Chapter 50
Zhang Hanyue froze. When she recovered, she hurriedly pulled her loose clothing together.
Qi Yuheng left the room that made him feel as though he were suffocating.
"Brother, big brother!" Qi Yuwen followed him, unwilling to give up, and said rapidly, "Zhang Hanyue and I were really just fooling around. I didn't mean anything else by it. I know I was wrong. Please forgive me!"
Qi Yuheng stopped and looked at him coldly. "Qi Yuwen, do you think I'm as stupid as a pig, so no matter what you do, all you have to do is sweet-talk me a little and I'll forgive you? Now I'm wondering just how many fine deeds you've done behind my back over the years."
At those words, Qi Yuwen's expression changed, and a trace of guilt showed in his shifty eyes.
Qi Yuheng said indifferently, "Get ready to marry Zhang Hanyue. Since the two of you were willing to betray me to be together, you ought to be prepared to stay together forever!"
"Holy shit!"
Watching the two brothers walk away, Hu Hejia couldn't help exclaiming quietly, "Qi Yuheng is really ruthless! He's making Qi Yuwen and Zhang Hanyue get married because he wants them to spend their whole lives resenting each other!"
Hu Hejia's friend curled his lip. "Those two deserve it. I don't think Qi Yuheng was ruthless enough. If it were me, I'd take photos of their affair and post them online so the whole internet could see the true faces of that adulterer and his □□!"
Hearing this, Ye Mo couldn't help glancing at the fellow beside her-good grief, this guy was ruthless too.
The fellow clearly loved watching drama unfold. Even after the show was over, he still hadn't had his fill. He told Ye Mo, "Little sister, remember to invite me next time there's something exciting like this!"
With him being so enthusiastic, how could Ye Mo give him the cold shoulder? She readily agreed.
Only then did Ye Mo learn his name. His surname was Yuan, and his full name was Yuan Youzhi.
"My dad gave me this name because he wanted me to have ambition, but obviously, I don't have much of that. I just want to coast along, eating and having fun." His tone was self-mocking as he told Ye Mo about his name.
They walked past the distraught Qi Yuwen and took the elevator downstairs. Just as the doors closed, however, they saw Qi Yuwen looking at them with eyes full of resentment.
"That guy's got a grudge against us now!" Yuan Youzhi remarked.
Hu Hejia said unconcernedly, "Then let him hold a grudge. Who's afraid of whom? Our Hu Family isn't any worse than their Qi Family, right?" So he had plenty of confidence.
Yuan Youzhi rubbed his chin. "Who knows what he might do out of resentment? Surely he isn't stupid enough to try to get revenge on us? Little sister, you'll have to be careful!"
He looked at Ye Mo and said solemnly, "You're a girl, little sister. It's easy for people to bully you."
Ye Yongming also said, "You really were too provocative just now. You're a girl. If he sets his mind on getting revenge on you, there are far too many tricks he could use."
Ye Mo shook her head and stated a fact. "If someone really wants revenge and wants to use underhanded means, it makes no difference whether you're a man or a woman."
Hu Hejia said, "...That makes sense too."
Ye Mo said, "Besides, if I dared to provoke him, of course I'm confident I can handle his revenge!"
Leaving aside her greater strength compared to ordinary girls, she also had the system, 888, which could monitor Qi Yuwen's movements at any time. So Ye Mo wasn't afraid of Qi Yuwen not retaliating; only of him not retaliating.
Ye Mo sneered. "If he really tries anything against me, that'll be the perfect chance to send him to prison to work a sewing machine. That way, when he gets out, he'll have a skill to support himself with."
Yuan Youzhi couldn't help giving her a thumbs-up. "I love how entertaining you are when you talk, little sister. You're right up my alley!"
He grabbed Ye Mo's hand and said, "It's decided. From now on, you're my own little sister!"
Just then, a hand reached over from beside him and lifted his wrist with two fingers. "Don't try getting chummy with me here. What do you mean, your little sister? She's my little sister! She has nothing to do with you!"
