Tim caught a glimpse of Duchess Margaret approaching through the gaps in the tree buds.
Being stared at by eight eyes was not a pleasant experience, especially since, as the vampire drew closer, Tim discovered that her two legs seemed to serve no real purpose.
What truly propelled her forward were the hairy, arthropod-like legs beneath her black robe, seemingly descended from some kind of spider.
As if noticing Tim's gaze, Margaret giggled.
"Little knight is watching so intently, has he never seen his big sister before?"
"I've truly never seen such an ugly monster."
Tim's expression turned solemn as he gripped his knight's sword tightly.
Xilǐ'er watched as the old man with the face of a young man planted his wooden cane into the stone ground, and then sensed a long-lost fluctuation.
He had only experienced that kind of fluctuation in one place— the Second Holy See.
" Radish!"
Xilǐ'er shouted and yanked on the reins, and his fully armored horse leaped into the air with him.
The stone ground suddenly Shattered, and a long, slender spike made up of seven or eight tree roots rose from the ground, piercing the spot where the man and horse had just been standing.
The attack missed, but the several-meter-high spikes did not retract; instead, more Psionic Energy gathered on them.
One breath later--
"Whoosh!"
The original single spike burst forth with even more tiny needles, shooting not only toward Xilǐ'er, but in all directions.
The knight's lance spun around his back, knocking away dozens of wooden spikes. Xilǐ'er dared not be careless at all; after all, the person opposite him was a genuine High Tier, and even with full armor, he dared not take the opponent's attack head-on.
As the man and horse landed on the ground, Xilǐ'er saw the old man named Cuiske twist his wooden cane slightly, and he knew that another spike would soon emerge from beneath him.
His mind raced, and he loosened the reins and said to Radish:
"Take me to hide."
Having said that, he closed his eyes and concentrated, and two clear prayers, belonging to a young man and a middle-aged knight, rang out simultaneously in the underground space.
The Eternal Domain Knights are so powerful, and their ability to resurrect is only one factor among many.
Another factor, and the key clue that Ed deduced was that one of the Twin Kings was the vampire grand duke, was " Descent."
After learning from Noya that a Middle Tier Knight of Conquest could slay a dragon on the spot after praying to the Twin Kings, Ed gained a general understanding of this ability.
Furthermore, after [ Howling Pothos ] and others practiced the Grand Duke Descent Technique, he roughly figured out the limitations of this ability.
Clearly, the stronger one's own abilities and the more compatible one is with the Grand Duke, the stronger the power the Grand Duke will be after his Descent, and the longer it can be maintained.
At this moment, the two knights are proving his point with their actions, while Ed himself is ready to Descent in another form.
"The founders of the Eternal Domain, the Supreme and powerful Twin Kings, the loyal knights yearn for your gaze, to defeat the formidable foe before us..."
Eternal Domain, Twilight Capital, Twin Kings Palace.
The two people on the double-sided chairs instantly opened their eyes, and the pressure of their Psionic Energy spread outwards, as if the entire city was shrouded in dark clouds.
Scenes appeared before their eyes, playing rapidly like a slideshow, quickly explaining the cause and effect of the events.
"After doing something like that, you still dare to pray to us?"
A voice rang out, no longer as deep and hoarse as before, but with a strength it had never shown before.
"That precisely proves that he has a clear conscience."
Another gentle voice came:
"Since you're praying at the same time, you can choose one side."
Is there any difference?
"Yes, the younger knight isn't as physically robust; we need to finish this quickly."
"Then there's no difference."
The Immortal King let out a sinister laugh:
"You know, time means nothing to me."
"But my knight has."
"Beware, those are 'our' knights."
"So what?"
"Since he is 'our' knight, I will naturally be more lenient with him—after all, we haven't stretched our muscles in a long time."
There was no further response from within the palace. The Twin Kings on the double-sided chairs closed their eyes simultaneously, and when they opened them again, they had already Descent into the underground lake hundreds of meters below the Klaf City.
At this moment, Radish, in its free-driving state, had already dodged the old man's three attacks.
However, a horse's brain is obviously not capable of much thought, and while Xilǐ'er was offline, he had unknowingly walked into Cuiske's trap.
After all, how could someone who can make spikes grow from the ground not use the ceiling and stone walls?
Feeling confident that he had the enemy under control, Cuiske twisted the wooden staff in his hand, and dozens of sharp spikes surged toward Xilǐ'er from all directions, about to kill him in one blow.
At that moment, the knight on horseback opened his eyes instantly, and the radiating eyeballs in the Eternal Domain emblem on his chest lit up instantly. The entire infinity symbol was stained with a blood-red color and began to slowly "burn" like a fuse.
The lance began to dance at an incredible speed, and the resulting gust of wind shattered the spikes that were about to pierce through the chest.
"Who are you?"
Cuiske's expression changed drastically as he stared incredulously at Xilǐ'er had escaped a seemingly hopeless situation.
You have no right to know.
The spear pierced through the air, and with a twist of Cuiske staff, countless plant barriers appeared in front of him.
The knight's lance, gleaming with crimson runes, charged forward relentlessly, shattering layers upon layers of wooden barriers as if they were scraps of paper.
The spear that broke through the last barrier failed to pierce the enemy's chest as intended. Even with Xilǐ'er's perfect physique, he was still no match for High Tier, and ultimately fell short in terms of speed.
Cuiske dodged the blow that could have shattered a person to pieces by sidestepping to the side. Then, he stepped on the spearhead that was stuck in the ground, pulled out the cane stuck in the stone ground with his other hand, and smashed the head of his mount, Radish, with a powerful blow.
On the other side of the battlefield, Margaret could clearly sense a huge change in the aura of the "little knight" in front of her.
This is clearly a dark underground lake, yet for some reason it gives one the feeling of dusk, when the sun is about to set.
The young knight glanced at Margaret, and she felt her movements become sluggish.
The flow of limbs, internal organs, and even blood seemed to be slowed down.
We must create distance first!
Cold sweat beaded on Margaret's forehead; she couldn't comprehend what kind of power she was facing.
With all eight spider legs exerting force, she leaped backward, and as she did so, the spider portion of her body shot out a highly adhesive web forward.
Any creature that comes into contact with this substance is absolutely unable to escape, and such attacks usually only need to hit three or four times to be enough for her to win the battle.
However, Margaret's calculations completely failed the next moment.
She herself landed lightly not far away, but the spider web that had been shot out flew slower and slower until it stopped completely when it was less than half a foot away from the young knight, hovering motionless in the air.
"Very nice."
The young knight looked at Margaret:
"The recovery is going much better than expected."
