"What did you say?" the ' Rock-Backed Beast ' Two-Horned Lizard asked, opening its mouth.
"You weren't Lord Two-Horned Lizard before you came in, were you? Am I mistaken?" Black Jade Lion frowned as he looked at Two-Horned Lizard, somewhat puzzled.
" Two-Horned Lizard? Did I tell you that?" asked the ' Rock-Backed Beast ' Two-Horned Lizard.
"Shi..." The Black Jade Lion paused, its eyes wary, and said, "Wait, you're not lying to us, are you?"
"Uh, of course not! If I weren't Two-Horned Lizard, wouldn't you have already noticed when we first met? I've just forgotten too much and can't remember who I am for a moment!" the Two-Horned Lizard Rock-Backed Beast replied subconsciously.
After saying that, it paused, suddenly realizing that what it said seemed to make some sense.
If I wasn't one of them, how come these guys didn't notice?!
No...
It paused, then looked up at the two Calamity Beast before it.
They seemed to agree with what it had just said, nodding slightly.
"Do you still remember what I used to be like... uh, do you still remember what I looked like?" the Two-Horned Lizard asked.
The Black Jade Lion and the Steel-Mane Bear exchanged a glance, then replied.
"I don't remember the specifics very clearly, but I just felt that I wanted to get close to you and do things for you!"
Huh? What the heck is this?!... The Two-Horned Lizard was puzzled.
"Yes, I remember, you were the only one among many adults who didn't look down on low-level Calamity Beast. In fact, there was one incident where you stayed behind alone to cover the rear in the most dangerous place so that the others could escape!" Steel-Mane Bear added.
Ah? So there are such Calamity Beast?
The Two-Horned Lizard was taken aback for a moment, but quickly shook its head and began to think seriously.
Is it Calamity Beast?
No, it's hard to say.
After all, it's quite normal to watch from the shadows, then fabricate an identity you know and play it in order to control them.
but...
Was it really because I was acting that these Calamity Beast didn't suspect me?
The Two-Horned Lizard was somewhat puzzled.
I'd felt something was off before; it didn't seem particularly familiar with those humans.
However, the same applies.
It also seems unfamiliar with the Calamity Beast, and in most cases, it only seeks them out when it needs them.
So, am I human, or Calamity Beast?
The Two-Horned Lizard hesitated, unable to determine for a moment which side it was on.
After hesitating for a moment, it looked up and asked,
Do you... know what humans are?
"Humans? What are those things?" The two Calamity Beast looked at the Two-Horned Lizard with confusion.
"No, it's alright. Let's split up and run towards the portal. If other Calamity Beast distract us in the forest, our chances are still pretty good," the Two-Horned Lizard said, adding, "This is our closest chance to success yet!"
Hearing this, the Black Jade Lion and the Steel-Mane Bear nodded in agreement.
Now, getting out of the house is definitely the most important thing!
The two Calamity Beast quickly ran away into the distance.
The Two-Horned Lizard stood still, motionless.
Originally, according to the plan, it was supposed to go there and meet up with Shen Heng and the others, but...
Thinking of its conversation with the Black Jade Lion and the others, it hesitated for a moment.
If I were truly human, that would be one thing.
But if I were Calamity Beast, wouldn't going out with them be suicide?
Is he betting that he's actually better than them?
The Two-Horned Lizard shook its head, dismissing the idea.
It turned its head to look in a certain direction, hesitated for a moment, then turned around and quickly headed in the direction where the Black Jade Lion, the Black Jade Lion, and the Steel-Mane Bear had left.
On the other side.
A figure hidden in the grass was silently watching the direction the Two-Horned Lizard had just left.
Calamity Beast?
Shen Heng tried to recall, but still couldn't find any relevant information.
He paused, not dwelling on the issue any further, but instead turned his gaze to the fence erected in the distance, and further still, to the figure patrolling and running quickly beneath the wall.
Didn't they send any Black Rat over from here?
I originally wanted to make things even bigger.
Now... that should be enough, right?
"Alright, let's go!" Shen Heng stood up from the bushes.
Upon hearing this, the two figures lying nearby were slightly taken aback.
"Lord Shen Heng, aren't we waiting for that Rock-Backed Beast?" Stone asked.
"We can't wait any longer. That guy ran away on his own, and..." Shen Heng paused, looking at Qin Yu and Stone, and said, "That guy might be a Calamity Beast!"
"Huh? Calamity Beast?!" The voice echoed in Qin Yu's mind, filled with surprise.
There was no response; Qin Yu looked at the captain.
"Huh? Calamity Beast?!" Stone exclaimed as well, but the meaning in its voice was clearly different. It said excitedly, "Isn't that just like me? Why is it running away?!"
"No, he should be somewhat different from you, that guy..." Shen Heng recalled his memories, "... he doesn't seem like someone from our side!"
"I see!" Stone nodded, seemingly understanding.
"Alright, let's go!" Shen Heng turned his gaze to Qin Yu.
Without hesitation, Qin Yu nodded.
Three figures quickly ran towards the location of the teleportation portal.
Although they set off later, their progress was far faster than that of the Two-Horned Lizard.
Unable to conceal their tracks, they could only run forward as fast as they could while trying to suppress the noise they made.
Soon, their sounds gradually faded away.
Shen Heng ignored it and continued running forward.
The sound gradually faded in my ears, and then disappeared completely.
Then, a near-silence lasted for a while.
Then, at some point, it reappeared.
The sounds of cracking wood, roars, and screams of terror echoed in my ears, growing rapidly.
The guides left behind were mostly meant to direct the Calamity Beast towards the valley entrance.
But there are always Calamity Beast that defy the law and like to run away on their own.
The three of them didn't pay any attention and continued running forward.
Unseen shadows, like flowing water, lingered around them.
finally.
Shen Heng stopped.
Qin Yu, like Stone, stopped on the side.
What came into their view was an open space where hundreds of corpses lay, with blood flowing on the ground.
A murky yellow campfire burned quietly nearby.
Standing silently atop all of this was the Distortion portal, radiating a faint glow.
"This is... the portal that led out?" Stone asked, his voice trembling slightly.
For some reason, it felt like crying.
After all this time, are we finally going to leave?
Memories flooded my mind.
Because they didn't understand the situation, the Calamity Beast were killed as soon as they arrived; mining; the Calamity Beast captured while scouting; the riot; being transferred back; remembering less and less each day; the temple; and the Black Rat that were also used to confine them here using the temple...
Now, finally...
