The Calamity Beasts That Were Blocked
They should have been happy about this.
After all, without that force, they might have all been dragged out and killed by the monitoring Black Rat yesterday!
But then I thought of the six Calamity Beast that were captured by those Black Rat yesterday morning.
Quite by chance, none of the six Calamity Beast were Ridged Beast, Blast-Armor Rhinoceros, Gray-Clawed Xingxing, or the Calamity Beast that had helped find the others before.
One is normal, two is a coincidence, but three, four...
Of the ten that went out, four had seen them before, and six hadn't. It turned out that the six that hadn't seen them before were the ones that were caught and brought back.
The bizarre scene made them suspicious.
Could it be that the second group to search for an exit actually consisted only of those six Calamity Beast?
but why?
Why didn't the Ridged Beast and the Blast-Armor Rhinoceros go out? Why did the six Calamity Beast go out on their own? What happened to the Ridged Beast that disappeared?
One question after another surfaced in the minds of Steel-Mane Bear and Black Jade Lion.
They didn't know, or rather, they weren't completely unaware; they were simply unsure.
Perhaps, there's some guy watching them from the shadows all along.
Then, after they formulated their second exploration plan, that guy went to the mine that the Ridged Beast had gone to, which was closer to their destination, and adjusted the plan!
Thinking of those eyes that had been fixed on them, thinking of the Ridged Beast taking another path, thinking of that figure standing before the six Calamity Beast giving orders...
The two Calamity Beast, feeling a slight chill, continued to follow the group forward.
"Do you think it could be Feather Owl?" Steel-Mane Bear asked in a low voice from the side.
"No, if it were Feather Owl Xiao, there would be no need for this!" the Black Jade Lion replied in a low voice.
"Then, humans?"
"No way, humans don't have that kind of ability..."
After a brief exchange, the two Calamity Beast fell silent again.
The Black Jade Lion pondered for a while, but when it still couldn't come up with an answer, it finally gave up and looked up.
In my field of vision, there were more than a dozen Black Rat following me, including one that was at Fifth Tier.
Is it because of what happened yesterday that they're tightening their control even more?... The Black Jade Lion was thinking when suddenly it sensed something and looked to the side.
One by one, the Calamity Beast quickened their pace slightly as they walked along the side.
Several more Calamity Beast were there asking:
Why are you walking so fast?
"Shh, those Black Rat lords don't seem too happy today, so let's hurry up and finish..."
After a moment's hesitation, the Black Jade Lion looked at the Steel-Mane Bear.
Let's hurry up!
Steel-Mane Bear glanced at the figures, then nodded without hesitation.
The two Calamity Beast quickened their pace slightly.
They weren't the only two Calamity Beast to hear the commotion; one after another, other Calamity Beast nearby also slightly increased their speed.
A Rock-Backed Beast also increased its speed amidst the horde of beasts.
After a while, the beast tide approached the foot of the mine.
Then, the Black Rat that had been leading the way suddenly moved aside to the sides.
Upon seeing this, the Calamity Beast at the forefront was slightly taken aback.
This location isn't even where the supervising Black Rat usually stand, so why did it suddenly stop?
However, before they could even think, they saw the Feixu man in charge of the area impatiently wave his paw forward.
"Hurry up, get on with it!"
The sudden anomaly caused many of the Calamity Beast to worry for no apparent reason, but since things had come to this, they could only continue forward.
One after another, the Calamity Beast leaped past the Black Rat that were monitoring them.
Nearly two hundred Calamity Beast bypassed the Black Rat that were monitoring them.
The Calamity Beast at the very front turned its head and glanced over, then breathed a sigh of relief.
It seems I worried for nothing about this number!
With this in mind, they continued forward and stopped at the familiar open space.
Behind them, the Calamity Beast continued to approach.
Soon, more than half of the Calamity Beast passed Lord Black Rat, who was standing in the middle of the way.
The Calamity Beast at the forefront had completely stopped caring and was standing idly in the open space waiting.
Until a voice came from over there:
"Uh, this... Lord Feixu, what is this?"
The Calamity Beast, having already passed the control of the Black Rat, looked over.
The Black Rat, who had been standing on both sides letting them pass, had somehow moved back to the center, blocking the Calamity Beast that hadn't yet arrived.
The Calamity Beast that were blocked from passing were now watching them nervously.
They couldn't help but be nervous, as there were over a thousand Calamity Beast on their side, while they only had a little over two hundred.
The series of anomalies over the past two days, coupled with the absolute disparity in numbers, have left them feeling utterly insecure.
In particular, the Black Rat that were supervising them were still watching them.
A strong sense of unease was rising rapidly in their hearts.
On the other side, having already passed the Calamity Beast of the Black Rat Lords, things were much better, but their hearts were still pounding.
Under the watchful eyes of all the Calamity Beast.
The Feixu man who had been in charge of the Dull Star Stone Mine first consulted the largest Black Rat beside him, then turned to the Calamity Beast had crossed over them and were closer to the mine, and said:
"From today onwards, their tasks will fall on your shoulders, and the daily ore mining quota for each Calamity Beast will increase by 20%."
"That means you need to dig out 600 jin for the First Tier, 1800 jin for the Second Tier, and 6000 jin for the Third Tier. Do you understand?"
"..."
There was no response; the scene remained silent.
One after another, the Calamity Beast stared blankly at the Feixu man.
Originally, that amount of material would have taken many of the Calamity Beast eleven or twelve hours to dig. Now, with the amount suddenly increased by 30%, it will take them even longer to dig, and they might not even be able to finish.
But if you say they don't want to...
Looking at the more than two hundred Calamity Beast blocked outside, and at the Black Rat Lords standing in the middle, making no attempt to conceal themselves.
They easily realized why this was the case, and what would happen if they objected.
Therefore, not a single Calamity Beast spoke.
However, this behavior greatly displeased Feixu.
It frowned, and just as it was about to say something, a Coiling Mountain Beast suddenly spoke:
"Yes, we understand!"
Upon hearing this, the other Calamity Beast seemed to only then realize what was happening, and immediately followed suit, shouting:
"Yes, we understand!"
"OK..."
"Yes..."
A series of responses rang out, then quickly fell silent.
Feixu looked at the scene before him with satisfaction, his gaze lingering on the Coiling Mountain Beast for a moment before he nodded.
"Alright, you guys go mine, that's all you're doing!"
There was a brief silence, followed by the sound of footsteps hurrying towards the mine.
The footsteps grew louder and louder.
Then, after a slight pause, it accelerated even more.
Pleading, screams of agony, and roars echoed from behind, yet not a single Calamity Beast dared to stop...
