Department Store Rescue

Glenn first appears over the radio after becoming trapped with recovered medicine in the department store’s east-section third ventilation duct. His distress call interrupts an armed confrontation between Merle’s group and Lynn’s party, giving them an immediate reason to cooperate 8.

Lynn and the others clear walkers from the duct opening while Glenn crawls toward them. A walker catches his ankle, but Merle shoots it, grazing Glenn’s shoulder in the process. Andrea and T-Dog pull him free with his bulging medical bag. Exhausted and shaking, Glenn remains conscious while the others fight the walkers breaking through behind him 8.

When the building becomes untenable, Glenn identifies a loading-area passage leading to a back alley through a damaged shutter. He guides the escape and directs Davis through the surrounding streets. Lynn’s willingness to trust his judgment increases Glenn’s fondness for him 9.

Joining Lynn

After escaping, Glenn reveals that his companions—including Lori, Carl, and Shane—are camped at an abandoned quarry beside Interstate 85 on Atlanta’s southeastern outskirts. He shares the location despite Merle’s warning look, enabling the group to reach the camp and Rick to reunite with his family 9 10.

Lynn recruits Glenn for his knowledge of Atlanta and quick thinking, specifically asking him to scout routes and locate supplies. Glenn already trusts Lynn because of the rescue and firmly chooses to join him, following Merle and Daryl’s decision. The subsequent walker attack forces the camp’s evacuation 12 13.

During the journey, Glenn helps Andrea sort the RV’s supplies and later warns the group about walkers on the highway. He fights with a pistol while T-Dog protects his flank. At the abandoned gas station, he helps clear the convenience store and receives responsibility for counting and rationing the remaining food and water 14 15 17.

Sunset Motel Raid

Glenn is selected for Lynn’s assault on the Sunset Motel after the group learns that its raiders possess two RPG-7 launchers. Although visibly frightened, he accepts the assignment and participates in the attack alongside Daryl 19.

Afterward, Glenn returns with food and water and assists Davis in cataloguing the captured supplies. He records ammunition counts in a small notebook while Davis sorts the recovered rounds 20.

Greenville Pharmacy and the Barn Secret

When Sophia develops a high fever, Glenn volunteers for the expedition to Old Barton’s Pharmacy in Greenville, explaining that his medicine-delivery experience gives him familiarity with pharmacy stock. Before departure, Lori privately approaches him about obtaining a pregnancy test 22 23.

Inside the pharmacy, Maggie provides cover while Glenn searches for children’s medicine and antibiotics. He recovers children’s ibuprofen suspension, amoxicillin granules, and additional medicines, secretly packing a pregnancy test as well 23.

The retreat nearly fails when walkers converge on the team. Maggie pulls Glenn onward when fear makes him hesitate, and Lynn orders him onto Daryl’s motorcycle because he is carrying the recovered medicine. Glenn escapes with the supplies intact 24.

At dinner on Hershel’s farm, Lynn prompts Glenn to reveal that he and Maggie have seen walkers locked inside the barn. Glenn speaks despite Maggie’s attempt to stop him. The disclosure provokes Hershel’s anger and leads to Lynn’s group being ordered off the property. During the ensuing argument over destroying the barn, Glenn remains withdrawn and looks to Lynn for a decision 25 26.

Atlanta Zoo and the Whisperer Attack

Glenn reaches Atlanta Zoo with the convoy and is housed with T-Dog, Andrea, and Dale in the communal dormitory. His safe arrival counts toward completion of Lynn’s Survivor Integration quest 30 31.

Lynn subsequently names Glenn and Daryl as the core members of the exploration and scavenging team. Their squads are assigned to recover food, medicine, fuel, seeds, and specified chemicals while prioritizing stealth and avoiding conflict 34.

When Zhao Jinghong and the Jackal encounter Whisperers among a walker horde, Glenn joins Lynn’s relief force. He arrives with the convoy and helps clear walkers around Zhao Jinghong and her captive. Lynn then orders him, T-Dog, and Zhao Jinghong to bind the prisoner and bring him back for interrogation 43 45 46.

During the later breach of the zoo’s southeastern wall, Davis orders Glenn and Maggie to establish crossfire and suppress the advancing horde while the defenders barricade the inner passage 47.

Personality

Glenn is quick-witted and useful under pressure, particularly when he can draw on familiar terrain or practical experience. Lynn explicitly values his knowledge of the city, while Glenn’s identification of the department store’s back exit provides the group with an escape route 9 12.

He is also openly fearful rather than emotionally hardened. He trembles after his rescue, pales at reports of armed raiders and rocket launchers, and briefly struggles to move when surrounded in Greenville. Nevertheless, he accepts dangerous assignments and volunteers to retrieve medicine for Sophia 8 18 19 22 24.

Gratitude strongly shapes his trust in Lynn. Being rescued and then having his judgment respected makes him receptive to Lynn’s recruitment. His disclosure of the barn’s walkers shows that he can force himself to speak through anxiety, even when doing so places him at odds with Maggie 9 12 13 25.
