the bell tolls."
The half-dragon's hands were cuffed behind his back, preventing him from scratching his head. He could only tilt his head, but his tone was full of confusion:
"Explain what? What is there to explain? Didn't I already say it?"
"Confess to the Blood Corpse, confess to the count, confess to the severely overloaded and modified mobile fortress!"
The interrogator slammed his hand on the table, causing the already heavy metal timer to run two seconds faster.
"That's exactly what I said. We're from the Second Holy See in the West. We figured nobody wanted this count, so we brought him along. As for overloading... yes, the Antasia's rated capacity is fifty Blood Corpse, but we have a count here, right? With one order from him, those Blood Corpse are all eager to get in and step on the ramps, aren't they?"
[ Lion Hidden in the Eyes ] spoke half-truths; he wasn't deliberately trying to make things difficult for the person in front of him, he simply wanted to experience what it felt like to be interrogated.
For half-dragons, conventional interrogation methods aren't always effective.
His tough skin is impervious to whipping, and the characteristics of Red Dragon make him extremely resistant to high-temperature branding irons. As for things like nail pulling or tooth extraction, he does intend to try them out; he really wants to see just how realistic this game can be.
Anyway, I won't feel any pain. If it really doesn't work, I can just reopen it back in my hometown. My previous insurance is still in effect after I paid a little extra.
Despite the dim light, [ the Lion Hidden in the Eyes ] could still sense that the interrogator in front of him was practically fuming with anger.
"Do you really think we're all fools? Or do you think that so-called Second Holy See Vampire Count is some common weed in your world?"
"It's not quite weeds, but it's certainly not that rare."
[ Lion Hidden in the Eyes ] replied flippantly, still in that "believe it or not" tone.
Seeing the fearless half-dragon before him, the interrogator rose and walked towards the door, saying to his assistant:
Waterboarding.
On the surface, he intended to leave, but in reality, he was heading to a more secluded observation window to observe the half-dragon's subtle movements from an angle that was not normally visible, hoping to find some new clues.
He walked calmly on the surface, but his heart was filled with turmoil: the half-dragons were indeed thick-skinned and tough, and interrogating them would not be so easy.
However, the remaining two are in a vegetative state due to the Tree Worship Church, so getting anything out of them shouldn't be too difficult... right?
The reality was slightly different from what the interrogator had anticipated; he was unaware that the tough-skinned fellow in front of him was actually the one who had survived the least of the three.
Meanwhile, in Interrogation Room Number Two:
The [ Traditional Eccentric Wheel ] is marveling at all sorts of machines.
He stared at the timer in front of him, completely ignoring the interrogator's questions, and asked himself:
"Could you please share the standard gear specifications for your Graycast Corridor? I'd like to use them as a reference so that parts can be interchanged in future collaborations. Also, could you share your track specifications? I'm thinking of operating a train someday..."
You have no future!
The interrogator was furious, but the person in a vegetative state remained engrossed in their art.
"Hey, could you introduce me to a High Tier merchant? I want to see how the legendary Machine Spirit makes machines malfunction."
"Beat them!"
"Oh, right, let me tell you, you can hit me all you want, but don't damage the small World Tree statue in my luggage. It's a gift for you Grand Foundry Master."
Smash him! Smash him hard!
"May I ask what type of alloy you usually use in the Graycast Corridor? Brass? Do you have titanium here? If you do, it might unlock a new technology tree. I happen to have two classmates who are orthopedic specialists who are good at that."
"Dip them in salt water and suck them! Then go get two more and suck them together!"
"The ventilation system in this cell seems to have some problems. Is it all natural ventilation? Won't there be a lot of strange lingering smells...?"
The two sides continued talking back and forth, without answering each other's questions at all; they were completely on different wavelengths.
Seeing his three subordinates whipping him until sparks flew, yet the vegetative patient before him remained unmoved, the interrogator in charge of the [ Traditional Eccentric Wheel ] suddenly felt like a helpless husband.
He's already tried so hard, why isn't the prisoner even showing a basic reaction?
Even just calling out a couple of times is a way of giving yourself face.
Where did this vegetable-like person come from? Hopefully, the other one won't be this difficult to deal with...
In interrogation room Number Three, a dramatic scene is unfolding.
One of the interrogators said sternly:
"Tell me the origins of the Blood Corpse, and honestly reveal your identities."
Several slender, Deadwood Vine intertwined and overlapped, forming a green hand puppet in each of the [ Shit Appraisal Master ]'s hands. One of them looked somewhat like him, while the other wore a large, Graycast Corridor -style military cap, clearly the interrogator before him.
As soon as the interrogator finished speaking, the puppet interrogator in front of the [ Shit Appraisal Master ] quickly said in a sharp, affected voice:
"Tell me the origin of the Blood Corpse, or else, yahiahiahia~"
The player puppet on the other side immediately protected its head and shouted:
"No, don't come any closer! I'm so scared!"
Interrogator puppet:
"Heh heh heh, now you're scared? Too late!"
Player puppet:
"Ask me anything you want to know, I'll tell you everything, whether it's the secret of the giants hidden inside the walls, or the exact location of One Piece, I know a lot more..."
The two puppets continued to converse in strange tones about strange things, while the [ Shit Appraisal Master ]'s lips and throat barely moved, trying his best to perform the puppet show well.
"Pfft."
Suddenly, an uncontrollable laugh came from behind the interrogator. He turned to look and saw one of his men covering his mouth with his hand, his body trembling.
The interrogator's eyelids twitched twice, and his facial expressions were on the verge of spiraling out of control.
Looking at the subordinate who couldn't help but laugh, he gave a stern order:
"Go cut that thing down for me!"
