"Whoosh, whoosh, splash..."
The sounds of panting, running, and rustling leaves filled the forest.
Shadow Wolf gradually came to his senses.
As his gaze swept across the surroundings, he only saw one after another of the Calamity Beast, all in the same state as it, running through the forest.
Many of them still have wounds and bloodstains on them.
There were other Calamity Beast, and also... those that guarded them, the Black Rat!
Even now, Shadow Wolf was still somewhat bewildered, wondering why things had suddenly turned out this way.
Strangely enough, many of the Calamity Beast didn't come out after they finished mining.
Then, because the difference in numbers was too great, the Black Rat noticed.
Then, the Black Rat went down.
Then, screams rang out.
Then, some of the guys who had already come out suddenly took advantage of that moment to run away.
Then, the Black Rat, who were already watching them warily because of the sounds coming from inside the mine, immediately gave chase.
However, they dared not distribute too many, since there were still many, many Calamity Beast left behind.
Then, for this reason.
It seems one of them actually... got away?!
Shadow Wolf stared wide-eyed, still somewhat uncertain.
And then...
It doesn't remember clearly what happened next, only that things suddenly became chaotic.
Then, one by one, the guys started running outwards as if their lives depended on it.
It doesn't know why, but it just started running after it.
Of course, those Black Rat were in the way.
However, that small number was simply insufficient compared to the thousands of Calamity Beast.
The only slightly troublesome thing is those few Fourth Tier Black Rat.
It is because of these things that many of the Calamity Beast have so many wounds.
Fortunately, in the end they managed to kill the few Fourth Tier Black Rat they could, and drive away the rest.
Can they really escape?
Just as I was pondering this, a roar suddenly rang out from the side.
"Quick, there's another Black Rat over there. Let's go kill it, otherwise it'll send word back that we escaped from there!"
"Yes, kill that guy! If we kill him, each of us beasts can get a little more!"
"Kill! Kill!..."
A roar instantly rang out.
Shadow Wolf turned his head and looked around, and then, taking advantage of the change in the group's direction of travel, he finally saw the Black Rat that those guys had mentioned.
There does indeed appear to be a Black Rat in sight.
However, the Black Rat had already been frightened long before it even noticed, and it frantically ran backward.
"Quick, keep up, kill it, kill it..."
The roars continued.
One after another, the Calamity Beast followed and ran over.
The Shadow Wolf paused, seemingly trying to think of something, but the sounds around it and the approaching Calamity Beast urged it to continue.
It paused for a moment, but ultimately, instinctively, it followed.
"Laugh--"
"Roar--"
"Quickly, kill them! Give these guys..."
"You guys, I'll give you one last chance. Go back now, and I can treat it as..."
"Don't believe them, if you go back..."
"Yes, that's right..."
"Damn it, I really didn't lie..."
"Kill them, kill them..."
A cacophony of roars echoed through the woods.
Hundreds of Calamity Beast were fiercely fighting and communicating with the dozen or so Black Rat.
It was obvious that one of them looked rather exasperated.
but...
Actually, it has no impact.
Even if some Black Rat believed what it just said, there wouldn't be many.
After all, a chaotic battlefield is never short of disruptive noise.
That volume was so small that it would only affect a dozen or so Calamity Beast nearby at most.
Outside, as time went by, one Black Rat after another fell to the ground.
Furthermore, as more Black Rat Black Rat fall, the rate at which they fall will increase even further.
finally.
With a curse filled with resentment, the Black Rat that had just spoken finally collapsed, powerless.
Then, one corpse after another was quickly devoured.
Soon, the group moved forward again.
Along the way, they occasionally encountered Black Rat, but the Black Rat avoided them as soon as they realized their presence.
After a while, they finally stopped.
The setting sun cast its rays upon the mountainside.
As if cleaved by a giant axe, a gap appeared in the surrounding mountains.
Below that gap.
Thousands of Black Rat are fighting against what appears to be an even greater number of Calamity Beast.
The blood, carried by the gentle breeze, could be smelled even from a distance.
There is no leader.
But the foremost Calamity Beast instinctively took a step forward and roared.
"The exit is just ahead. If we rush out that way, we'll be free!"
"No more being oppressed and exploited by those damned Black Rat every day, no more being beaten by them whenever they want, no more getting up every day to go to the mine to mine, and then not even having enough to eat after a whole day of mining!"
"Once we get out, we'll be free!"
"Do you even remember what freedom is like? Getting up whenever you want, lying down whenever you want, going out to hunt something when you're hungry!"
"This is the kind of life we should be living!"
"Yes, that's right, get out, get out!" a Calamity Beast echoed.
"Get out, for freedom! Get out!"
Anyway...
On the front lines of the battlefield, a Fourth Tier Black Rat swatted away a Tier Third Tier Calamity Beast that pounced on it. Just as it was about to do something, it paused and looked outside.
The next instant, his already unpleasant expression turned even more unpleasant.
What came into view were the livestock, one after another, rushing towards them once again.
Along with it came that cry.
" Calamity Beast, never to be enslaved!"
" Calamity Beast, never to be enslaved!"
" Calamity Beast, never again..."
"... lots, lots!"
"Moreover, when I came back, I saw even more Calamity Beast running in that direction!"
"I don't know how many more are behind, but I guess most of the Calamity Beast from the mines will probably rush towards the valley entrance!"
The sound faded.
silence.
One after another, Black Rat sat stiffly in place.
After a long while, finally a Black Rat appeared at the path.
"Why did things suddenly become chaotic? Didn't we receive any prior warning? Where are the guys guarding them? Didn't they notice anything?"
The voice grew increasingly angry as it went on.
The surrounding Black Rat remained silent; this was indeed a big problem.
They absolutely do not believe that this level of unrest was unorganized or pre-arranged!
But what if they had planned this in advance...?
