How would I know if this has anything to do with you?!
Black Rat Broken Tooth flew off the ground, its gaze icy as it looked at the emerging Calamity Beast, its words full of skepticism.
"Really, you believe us. If this were related to us, if we were involved in the rebellion, then there would be no way we would be back tonight, wouldn't you say?!" the Calamity Beast continued.
"Heh, who knows? Maybe you want to come here, kill us all, and prevent us from going back to report, so you can buy more time to escape," Black Rat Broken Tooth sneered.
"No, no, Lord Broken Tooth, this way..."
The Calamity Beast was still there, talking.
But Broken Tooth was no longer concerned; it looked at the other Calamity Beast.
Nervousness, fear, confusion, bewilderment...
Some of the Calamity Beast, having realized what had happened through their conversation, were now filled with fear; others, however, remained completely bewildered.
Without exception, they all looked tense.
Even those who hadn't quite grasped the situation could tell from the conversation that the Black Rat who had arrived seemed to have originally intended to kill them.
All eyes were fixed ahead, on the two Calamity Beast conversing.
Soon, having seemingly said everything he could think of, the Calamity Beast stopped, its body still lying on the ground, its eyes looking over nervously.
However, Black Rat Broken Tooth showed no intention of replying; it didn't have the time to argue with these guys.
Whether these guys participated in the rebellion or not, it didn't care.
The reason it didn't act immediately but stopped here was because it was considering whether or not to believe what the other party said.
The key point here is not whether you believe in them or not, but what you should do if you do believe in them or not.
I believe that as long as we leave the Thin Tail here, we can go back and report to the clan leader!
If you don't believe it, then you need to deal with them first. You don't necessarily have to kill them all, but you should at least disperse them!
So, the question now is, should we spend time dealing with them?
Or should we leave the Thin Tail creatures behind to keep watch over those who might actually have been involved in the rebellion?
Beside them, another Fourth Tier Black Rat, Lame Claw, seeing that Broken Tooth hadn't moved, spoke up:
"These beasts can't be trusted. So far, only a few have returned, meaning the other Calamity Beast have all been won over! How could they possibly have escaped all of this?!"
"... Yes, indeed!" The Black Rat nodded along its Thin Tail.
"But we really didn't participate in those guys' rebellion! Think about it, gentlemen, if we had participated in the rebellion, how could we possibly have come back? We would definitely be with those who didn't come back! After all, no matter how you look at it, the chances of surviving with them would be much greater!" the Calamity Beast hurriedly shouted upon hearing this.
"Did you know they were going to rebel?" Black Rat's Lame Claw glared fiercely at the Calamity Beast.
"I have no idea!"
"I didn't know you reacted so quickly!"
"I, I..."
"Heh, speechless now, huh?!"
"No, I just saw that..."
Black Rat Broken Tooth stood to the side, calmly observing the scene unfolding before him.
After a while, it suddenly raised its paw.
"Alright!"
As soon as the conversation stopped, all the Calamity Beast looked at Black Rat Broken Tooth.
The enslaved Calamity Beast looked tense, for it concerned their impending future.
The Black Rat that followed looked fierce, after all, Lame Claw Crippled had the upper hand in the previous conversation.
However, somewhat unexpectedly...
" Thin Tail, Lame Claw, you two stay here and watch over them. I'll go back and report this to the chieftain!" Black Rat Broken Tooth turned to Thin Tail and Lame Claw and said.
"No way, you believe this guy's nonsense?!" Black Rat Lame Claw shouted.
"It's not that we believe them, it's just that if they participated in the rebellion, we can deal with them later. If they didn't participate, then leaving them alone won't have much of an impact. On the contrary, the most important thing now is to go back and report this news to the clan chief!" Black Rat Broken Tooth said quickly.
The Lame Claw opened its mouth, as if to say something, but was stopped by the Thin Tail.
"Okay, we understand. You can go now!"
Black Rat Broken Tooth Teeth glanced at the herd of beasts, then looked away and said in a low voice,
"Keep an eye on them. If anything unusual happens, try to scare them first. If that doesn't work, it's okay to leave," Black Rat Broken Tooth said.
Upon hearing this, the Black Rat, with its Lame Claw, opened its mouth, but was stopped again by its Thin Tail.
"Okay, we understand!"
Black Rat Broken Tooth turned to look at the herd of beasts and shouted:
"Listen up, you lot! Some of you are ungrateful and have rebelled. I'm going back now to gather the other Black Rat to deal with them. If you stay put, I might spare your lives afterwards. Otherwise..."
Without saying another word, Black Rat Broken Tooth surveyed them, chuckled coldly twice, and then, without lingering, its figure swiftly disappeared into the distance.
The Calamity Beast stood there, staring at each other with wide eyes.
After the warning from the Black Rat with Broken Tooth, even the dumbest of them would understand what was going on.
So, one by one, their eyes unconsciously turned towards the distance.
It's too far away, and there are trees blocking the view, so I can't see it at all...
"What are you looking at? Behave yourselves, do you hear me?!"
Shouts and curses could be heard.
The Calamity Beast withdrew their gaze and looked at the Black Rat.
The Black Rat, who used to look down on them, were now staring at them with tense expressions.
Then, the leader of the Black Rat seemed to give some instructions.
Immediately afterwards, more than ten Black Rat began to scatter to the side, seemingly trying to surround them.
"Quickly, all the Calamity Beast, gather in the middle immediately! Don't scatter so far apart!" the leading Black Rat shouted.
After a moment's hesitation, the Calamity Beast moved closer to the center.
Then, they waited.
During this process, many of the Calamity Beast gazed towards the distant forest.
It was no different from before; it was too far away, and with the dense forest, you couldn't see anything.
but...
Suddenly, a Calamity Beast let out a meaningless cry.
The surrounding Calamity Beast that heard the commotion instinctively looked towards it, then paused, their gazes all turning in the direction the Calamity Beast was looking.