Ye Yongming felt he had to assert his rights as her older brother, or just anyone would try to seize his position.
"Oh, come on!" Hu Hejia struggled up onto his tiptoes and put an arm around his neck. "You're treating us like outsiders. Isn't your little sister our little sister too? Besides, wouldn't it be great for Momo to have two more older brothers? That's two more people to take care of her. Isn't that good?"
But Ye Yongming remained clearheaded and snorted. "Older brothers stop being special when there are too many of them!"
Ye Mo already had three biological older brothers, and counting him, she had four or five older male cousins. If two more older brothers showed up now, where would that leave him? So Ye Yongming firmly opposed Hu Hejia and Yuan Youzhi calling themselves her older brothers.
Unfortunately, Hu Hejia and Yuan Youzhi chose to ignore his attitude, standing attentively beside Ye Mo and calling her little sister at every turn.
Ye Yongming silently clenched his fists. My fists are itching.
The four of them left Building C and saw Qi Yuheng standing at the foot of the
building. He actually hadn't left.
"Mr. Qi..." Ye Mo walked over and called out to him.
Qi Yuheng turned around. "Miss Ye."
Ye Mo asked him, "Were you waiting for me, Mr. Qi?"
Qi Yuheng nodded. "I was waiting for you, Miss Ye. Mainly because I wanted to thank you in person!"
He smiled bitterly. "If it weren't for you, Miss Ye, I'd probably still be in the dark. Who knows when I would have found out?"
When he thought of those two, one was his own younger brother, and the other was the fiancée he was about to marry, yet he had never imagined that they would hook up.
Even now, when Qi Yuheng brought it up, his tone still carried disgust and anger.
Ye Mo looked at him. "I thought you might be angry, Mr. Qi."
Although Qi Yuheng was the victim in this affair, it was still humiliating, and there was no shortage of narrow-minded people in the world who resented whoever exposed something that embarrassed them. Fortunately, Qi Yuheng didn't seem to be that sort of person.
"How could I be angry? I can't thank you enough," Qi Yuheng said, his expression bitter. "If you hadn't told me, I never would have suspected those two."
It wasn't that he lacked shrewdness. He simply wouldn't readily suspect the people close to him. Yet it was precisely the two people closest to him who had betrayed him and planted a lush green prairie on his head.
At that thought, a chill crept over Qi Yuheng's face, and his expression grew colder and harder.
He looked at Ye Mo and promised, "I'll remember this favor, Miss Ye. If you ever need my help, just ask. If it's within my power, I'll definitely help!"
Ye Mo said, "I will."
When she said she would, she meant it. After all, Ye Mo wasn't the sort to leave resources unused.
Ye Mo and the others parted ways with Qi Yuheng at the entrance to Helang Maijing Residential Complex, then said goodbye to Hu Hejia and Yuan Youzhi as well.
"...Little sister," before they parted, Yuan Youzhi still couldn't resist asking curiously, "How did you find out about Qi Yuwen and Zhang Hanyue?"
Since those two had hooked up behind everyone's backs, they must have kept it well hidden in public. The fact that Qi Yuheng had been kept in the dark for so long without suspecting them showed how well they had concealed it. So how had Ye Mo learned about it?
Hearing this question, Ye Mo said with a perfectly straight face, "Actually, I'm a divine fortune-teller."
"..."
"Hahaha, you really know how to joke, little sister!" Yuan Youzhi laughed, not believing a word of her "nonsense."
A sly gleam appeared in Ye Mo's eyes. "I'm not making things up. How about I tell your fortune, Brother Yuan... Hmm, you're particularly fond of beautiful things, aren't you?"
Ye Mo's tone was meaningful and pointed, laden with implications.
Yuan Youzhi froze at her words. An absurd feeling suddenly rose within him, and countless question marks flashed through his mind. No way, no way! She couldn't really have divined what I like, could she?
